1有人告訴 大衛 說：「 非利士 人攻擊 基伊拉 ，搶奪禾場。」
1And they told David, saying: 'Behold, the Philistines are fighting against Keilah, and they rob the threshing-floors.'
2所以 大衛 求問耶和華說：「我去攻打那些 非利士 人可以不可以？」耶和華對 大衛 說：「你可以去攻打 非利士 人，拯救 基伊拉 。」
2Therefore David inquired of the LORD, saying: 'Shall I go and smite these Philistines?' And the LORD said unto David: 'Go, and smite the Philistines, and save Keilah.'
3跟隨 大衛 的人對他說：「我們在 猶大 地這裏尚且懼怕，何況往 基伊拉 去攻打 非利士 人的軍旅呢？」
3And David's men said unto him: 'Behold, we are afraid here in Judah; how much more then if we go to Keilah against the armies of the Philistines?'
4大衛 又求問耶和華。耶和華回答說：「你起身下 基伊拉 去，我必將 非利士 人交在你手裏。」
4Then David inquired of the LORD yet again. And the LORD answered him and said: 'Arise, go down to Keilah; for I will deliver the Philistines into thy hand.'
5大衛 和跟隨他的人往 基伊拉 去，與 非利士 人打仗，大大殺敗他們，又奪獲他們的牲畜。這樣， 大衛 救了 基伊拉 的居民。
5And David and his men went to Keilah, and fought with the Philistines, and brought away their cattle, and slew them with a great slaughter. So David saved the inhabitants of Keilah.
6亞希米勒 的兒子 亞比亞他 逃到 基伊拉 見 大衛 的時候，手裏拿着以弗得。
6And it came to pass, when Abiathar the son of Ahimelech fled to David to Keilah, that he came down with an ephod in his hand.
7有人告訴 掃羅 說：「 大衛 到了 基伊拉 。」 掃羅 說：「他進了有門有閂的城，困閉在裏頭；這是上帝將他交在我手裏了。」
7And it was told Saul that David was come to Keilah. And Saul said: 'God hath delivered him into my hand; for he is shut in, by entering into a town that hath gates and bars.'
8於是 掃羅 招聚眾民，要下去攻打 基伊拉 城，圍困 大衛 和跟隨他的人。
8And Saul summoned all the people to war, to go down to Keilah, to besiege David and his men.
9大衛 知道 掃羅 設計謀害他，就對祭司 亞比亞他 說：「將以弗得拿過來。」
9And David knew that Saul devised mischief against him; and he said to Abiathar the priest: 'Bring hither the ephod.'
10大衛 禱告說：「耶和華－ 以色列 的上帝啊，你僕人聽真了 掃羅 要往 基伊拉 來，為我的緣故滅城。
10Then said David: 'O LORD, the God of Israel, Thy servant hath surely heard that Saul seeketh to come to Keilah, to destroy the city for my sake.
11基伊拉 人將我交在 掃羅 手裏不交？ 掃羅 照着你僕人所聽的話下來不下來？耶和華－ 以色列 的上帝啊，求你指示僕人！」耶和華說：「 掃羅 必下來。」
11Will the men of Keilah deliver me up into his hand? will Saul come down, as Thy servant hath heard?' O LORD, the God of Israel, I beseech Thee, tell Thy servant.' And the LORD said: 'He will come down.'
12大衛 又說：「 基伊拉 人將我和跟隨我的人交在 掃羅 手裏不交？」耶和華說：「必交出來。」
12Then said David: 'Will the men of Keilah deliver up me and my men into the hand of Saul?' And the LORD said: 'They will deliver thee up.'
13大衛 和跟隨他的約有六百人，就起身出了 基伊拉 ，往他們所能往的地方去。有人告訴 掃羅 ， 大衛 離開 基伊拉 逃走；於是 掃羅 不出來了。
13Then David and his men, who were about six hundred, arose and departed out of Keilah, and went whithersoever they could go. And it was told Saul that David was escaped from Keilah; and he forbore to go forth.
14大衛 住在曠野的山寨裏，常在 西弗 曠野的山地。 掃羅 天天尋索 大衛 ，上帝卻不將 大衛 交在他手裏。
14And David abode in the wilderness in the strongholds, and remained in the hill-country in the wilderness of Ziph. And Saul sought him every day, but God delivered him not into his hand.
15大衛 知道 掃羅 出來尋索他的命。那時，他住在 西弗 曠野的樹林裏；
15And David saw that Saul was come out to seek his life; and David was in the wilderness of Ziph in the wood.
16掃羅 的兒子 約拿單 起身，往那樹林裏去見 大衛 ，使他倚靠上帝得以堅固，
16And Jonathan Saul's son arose, and went to David into the wood, and strengthened his hand in God.
17對他說：「不要懼怕！我父 掃羅 的手必不加害於你；你必作 以色列 的王，我也作你的宰相。這事我父 掃羅 知道了。」
17And he said unto him: 'Fear not; for the hand of Saul my father shall not find thee; and thou shalt be king over Israel, and I shall be next unto thee; and that also Saul my father knoweth.'
18於是二人在耶和華面前立約。 大衛 仍住在樹林裏， 約拿單 回家去了。
18And they two made a covenant before the LORD; and David abode in the wood, and Jonathan went to his house.
19西弗 人上到 基比亞 見 掃羅 ，說：「 大衛 不是在我們那裏的樹林裏山寨中、曠野南邊的 哈基拉山 藏着嗎？
19Then came up the Ziphites to Saul to Gibeah, saying: 'Doth not David hide himself with us in the strongholds in the wood, in the hill of Hachilah, which is on the south of Jeshimon?
20王啊，請你隨你的心願下來，我們必親自將他交在王的手裏。」
20Now therefore, O king, come down, according to all the desire of thy soul to come down; and our part shall be to deliver him up into the king's hand.'
21掃羅 說：「願耶和華賜福與你們，因你們顧恤我。
21And Saul said: 'Blessed be ye of the LORD; for ye have had compassion on me.
22請你們回去，再確實查明他的住處和行蹤，是誰看見他在那裏，因為我聽見人說他甚狡猾。
22Go, I pray you, make yet more sure, and know and see his place where his haunt is, and who hath seen him there; for it is told me that he dealeth very subtly.
23所以要看準他藏匿的地方，回來據實地告訴我，我就與你們同去。他若在 猶大 的境內，我必從千門萬戶中搜出他來。」
23See therefore, and take knowledge of all the lurking-places where he hideth himself, and come ye back to me with the certainty, and I will go with you; and it shall come to pass, if he be in the land, that I will search him out among all the thousands of Judah.'
24西弗 人就起身，在 掃羅 以先往 西弗 去。 大衛 和跟隨他的人卻在 瑪雲 曠野南邊的 亞拉巴 。
24And they arose, and went to Ziph before Saul; but David and his men were in the wilderness of Maon, in the Arabah on the south of Jeshimon.
25掃羅 和跟隨他的人去尋找 大衛 ；有人告訴 大衛 ，他就下到磐石，住在 瑪雲 的曠野。 掃羅 聽見，便在 瑪雲 的曠野追趕 大衛 。
25And Saul and his men went to seek him. And they told David; wherefore he came down to the rock, and abode in the wilderness of Maon. And when Saul heard that, he pursued after David in the wilderness of Maon.
26掃羅 在山這邊走， 大衛 和跟隨他的人在山那邊走。 大衛 急忙躲避 掃羅 ；因為 掃羅 和跟隨他的人，四面圍住 大衛 和跟隨他的人，要拿獲他們。
26And Saul went on this side of the mountain, and David and his men on that side of the mountain; and David made haste to get away for fear of Saul; for Saul and his men compassed David and his men round about to take them.
27忽有使者來報告 掃羅 說：「 非利士 人犯境搶掠，請王快快回去！」
27But there came a messenger unto Saul, saying: 'Haste thee, and come; for the Philistines have made a raid upon the land.'
28於是 掃羅 不追趕 大衛 ，回去攻打 非利士 人。因此那地方名叫 西拉‧哈瑪希羅結 。
28So Saul returned from pursuing after David, and went against the Philistines; therefore they called that place Sela-hammahlekoth.
29大衛 從那裏上去，住在 隱‧基底 的山寨裏。
29(24-1) And David went up from thence, and dwelt in the strongholds of En-gedi.
