1Dit is de geslachtslijst van de zonen van Noë: van Sem, Cham en Jáfet; want hun werden na de zondvloed zonen geboren.
1Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.
2De zonen van Jáfet zijn Gómer, Magog, Madai, Jawan, Toebal, Mésjek en Tiras.
2The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras.
3De zonen van Gómer: Asjkenaz, Rifat en Togarma.
3And the sons of Gomer; Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah.
4De zonen van Jawan: Elisja, Tarsjisj, de Kittiërs en de Rodiërs;
4And the sons of Javan; Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim.
5dezen hebben zich over de kustlanden der volken verdeeld. Dit zijn de zonen van Jáfet volgens hun landen, elk naar zijn taal, zijn stam en zijn volk.
5By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.
6De zonen van Cham zijn Koesj, Egypte, Poet en Kanaän.
6¶ And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan.
7De zonen van Koesj zijn Seba, Chawila, Sabta, Rama en Sabteka. De zonen van Rama zijn Sjeba en Dedan.
7And the sons of Cush; Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha: and the sons of Raamah; Sheba, and Dedan.
8Koesj verwekte ook Nimrod. Deze begon machtig te worden op aarde;
8And Cush begat Nimrod: he began to be a mighty one in the earth.
9hij was een geweldig jager voor Jahweh. Daarom zegt men “Een geweldig jager voor Jahweh als Nimrod”.
9He was a mighty hunter before the LORD : wherefore it is said, Even as Nimrod the mighty hunter before the LORD .
10Aanvankelijk heerste hij over Babel, Erek, Akkad en Kalne, in het land Sjinar;
10And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar.
11maar van dat land rukte hij naar Assjoer op, waar hij Ninive bouwde, Rechobot-Ir en Kálach,
11Out of that land went forth Asshur, and builded Nineveh, and the city Rehoboth, and Calah,
12en Résen tussen Ninive en Kálach; dit is de grote stad.
12And Resen between Nineveh and Calah: the same is a great city.
13Egypte bracht de Loedieten voort, de Anamieten, de Lehabieten en de Naftoechieten,
13And Mizraim begat Ludim, and Anamim, and Lehabim, and Naphtuhim,
14de Patroesieten en de Kasloechieten, waar de Filistijnen en de Kaftorieten uit voortgekomen zijn.
14And Pathrusim, and Casluhim, (out of whom came Philistim,) and Caphtorim.
15Kanaän verwekte Sidon, zijn eerstgeborene, en Chet;
15¶ And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,
16verder de Jeboesieten, Amorieten en de Girgasjieten,
16And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite,
17de Chiwwieten, Arkieten en Sinieten,
17And the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite,
18de Arwadieten, Semarieten en Chamatieten. Later werden de stammen der Kanaänieten verspreid,
18And the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite: and afterward were the families of the Canaanites spread abroad.
19zodat het gebied der Kanaänieten zich uitstrekte van Sidon af in de richting van Gerar tot Gaza toe, en in de richting van Sodoma, Gomorra, Adma en Seboim tot Lésja toe.
19And the border of the Canaanites was from Sidon, as thou comest to Gerar, unto Gaza; as thou goest, unto Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, even unto Lasha.
20Dit zijn de zonen van Cham volgens hun stammen en talen, naar hun landen en volken.
20These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their countries, and in their nations.
21Ook Sem, den stamvader van de zonen van Eber en oudsten broer van Jáfet, werden kinderen geboren.
21¶ Unto Shem also, the father of all the children of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder, even to him were children born.
22De zonen van Sem zijn Elam, Assjoer, Arpaksad, Loed en Aram.
22The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram.
23De zonen van Aram zijn Oes, Choel, Géter en Masj.
23And the children of Aram; Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash.
24Arpaksad verwekte Sála, en Sála weer Eber.
24And Arphaxad begat Salah; and Salah begat Eber.
25Eber had twee zonen; de eerste heette Páleg, omdat in zijn tijd de aarde verdeeld werd; zijn broer heette Joktan.
25And unto Eber were born two sons: the name of one was Peleg; for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother’s name was Joktan.
26Joktan verwekte Almodad en Sjélef, Chasarmáwet en Jérach,
26And Joktan begat Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah,
27Hadoram, Oezal en Dikla,
27And Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah,
28Obal, Abimaël, Sjeba,
28And Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba,
29Ofir, Chawila en Jobab: allen zonen van Joktan.
29And Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were the sons of Joktan.
30Zij woonden van Mesja af in de richting van Sefar, een gebergte in het oosten.
30And their dwelling was from Mesha, as thou goest unto Sephar a mount of the east.
31Dit zijn de zonen van Sem volgens hun stammen en talen, naar hun landen en volken.
31These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations.
32Dit zijn dan de geslachten van de zonen van Noë naar hun stammen en volken; uit hen zijn de volken voortgekomen, die zich na de zondvloed over de aarde hebben verspreid.
32These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.
