Tongan Bible, Revised West Version
Douay-Rheims Bible, American Edition (1899)
1‌ʻOku langa hake hono fale ʻe he fefine kotoa pē ʻoku poto: ka ʻoku holoki hifo ia ʻe he vale ʻaki hono nima.
1A wise woman buildeth her house: but the foolish will pull down with her hands that also which is built.
2Ko ia ʻoku ʻeveʻeva ʻi heʻene angatonu ʻoku manavahē ia kia Sihova: ka ko ia ʻoku pikopiko ʻi hono ngaahi hala ʻoku ne fehiʻa kiate ia.
2He that walketh in the right way, and feareth God, Cis despised by him that goeth by an infamous way.
3‌ʻOku ai ʻae vaʻa ʻoe laukau ʻi he ngutu ʻoe vale: ka ʻoku fakamoʻui ʻae poto ʻe honau loungutu.
3In the mouth of a fool is the rod of pride: but the lips of the wise preserve them.
4‌ʻI he potu ʻoku ʻikai ai ha fanga pulu ʻoku maʻa ai ʻae ʻaiʻanga kai: ka ʻoku ai ʻae tupu lahi ʻi he mālohi ʻoe pulu.
4Where there are no oxen, the crib is empty: but where there is much corn, there the strength of the ox is manifest.
5‌ʻE ʻikai faʻa loi ʻae fakamoʻoni angatonu: ka ʻe lea loi pe ʻae fakamoʻoni loi.
5A faithful witness will not lie: but a deceitful witness uttereth a lie.
6‌ʻOku kumi ʻae poto ʻe he manuki, ka ʻoku ʻikai te ne ʻilo ia: ka ʻoku maʻungofua ʻae poto kiate ia ʻoku fakakaukau.
6A scorner seeketh wisdom, and findeth it not: the learning of the wise is easy.
7‌ʻAlu atu mei he ʻao ʻoe tangata vale, ʻoka ke ka mamata ʻoku ʻikai ʻiate ia ʻae loungutu ʻoe poto.
7Go against a foolish man, and he knoweth not the lips of prudence.
8Ko e poto eni ʻae fakamākukanga ke ne ʻilo pe hono hala: ka ko e vaʻinga ʻae vale ko e kākā ia.
8The wisdom of a. discreet man is to understand his way: and the imprudence of fools erreth.
9‌ʻOku manukiʻi ʻae angahala ʻe he kakai vale: ka ʻoku ai ʻae lelei ʻi he haʻohaʻonga ʻoe māʻoniʻoni.
9A fool will laugh at sin, but among the just grace shall abide.
10‌ʻOku ʻilo ʻe he loto ʻa ʻene mamahi ʻaʻana: pea ʻoku ʻikai ke kau ha taha kehe ʻi heʻene fiefia.
10The heart that knoweth the bitterness of his own soul, in his joy the stranger shall not intermeddle.
11‌ʻE holoki hifo ʻae fale ʻoe angahala: ka ʻe maʻu pe ʻae lelei ʻi he fale fehikitaki ʻoe angatonu.
11The house of the wicked shall be destroyed: but the tabernacles of the just shall flourish.
12‌ʻOku ai ʻae hala ʻoku matamata totonu ki he tangata, ka ko hono ngataʻanga ko e ngaahi hala ʻoe mate.
12There is a way which seemeth just to a man: but the ends thereof lead to death.
13‌ʻI he lolotonga ʻae kata, ʻoku mamahi ai ʻae loto: pea ko e ikuʻanga ʻoe vākē ko ia ko e māfasia.
13Laughter shall be mingled with sorrow, and mourning taketh hold of the end of joy.
14‌ʻE fakafonu ʻaia ʻoku fakaholomui ʻi loto ʻaki hono ngaahi hala ʻoʻona: pea ʻe mākona ʻae tangata angalelei meiate ia pe.
14A fool shall be filled with his own ways, and the good man shall be above him.
15‌ʻOku tui ʻe he taʻepoto ki he lea kotoa pē: ka ʻoku tokanga lahi ʻaia ʻoku anga fakapotopoto ki heʻene ʻalu.
15The innocent believeth every word: the discreet man considereth his steps. No good shall come to the deceitful son: but the wise servant shall prosper in his dealings, and his way shall be made straight.
16‌ʻOku manavahē ʻae tangata poto, ʻo ne fakamamaʻo mei he kovi: ka ʻoku fakalili ʻae vale, mo faʻa polepole.
16A wise man feareth and declineth from evil: the fool leapeth over and is confident.
17‌ʻOku fai vale ia ʻaia ʻoku ʻita vave: pea ʻoku tupu ʻae fehiʻa ki he tangata ʻoku filioʻi kovi.
17The impatient man shall work folly: and the crafty man is hateful.
18‌ʻOku maʻu ʻe he fakavalevale ʻae vale: ka ʻoku tatā ʻaki ʻae poto ʻaia ʻoku fakamākukanga.
18The childish shall possess folly, and the prudent, shall look for knowledge.
19‌ʻOku punou ʻae angakovi ʻi he ʻao ʻoe angalelei: pea mo e angahala ʻi he matapā ʻoe māʻoniʻoni.
19The evil shall fall down before the good: and the wicked before the gates of the just.
20‌ʻOku fehiʻanekina ʻae tangata masiva ʻe hono kaungāʻapi: ka ʻoku toko lahi ʻakinautolu ʻoku ʻofa ki he koloaʻia.
20The poor man shall be hateful even to his own neighbour: but the friends of the rich are many.
21Ko ia ʻoku fehiʻa ki hono kaungāʻapi ko e fai hala ia: ka ʻoku monūʻia ia ʻaia ʻoku angaʻofa ki he masiva.
21He that despiseth his neighbour, sinneth: but he that sheweth mercy to the poor, shall be blessed. He that believeth in the Lord, loveth mercy.
22‌ʻIkai ʻoku hē ʻakinautolu ʻoku filioʻi kovi? Ka ʻe ʻoe kakai ʻoku filioʻi lelei ʻae ʻaloʻofa mo e moʻoni.
22They err that work evil: but mercy and truth prepare good things.
23‌ʻOku ai hono ʻaonga ʻoe ngāue kotoa pē: ka ko e faʻa lea ʻae loungutu ʻoku tupu ai ʻae masiva.
23In much work there shall be abundance: but where there are many words, there is oftentimes want.
24Ko e koloa ʻae poto ko honau tatā ia: ka ko e fai vale ʻae vale ko honau vale ia.
24The crown of the wise is their riches: the folly of fools, imprudence.
25‌ʻOku fakamoʻui ʻae ngaahi laumālie ʻe he fakamoʻoni ʻoku moʻoni: ka ʻoku lea ʻaki ʻae loi ʻe he fakamoʻoni loi.
25A faithful witness delivereth souls: and the double dealer uttereth lies.
26‌ʻOku ai ʻae falala mālohi ʻi he manavahē kia Sihova: pea ʻe maʻu ʻe heʻene fānau ʻae potu hūfanga.
26In the fear of the Lord is confidence of strength, and there shall be hope for his children.

28In the multitude of people is the dignity of the king: and in the small number of people the dishonour of the prince.
29‌ʻOku poto lahi ia ʻaia ʻoku fakatuotuai ʻene ʻita: ka ko ia ʻoku ʻoho vave hono loto ʻoku fakahikihiki ʻe ia ʻae vale.
29He that is patient, is governed with much wisdom: but he that is impatient, exalteth his folly.
30Ko e loto angamalū ko e moʻui ia ʻae kakano: ka koe meheka koe fakapopo ia ʻoe ngaahi hui.
30Soundness of heart is the life of the flesh: but envy is the rottenness of the bones.
31Ko ia ʻoku fakamālohiʻi ʻae masiva ʻoku manukiʻi ʻe ia ʻa hono Tupuʻanga: ka ko ia ʻoku fakaʻapaʻapa kiate ia, ʻoku angaʻofa ia ki he masiva.
31He that oppresseth the poor, upbraideth his Maker: but he that hath pity on the poor, honoureth him.
32‌ʻOku kapusi atu ʻae angakovi ʻi heʻene angahala: ka ʻoku maʻu ʻe he māʻoniʻoni ʻae ʻamanaki lelei ʻi heʻene mate.
32The wicked man shall be driven out in his wickedness: but the just hath hope in his death.
33‌ʻOku nofo ʻae poto ʻi he loto ʻo ia ʻoku maʻu ʻae faʻa ʻilo: ka ʻoku fakahā mai ʻaia ʻoku ʻi he loto ʻoe kakai vale.
33In the heart of the prudent resteth wisdom, and it shall instruct all the ignorant.
34‌ʻOku hiki hake ʻe he māʻoniʻoni ʻae puleʻanga. ka ko e meʻa fakamā ʻae angahala ki he ngaahi puleʻanga.
34Justice exalteth a nation: but sin maketh nations miserable.
35‌ʻOku ʻofeina ʻe he tuʻi ʻae tamaioʻeiki ʻoku poto: ka ʻoku houhau ia kiate ia ʻoku tupu mei ai ʻae mā.
35A wise servant is acceptable to the king: he that is good for nothing shall feel his anger.
