1โยเซฟถูกพาลงไปอียิปต์ โปทิฟาร์ชาวอียิปต์ ซึ่งเป็นเจ้าหน้าที่ของฟาโรห์และหัวหน้าองครักษ์ ซื้อโยเซฟมาจากชาวอิชมาเอลที่พาเขาลงมาที่นั่น
1Joseph was brought down to Egypt. Potiphar, an officer of Pharaoh’s, the captain of the guard, an Egyptian, bought him from the hand of the Ishmaelites that had brought him down there.
2พระยาห์เวห์อยู่กับโยเซฟ เขาจึงประสบความสำเร็จ และอาศัยอยู่ในบ้านของนายชาวอียิปต์
2The LORD was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man. He was in the house of his master the Egyptian.
3นายของเขาเห็นว่าพระยาห์เวห์อยู่กับโยเซฟ และพระยาห์เวห์ทำให้ทุกอย่างที่โยเซฟทำสำเร็จ
3His master saw that the LORD was with him, and that the LORD made all that he did prosper in his hand.
4โยเซฟเป็นที่ชื่นชอบของนายและคอยรับใช้เขา โปทิฟาร์จึงตั้งโยเซฟให้ดูแลบ้าน และมอบทุกอย่างที่มีให้อยู่ในความรับผิดชอบของโยเซฟ
4Joseph found favor in his sight. He ministered to him, and Potiphar made him overseer over his house, and all that he had he put into his hand.
5ตั้งแต่โปทิฟาร์ให้โยเซฟดูแลบ้านและทุกอย่างที่มี พระยาห์เวห์ก็อวยพรบ้านของชาวอียิปต์คนนั้นเพราะโยเซฟ พระยาห์เวห์อวยพรทุกสิ่งที่เขามี ทั้งในบ้านและในทุ่ง
5From the time that he made him overseer in his house, and over all that he had, the LORD blessed the Egyptian’s house for Joseph’s sake. The LORD’s blessing was on all that he had, in the house and in the field.
6โปทิฟาร์จึงปล่อยให้ทุกอย่างอยู่ในความดูแลของโยเซฟ และไม่ต้องกังวลเรื่องอะไรอีกนอกจากอาหารที่ตัวเองกิน โยเซฟรูปร่างดีและหน้าตาหล่อเหลา
6He left all that he had in Joseph’s hand. He didn’t concern himself with anything, except for the food which he ate. Joseph was well-built and handsome.
7หลังจากนั้น ภรรยาของนายจับจ้องโยเซฟ แล้วพูดว่า “มานอนกับฉันสิ”
7After these things, his master’s wife set her eyes on Joseph; and she said, “Lie with me.”
8แต่โยเซฟปฏิเสธและพูดกับภรรยาของนายว่า “นายของผมไม่ต้องคอยดูแลอะไรในบ้านเอง เพราะเขามอบทุกอย่างที่มีให้ผมรับผิดชอบ
8But he refused, and said to his master’s wife, “Behold, my master doesn’t know what is with me in the house, and he has put all that he has into my hand.
9ในบ้านนี้ไม่มีใครมีอำนาจมากกว่าผม และเขาไม่ได้กันอะไรไว้จากผมเลยนอกจากคุณ เพราะคุณเป็นภรรยาของเขา แล้วผมจะทำความชั่วร้ายขนาดนี้และทำบาปต่อพระเจ้าได้อย่างไร?”
9No one is greater in this house than I am, and he has not kept back anything from me but you, because you are his wife. How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?”
10แม้เธอจะพูดกับโยเซฟอย่างนี้ทุกวัน เขาก็ไม่ยอมทำตาม ไม่ยอมนอนกับเธอ หรือแม้แต่อยู่กับเธอ
10As she spoke to Joseph day by day, he didn’t listen to her, to lie by her, or to be with her.
11วันหนึ่งโยเซฟเข้าไปในบ้านเพื่อทำงาน และคนในบ้านไม่มีใครอยู่ข้างในเลย
11About this time, he went into the house to do his work, and there were none of the men of the house inside.
12เธอคว้าเสื้อของโยเซฟไว้แล้วพูดว่า “มานอนกับฉัน!” แต่โยเซฟทิ้งเสื้อไว้ในมือเธอแล้ววิ่งออกไปข้างนอก
12She caught him by his garment, saying, “Lie with me!” He left his garment in her hand, and ran outside.
13เมื่อเธอเห็นว่าโยเซฟทิ้งเสื้อไว้ในมือแล้ววิ่งออกไป
13When she saw that he had left his garment in her hand, and had run outside,
14เธอก็เรียกผู้ชายในบ้านมาพูดว่า “เจ้านายของพวกคุณพาชาวฮีบรูคนนี้เข้ามาอยู่กับเราเพื่อให้มาหยามพวกเรา เขาเข้ามาจะนอนกับฉัน ฉันก็ร้องเสียงดัง
14she called to the men of her house, and spoke to them, saying, “Behold, he has brought a Hebrew in to us to mock us. He came in to me to lie with me, and I cried with a loud voice.
15พอเขาได้ยินฉันร้องตะโกน เขาก็ทิ้งเสื้อไว้ข้างๆ ฉันแล้ววิ่งออกไปข้างนอก”
15When he heard that I lifted up my voice and cried, he left his garment by me, and ran outside.”
16เธอเก็บเสื้อของโยเซฟไว้ข้างตัวจนสามีกลับมาบ้าน
16She laid up his garment by her, until his master came home.
17แล้วเล่าเรื่องแบบเดียวกันให้สามีฟังว่า “คนรับใช้ชาวฮีบรูที่คุณพาเข้ามาอยู่กับเราเข้ามาหยามฉัน
17She spoke to him according to these words, saying, “The Hebrew servant, whom you have brought to us, came in to me to mock me,
18พอฉันร้องตะโกน เขาก็ทิ้งเสื้อไว้ข้างๆ ฉันแล้ววิ่งออกไปข้างนอก”
18and as I lifted up my voice and cried, he left his garment by me, and ran outside.”
19เมื่อนายของโยเซฟได้ยินภรรยาพูดว่า “คนรับใช้ของคุณทำกับฉันอย่างนี้” เขาก็โกรธจัด
19When his master heard the words of his wife, which she spoke to him, saying, “This is what your servant did to me,” his wrath was kindled.
20นายของโยเซฟจับเขาไปขังในเรือนจำซึ่งใช้คุมขังนักโทษของกษัตริย์ โยเซฟจึงถูกขังอยู่ที่นั่น
20Joseph’s master took him, and put him into the prison, the place where the king’s prisoners were bound, and he was there in custody.
21แต่พระยาห์เวห์ยังอยู่กับโยเซฟ แสดงความเมตตาต่อเขา และทำให้ผู้คุมเรือนจำเอ็นดูเขา
21But the LORD was with Joseph, and showed kindness to him, and gave him favor in the sight of the keeper of the prison.
22ผู้คุมเรือนจำมอบนักโทษทั้งหมดในเรือนจำให้โยเซฟดูแล และทุกอย่างที่พวกเขาทำที่นั่นอยู่ในความรับผิดชอบของโยเซฟ
22The keeper of the prison committed to Joseph’s hand all the prisoners who were in the prison. Whatever they did there, he was responsible for it.
23ผู้คุมเรือนจำไม่ต้องตรวจตราอะไรที่อยู่ในความดูแลของโยเซฟ เพราะพระยาห์เวห์อยู่กับเขา และพระยาห์เวห์ทำให้ทุกสิ่งที่เขาทำสำเร็จ
23The keeper of the prison didn’t look after anything that was under his hand, because the LORD was with him; and that which he did, the LORD made it prosper.
