Rom 4
Asang Khongca Bible (Eastern Khumi Chin, 2019)
Berean Standard Bible
1To tih nahaeloe hae hmuen pongah aicae ampa Abraham mah taksa ah tih atho maw hnuk?
1What then shall we say that Abraham, our forefather, has discovered?
2Abraham mah toksakhaih hoiah toenghaih hnu nahaeloe, anih amoek hanah hmuen maeto oh; toe Sithaw hmaa ah loe amoek thai mak ai.
2If Abraham was indeed justified by works, he had something to boast about, but not before God.
3Cabu mah timaw thuih? Abraham mah Sithaw to tang pongah, to tanghaih to toenghaih ah tapom pae, tiah oh.
3For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness.”
4Toksahkung mah a toksakhaih atho hnuk naah, tahmenhaih hoiah hnuk ih tangqum ah om ai, a hnuk han koi a tok sakhaih atho to ni a hnuk.
4Now the wages of the worker are not credited as a gift, but as an obligation.
5Toe toksakhaih tawn ai kami loe Anih tanghaih tawn kami hanah toenghaih Paekkung to tang nahaeloe, a tanghaih rang hoiah katoeng kami ah oh.
5However, to the one who does not work, but believes in Him who justifies the wicked, his faith is credited as righteousness.
6To baktih toengah toksakhaih om ai ah, Sithaw mah paek ih toenghaih hnu kami ih tahamhoihaih to David mah,
6And David speaks likewise of the blessedness of the man to whom God credits righteousness apart from works:
7sakpazaehaihnawk tahmen pae moe, zaehaihnawk khuk pae ah kaom kaminawk loe tahamhoih o.
7“Blessed are they whose lawless acts are forgiven, whose sins are covered.
8Angraeng zae nethaih thung hoi loih kami loe tahamhoih, tiah thuih.
8Blessed is the man whose sin the Lord will never count against him.”
9Abraham tanghaih loe toenghaih ah tapom pae, tiah a thuih o boeh. To tiah nahaeloe hae tahamhoihhaih loe tangyat hin aat kami han khue maw oh, tangyat hin aat ai kaminawk han doeh oh toeng maw?
9Is this blessing only on the circumcised, or also on the uncircumcised? We have been saying that Abraham’s faith was credited to him as righteousness.
10Kawbangah oh naah maw to tiah tapom pae? Tangyat hin a aah pacoengah maw? To tih ai boeh loe aat ai na ah? Aah pacoengah na ai, aat ai na ah ni toenghaih to hnuk boeh.
10In what context was it credited? Was it after his circumcision, or before? It was not after, but before.
11Anih loe tangyat hin aat o ai, toe to toenghaih to nihcae mah hnuk o toeng, tangcaanawk boih ih ampa ah a oh hanah, Abraham loe tangyat hin aat ai naah ni, tanghaih hoiah kaom toenghaih tacik tangyat hin aah angmathaih to hnuk boeh.
11And he received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. So then, he is the father of all who believe but are not circumcised, in order that righteousness might be credited to them.
12Abraham loe tangyat hin aat kaminawk ih ampa khue na ai ni, tangyat hin aat ai naah Abraham tanghaih khokkong pazui kaminawk boih ih ampa ah doeh oh.
12And he is also the father of the circumcised who not only are circumcised, but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.
13Abraham loe long qawktoepkung ah om tih, tiah lokkamhaih to oh: to lokkamhaih loe Abraham mah kaalok pazui pongah na ai ni, tanghaih rang hoiah kaom toenghaih hoiah ni oh.
13For the promise to Abraham and his offspring that he would be heir of the world was not given through the law, but through the righteousness that comes by faith.
14Kaalok hoiah hing kaminawk mah qawk to toep o nahaeloe, tanghaih loe avanghaih tidoeh om mak ai ueloe, lokkamhaih doeh azom pui ah ni om tih boeh:
14For if those who live by the law are heirs, faith is useless and the promise is worthless,
15Kaalok mah palungphuihaih to ohsak: kaalok om ai ahmuen ah loe zaehaih doeh om ai.
15because the law brings wrath. And where there is no law, there is no transgression.
16Abraham ih caanawk boih khaeah tahmenhaih rang hoiah kaom lokkamhaih to caaksak hanah, tanghaih loe lokpui koekah oh; lokkamhaih loe kaalok thungah kaom kaminawk han khue na ai ni, kaminawk boih ih ampa ah kaom, Abraham tanghaih tawn kaminawk boih khaeah doeh om tih,
16Therefore, the promise comes by faith, so that it may rest on grace and may be guaranteed to all Abraham’s offspring—not only to those who are of the law, but also to those who are of the faith of Abraham. He is the father of us all.
17Abraham loe kadueh kaminawk hinghaih paekkung, kaom ai hmuennawk omsakkung hoi a tang ih Sithaw hmaa ah, (Nang loe acaeng kaminawk boih ih ampa ah kang sak boeh,) tiah tarik ih lok to oh.
17As it is written: “I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the presence of God, in whom he believed, the God who gives life to the dead and calls into being what does not yet exist.
18Na caanawk loe to tiah om o nasoe, tiah anih khaeah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Abraham mah kai loe acaengnawk ih ampa ah ka om tih, tiah oephaih to tawn ai, toe tanghaih rang hoiah oephaih a tawnh pongah ni, anih loe acaengnawk boih ih ampa ah oh.
18Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as he had been told, “So shall your offspring be.”
19Abraham loe (saning cumvaito thuemtham oh boeh,) Sarah doeh caa kak, toe tanghaih thazok ai, kadueh baktiah kaom a takpum doeh poek khing ai.
19Without weakening in his faith, he acknowledged the decrepitness of his body (since he was about a hundred years old) and the lifelessness of Sarah’s womb.
20Anih loe Sithaw lokkamhaih nuiah palunghaenghaih tawn ai, tanghaih bangah thacak moe, Sithaw to pakoeh;
20Yet he did not waver through disbelief in the promise of God, but was strengthened in his faith and gave glory to God,
21lokkamhaih sah Sithaw loe lokkam ih baktiah sak thaih, tiah kacaak tanghaih to a tawnh.
21being fully persuaded that God was able to do what He had promised.
22To pongah, anih to kami katoeng ah tapom.
22This is why “it was credited to him as righteousness.”
23Anih to katoeng kami ah tapom, tiah tarik ih lok loe anih han khue tarik ai;
23Now the words “it was credited to him” were written not only for Abraham,
24aicae han doeh tarik ah oh toeng, aicae Angraeng Jesu duekhaih thung hoi pathawkkung Anih to a tang o nahaeloe, to tiah tanghaih to aicae toenghaih ah tapom pae toeng tih;
24but also for us, to whom righteousness will be credited—for us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.
25Jesu loe aicae zaehaih pongah duek hanah angpaek moe, aicae toenghaih hnuk hanah duekhaih thung hoi angthawk let boeh.
25He was delivered over to death for our trespasses and was raised to life for our justification.
