Berean Standard Bible
1IEJUJ ap kotin kaparok on pokon o japwilim a tounpadak kan,
1Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples:
2Majani; Jaunkawewe o Parijar akan kin mondi nan deun Mojej.
2“The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses’ seat.
3Ari, karoj me re indan komail, i me komail en wia o kapwaiada, a dor ale jaw ar wiawia kan; pwe irail kin indada, ap jota kapwaiada.
3So practice and observe everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.
4Re kin pira pena kapwa en wijik me toutou melel, ap kidan pon apar en aramaj, a irail jota men jairki jondin pa arail.
4They tie up heavy, burdensome loads and lay them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
5O re kin kapwaiada ar wiawia kan karoj, pwe aramaj en ududial. Pwe irail kin kadalape ar kijin likau en kataman o kalaudela ni kailan ar likau.
5All their deeds are done for men to see. They broaden their phylacteries and lengthen their tassels.
6Irail kin nonki mondi ni tapin tepel ni kamadip o, o leppandam nan jinakoke kan.
6They love the places of honor at banquets, the chief seats in the synagogues,
7O re kin mauki, aramaj en ranamau on irail nan deun net, o aramaj en wia kin ir Rapi, Rapi,
7the greetings in the marketplaces, and the title of ‘Rabbi’ by which they are addressed.
8A komail der wonki, aramaj en wia kin komail Rapi, pwe me ta men omail Jaunpadak, a komail pirien pena.
8But you are not to be called ‘Rabbi,’ for you have one Teacher, and you are all brothers.
9O komail der kaadaneki meamen jam nan jappa, pwe amen Jam omail, me kotikot nanlan.
9And do not call anyone on earth your father, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.
10O komail der nonki, aramaj en wia kin komail jaumaj, pwe me ta men omail Jaumaj: Krijtuj.
10Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one Instructor, the Christ.
11A me lapalap re omail, en omail papa.
11The greatest among you shall be your servant.
12Pwe me pan kajapwilada pein i, pan japwilidi, a me pan Kujapwilidi pein i, pan kajapwilada.
12For whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
13Juedi on komail jaunkawewe o Parijar akan, malaun komail! Komail kin ritinidi wein nanlan mon aramaj akan, pwe komail jota pan pedelon, a me men pedelon, komail jota kin mueid on.
13Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men’s faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let in those who wish to enter.
14Juedi on komail jaunkawewe o Parijar akan, malaun komail! Komail me nopur jan im en li odi kan ap liliajoj kapakap reirei. Omail kalokolok pan laud melel.
no verse 14 in this text
15Juedi on komail jaunkawewe o Parijar akan, malaun komail! Komail kin pidipidaki jed o jap, pwen wiada projelit amen, a lao wialar, komail ap pan wia kin i toun pweleko amen, me jued jan komail.
15Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You traverse land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are.
16Juedi on komail jaunkalua majkun, komail me kin inda: Meamen kin kaukila im en kaudok, dene jota katepa, a me kin kaukila kold en im en kaudok, i me pun.
16Woe to you, blind guides! You say, ‘If anyone swears by the temple, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gold of the temple, he is bound by his oath.’
17Komail pweipwei o majkun, pwe da me kajampwal ren kold de im en kaudok o, me kin kajarauiala kold?
17You blind fools! Which is greater: the gold, or the temple that makes it sacred?
18O meamen kin kaukila pei jaraui, dene jota katepa, a me kaukila mairon, me mi poa dene I me pun,
18And you say, ‘If anyone swears by the altar, it means nothing; but if anyone swears by the gift on it, he is bound by his oath.’
19Komail pweipwei o majkun, pwe da me kajampwal ren mairon de pei jaraui, me kin kajarauiala mairon?
19You blind men! Which is greater: the gift, or the altar that makes it sacred?
20Ari, meamen kaukila pei jaraui, kin kaukila i o meakan, me mi poa.
20So then, he who swears by the altar swears by it and by everything on it.
21O meamen kaukila im en kaudok, kin kaukila i ianaki i me kotikot lole.
21And he who swears by the temple swears by it and by the One who dwells in it.
22O me kaukila nanlan, kin kaukila mol en Kot o me kin kaipokedi on poa.
22And he who swears by heaven swears by God’s throne and by the One who sits on it.
23Juedi on komail jaunkawewe o Parijar akan, malaun komail! Komail kin maironki eijokkij eu en minje, o til, o kimel, ap jota injenoki kujoned en kapun kajampwal akan: Pun, o kadek, o pojon. Komail wiada mepukat, ap pil kapwaiada me tei kan!
23Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You pay tithes of mint, dill, and cumin. But you have disregarded the weightier matters of the law: justice, mercy, and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
24Jaunkalua majkun komail, me kin ijenoki kijin am enwel, ap katalala kamel!
24You blind guides! You strain out a gnat but swallow a camel.
25Juedi on komail jaunkawewe o Parijar akan, malaun komail! Pwe komail kin kamakelekel kajak o dal liki, a lol me dir en me re kuliada o me jued.
25Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and self-indulgence.
26Parijar majkun koe, kamakelekele maj lol en kajak o dal akan, pwe pali liki en pil makelekeleda!
26Blind Pharisee! First clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside may become clean as well.
27Juedi on komail jaunkawewe o Parijar akan, malaun komail! Komail rajon joujou kan, me jementen, me kin janjal kajelel, a lole me dir en ti en me melar akan o jow en jaut karoj.
27Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside, but on the inside are full of dead men’s bones and every kind of impurity.
28I duen komail, me janjal pun mon aramaj, a lole komail me dir en malaun o japun.
28In the same way, on the outside you appear to be righteous, but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness.
29Juedi on komail jaunkawewe o Parijar akan, malaun komail! Pwe komail kin apapwali joujou en jaukop akan o kapwataki joujou en me pun kan.
29Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You build tombs for the prophets and decorate the monuments of the righteous.
30Ap inda: Ma kit mia ni muein jam atail akan, kit jota pan ian irail kamela jaukop akan.
30And you say, ‘If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partners with them in shedding the blood of the prophets.’
31Ari, pein komail kin kadede, me komail nain me kamelar jaukop akan.
31So you testify against yourselves that you are the sons of those who murdered the prophets.
32A komail kaunjokala wiawia en jam omail akan!
32Fill up, then, the measure of the sin of your fathers.
33Komail jerpent o wan oter akan! Pala komail pan piti jan kadeik en nan pweleko?
33You snakes! You brood of vipers! How will you escape the sentence of hell?
34Kilan, i me I kadara don komail jaukop akai, o me lolekon kai, o jaunkawewe kai; a akai irail, me komail pan kamela, o kalopuela, o akai komail pan kaloke nan omail jinakoke kan, o komail pan paki irail jan nan eu kanim on nan eu.
34Because of this, I am sending you prophets and wise men and teachers. Some of them you will kill and crucify, and others you will flog in your synagogues and persecute in town after town.
35Pwen kapokon on komail nta makelekel karoj, me kapwilipwilidier nan jappa jan ntan Apel pun kokodo lei ntan Jakariaj, nain Parakiaj, me komail kamelar nan pun en im en kaudok o pei jaraui.
35And so upon you will come all the righteous blood shed on earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar.
36Melel I indai on komail, mepukat pan pwai on di wet.
36Truly I tell you, all these things will come upon this generation.
37O Ierujalem, Ierujalem, me kin kamela jaukop akan o kate me pakadara don uk kan; pan pak toto. me I pan kapokon pena noumail akan, duen litok kin kompwal pena na purok kan pan pa a, a komail kan.
37O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those sent to her, how often I have longed to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were unwilling!
38Kilan, im omail pan tanla.
38Look, your house is left to you desolate.
39Pwe I indai on komail, komail jolar pan kilan ia jan ni anjau wet, lao komail pan inda: Meid iajanai, me kotido ni mar en Kaun o!
39For I tell you that you will not see Me again until you say, ‘Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord.’”
