1Behold, I send My messenger, and he shall clear the way before Me; and the Lord, whom ye seek, will suddenly come to His temple, and the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in, behold, he cometh, saith the LORD of hosts.
1“เราจะส่งผู้ส่งสารของเราไป เขาจะเตรียมทางไว้ข้างหน้าเรา! พระผู้เป็นเจ้าที่พวกคุณแสวงหาจะมาที่วิหารของพระองค์อย่างฉับพลัน ผู้ส่งสารแห่งพันธสัญญาที่พวกคุณปรารถนากำลังมา!” พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว
2But who may abide the day of his coming? And who shall stand when he appeareth? For he is like a refiner's fire, and like fullers' soap;
2“แต่ใครจะทนวันแห่งการมาของเขาได้? ใครจะยืนอยู่ได้เมื่อเขาปรากฏ? เพราะเขาเหมือนไฟของช่างหลอมโลหะ และเหมือนสบู่ของคนซักผ้า
3And he shall sit as a refiner and purifier of silver; and he shall purify the sons of Levi, and purge them as gold and silver; and there shall be they that shall offer unto the LORD offerings in righteousness.
3เขาจะนั่งหลอมเงินให้บริสุทธิ์ เขาจะชำระลูกหลานชายของเลวีให้บริสุทธิ์ และหลอมพวกเขาให้บริสุทธิ์เหมือนหลอมทองคำและเงิน แล้วพวกเขาจะถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระยาห์เวห์ด้วยความชอบธรรม
4Then shall the offering of Judah and Jerusalem be pleasant unto the LORD, as in the days of old, and as in ancient years.
4เครื่องบูชาของยูดาห์และเยรูซาเล็มจะเป็นที่พอใจของพระยาห์เวห์ เหมือนในวันเก่าก่อนและปีในอดีต
5And I will come near to you to judgment; and I will be a swift witness against the sorcerers, and against the adulterers, and against false swearers; and against those that oppress the hireling in his wages, the widow, and the fatherless, and that turn aside the stranger from his right, and fear not Me, saith the LORD of hosts.
5เราจะเข้ามาใกล้พวกคุณเพื่อพิพากษา จะเป็นพยานโดยไม่ชักช้า กล่าวโทษคนที่ใช้เวทมนตร์ คนที่ล่วงประเวณี คนที่สาบานเท็จ คนที่เอาเปรียบลูกจ้างเรื่องค่าจ้าง คนที่กดขี่แม่ม่ายและเด็กกำพร้าพ่อ คนที่พรากความยุติธรรมจากคนต่างถิ่น และไม่ยำเกรงเรา” พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว
6For I the LORD change not; and ye, O sons of Jacob, are not consumed.
6“เพราะเรา พระยาห์เวห์ ไม่เปลี่ยนแปลง พวกคุณลูกหลานยาโคบจึงไม่ถูกทำลายจนสิ้นสูญ
7From the days of your fathers ye have turned aside from Mine ordinances, and have not kept them. Return unto Me, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts. But ye say: 'Wherein shall we return?'
7ตั้งแต่สมัยบรรพบุรุษ พวกคุณหันออกจากข้อกำหนดของเรา ไม่ปฏิบัติตาม จงกลับมาหาเรา แล้วเราจะกลับมาหาพวกคุณ” พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว “แต่พวกคุณถามว่า ‘พวกเราจะกลับมาอย่างไร?’
8Will a man rob God? Yet ye rob Me. But ye say: 'Wherein have we robbed Thee?' In tithes and heave-offerings.
8มนุษย์จะปล้นพระเจ้าหรือ? แต่พวกคุณปล้นเรา! พวกคุณถามว่า ‘พวกเราปล้นพระองค์อย่างไร?’ ก็ในเรื่องส่วนหนึ่งในสิบและเครื่องบูชา
9Ye are cursed with the curse, yet ye rob Me, even this whole nation.
9พวกคุณต้องคำสาป เพราะพวกคุณปล้นเรา ทั้งชนชาตินี้เลย
10Bring ye the whole tithe into the store-house, that there may be food in My house, and try Me now herewith, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall be more than sufficiency.
10จงนำส่วนหนึ่งในสิบทั้งหมดเข้าไปในคลังเก็บ เพื่อให้มีอาหารในวิหารของเรา จงทดสอบเราในเรื่องนี้เดี๋ยวนี้” พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว “ดูสิว่าเราจะไม่เปิดหน้าต่างฟ้าสวรรค์ให้พวกคุณ และเทพรลงมาจนไม่มีที่พอจะรับเชียวหรือ
11And I will rebuke the devourer for your good, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your land; neither shall your vine cast its fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.
11เราจะกำราบตัวที่กินผลาญเพื่อพวกคุณ ตัวนั้นจะไม่ทำลายผลผลิตของแผ่นดิน และเถาองุ่นในทุ่งของพวกคุณจะไม่สลัดผลก่อนถึงเวลา” พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว
12And all nations shall call you happy; for ye shall be a delightsome land, saith the LORD of hosts.
12“ชนชาติทั้งหลายจะเรียกพวกคุณว่าผู้ได้รับพร เพราะพวกคุณจะเป็นแผ่นดินน่ารื่นรมย์” พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว
13Your words have been all too strong against Me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say: 'Wherein have we spoken against thee?'
13“คำพูดของพวกคุณแข็งกร้าวต่อเรา” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว “แต่พวกคุณถามว่า ‘พวกเราพูดอะไรต่อต้านพระองค์?’
14Ye have said: 'It is vain to serve God; and what profit is it that we have kept His charge, and that we have walked mournfully because of the LORD of hosts?
14พวกคุณพูดว่า ‘การรับใช้พระเจ้าไร้ประโยชน์’ และ ‘พวกเราได้ประโยชน์อะไรจากการทำตามคำสั่งของพระองค์ และดำเนินชีวิตอย่างโศกเศร้าต่อหน้าพระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพ?
15And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are built up; yea, they try God, and are delivered.'
15บัดนี้พวกเราเรียกคนหยิ่งว่าเป็นสุข คนทำชั่วกลับเจริญขึ้น พวกเขาท้าทายพระเจ้าแล้วยังรอดไปได้’”
16Then they that feared the LORD spoke one with another; and the LORD hearkened, and heard, and a book of remembrance was written before Him, for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon His name.
16แล้วผู้ที่ยำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์พูดกัน พระยาห์เวห์ตั้งใจฟังและได้ยิน มีหนังสือแห่งการจดจำเขียนไว้ต่อหน้าพระองค์ สำหรับผู้ที่ยำเกรงพระยาห์เวห์และให้เกียรตินามของพระองค์
17And they shall be Mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in the day that I do make, even Mine own treasure; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
17“พวกเขาจะเป็นของเรา” พระยาห์เวห์จอมทัพกล่าว “เป็นสมบัติของเราเองในวันที่เราลงมือทำ เราจะละเว้นพวกเขาไว้ เหมือนคนละเว้นลูกชายของตนที่รับใช้พ่อ
18Then shall ye again discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not.
18แล้วพวกคุณจะกลับมาแยกแยะคนชอบธรรมกับคนชั่วร้าย คนรับใช้พระเจ้ากับคนไม่รับใช้พระองค์ได้”
