Psalmorum 2

Clementine Vulgate, 1598
World English Bible
1[Quare fremuerunt gentes, et populi meditati sunt inania?
1Why do the nations rage, and the peoples plot a vain thing?
2Astiterunt reges terræ, et principes convenerunt in unum adversus Dominum, et adversus christum ejus.
2The kings of the earth take a stand, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his Anointed, saying,
3Dirumpamus vincula eorum, et projiciamus a nobis jugum ipsorum.
3“Let’s break their bonds apart, and cast their cords from us.”
4Qui habitat in cælis irridebit eos, et Dominus subsannabit eos.
4He who sits in the heavens will laugh. The Lord will have them in derision.
5Tunc loquetur ad eos in ira sua, et in furore suo conturbabit eos.
5Then he will speak to them in his anger, and terrify them in his wrath:
6Ego autem constitutus sum rex ab eo super Sion, montem sanctum ejus, prædicans præceptum ejus.
6“Yet I have set my King on my holy hill of Zion.”
7Dominus dixit ad me: Filius meus es tu; ego hodie genui te.
7I will tell of the decree: The LORD said to me, “You are my son. Today I have become your father.
8Postula a me, et dabo tibi gentes hæreditatem tuam, et possessionem tuam terminos terræ.
8Ask of me, and I will give the nations for your inheritance, the uttermost parts of the earth for your possession.
9Reges eos in virga ferrea, et tamquam vas figuli confringes eos.
9You shall break them with a rod of iron. You shall dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel.”
10Et nunc, reges, intelligite; erudimini, qui judicatis terram.
10Now therefore be wise, you kings. Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11Servite Domino in timore, et exsultate ei cum tremore.
11Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling.
12Apprehendite disciplinam, nequando irascatur Dominus, et pereatis de via justa.
12Give sincere homage to the Son, lest he be angry, and you perish on the way, for his wrath will soon be kindled. Blessed are all those who take refuge in him.
13Cum exarserit in brevi ira ejus, beati omnes qui confidunt in eo.]
