1Hear ye this word which I take up for a lamentation over you, O house of Israel:
1ตระกูลอิสราเอล จงฟังถ้อยคำนี้ที่ข้าพเจ้าขับเป็นบทคร่ำครวญถึงพวกคุณ
2The virgin of Israel is fallen, she shall no more rise; she is cast down upon her land, there is none to raise her up.
2“หญิงพรหมจารีอิสราเอลล้มลงแล้ว เธอจะไม่ลุกขึ้นอีก เธอถูกทิ้งให้ล้มอยู่บนแผ่นดินของตน ไม่มีใครพยุงเธอขึ้น”
3For thus saith the Lord GOD: The city that went forth a thousand shall have a hundred left, and that which went forth a hundred shall have ten left, of the house of Israel.
3เพราะพระผู้เป็นเจ้า พระยาห์เวห์ กล่าวดังนี้ “เมืองที่มีคนออกไปหนึ่งพันคนจะเหลือหนึ่งร้อยคน เมืองที่มีคนออกไปหนึ่งร้อยคนจะเหลือสิบคนให้ตระกูลอิสราเอล”
4For thus saith the LORD unto the house of Israel: Seek ye Me, and live;
4เพราะพระยาห์เวห์กล่าวกับตระกูลอิสราเอลว่า “จงแสวงหาเรา แล้วพวกคุณจะมีชีวิต
5But seek not Beth-el, nor enter into Gilgal, and pass not to Beer-sheba; for Gilgal shall surely go into captivity, and Beth-el shall come to nought.
5แต่อย่าแสวงหาเบธเอล อย่าเข้าไปในกิลกาล อย่าข้ามไปเบเออร์เชบา เพราะกิลกาลจะถูกกวาดต้อนไปเป็นเชลยแน่นอน เบธเอลจะสิ้นสูญ
6Seek the LORD, and live — lest He break out like fire in the house of Joseph, and it devour, and there be none to quench it in Bethel —
6จงแสวงหาพระยาห์เวห์ แล้วพวกคุณจะมีชีวิต มิฉะนั้น พระองค์อาจปะทุเหมือนไฟในตระกูลโยเซฟ เผาผลาญจนไม่มีใครในเบธเอลดับได้
7Ye who turn judgment to wormwood, and cast righteousness to the ground;
7พวกคุณเปลี่ยนความยุติธรรมให้เป็นเวิร์มวูดอันขมขื่น และเหวี่ยงความชอบธรรมลงกับพื้น!
8Him that maketh the Pleiades and Orion, and bringeth on the shadow of death in the morning, and darkeneth the day into night; that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth; the LORD is His name;
8จงแสวงหาพระองค์ผู้สร้างกลุ่มดาวลูกไก่และกลุ่มดาวนายพราน ผู้เปลี่ยนเงาแห่งความตายเป็นรุ่งเช้า ทำให้กลางวันมืดลงเป็นกลางคืน ผู้เรียกน้ำจากทะเล เทลงบนผืนแผ่นดิน พระยาห์เวห์คือชื่อของพระองค์
9That causeth destruction to flash upon the strong, so that destruction cometh upon the fortress.
9ผู้ทำให้การทำลายล้างเกิดขึ้นฉับพลันแก่คนแข็งแกร่ง จนป้อมปราการถูกทำลาย
10They hate him that reproveth in the gate, and they abhor him that speaketh uprightly.
10พวกเขาเกลียดผู้ตักเตือนที่ประตูเมือง รังเกียจผู้พูดอย่างไร้ที่ติ
11Therefore, because ye trample upon the poor, and take from him exactions of wheat; ye have built houses of hewn stone, but ye shall not dwell in them, ye have planted pleasant vineyards, but ye shall not drink wine thereof.
11เพราะพวกคุณเหยียบย่ำคนจนและเก็บข้าวสาลีเป็นภาษีจากเขา แม้พวกคุณสร้างบ้านด้วยหินสกัด ก็จะไม่ได้อาศัยอยู่ แม้ปลูกสวนองุ่นงาม ก็จะไม่ได้ดื่มเหล้าองุ่นจากสวนเหล่านั้น
12For I know how manifold are your transgressions, and how mighty are your sins; ye that afflict the just, that take a ransom, and that turn aside the needy in the gate.
12เรารู้ว่าความผิดของพวกคุณมากเพียงใด และบาปของพวกคุณหนักเพียงใด พวกคุณเบียดเบียนคนชอบธรรม รับสินบน และปฏิเสธคนยากไร้ในศาล
13Therefore the prudent doth keep silence in such a time; for it is an evil time.
13เพราะฉะนั้น คนรอบคอบจึงนิ่งเงียบในเวลาเช่นนี้ เพราะเป็นเวลาที่ชั่วร้าย
14Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live; and so the LORD, the God of hosts, will be with you, as ye say.
14จงแสวงหาความดี อย่าแสวงหาความชั่ว เพื่อพวกคุณจะมีชีวิต แล้วพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าแห่งกองทัพทั้งหลาย จะอยู่กับพวกคุณ ตามที่พวกคุณกล่าว
15Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish justice in the gate; it may be that the LORD, the God of hosts, will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph.
15จงเกลียดความชั่ว รักความดี และให้ความยุติธรรมตั้งมั่นในศาล บางทีพระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าแห่งกองทัพทั้งหลาย อาจแสดงความเมตตาต่อคนที่เหลืออยู่ของโยเซฟ”
16Therefore thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the Lord: Lamentation shall be in all the broad places, and they shall say in all the streets: 'Alas! alas!' and they shall call the husbandman to mourning, and proclaim lamentation to such as are skilful of wailing.
16เพราะฉะนั้น พระยาห์เวห์ พระเจ้าแห่งกองทัพทั้งหลาย พระผู้เป็นเจ้า กล่าวดังนี้ “จะมีเสียงคร่ำครวญตามถนนใหญ่ทุกสาย ตามถนนทุกสาย ผู้คนจะร้องว่า ‘อนิจจา! อนิจจา!’ พวกเขาจะเรียกชาวนามาไว้ทุกข์ และเรียกผู้ที่ชำนาญในการคร่ำครวญมาร้องไห้
17And in all vineyards shall be lamentation; for I will pass through the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
17ในสวนองุ่นทุกแห่งจะมีเสียงคร่ำครวญ เพราะเราจะผ่านไปท่ามกลางพวกคุณ” พระยาห์เวห์กล่าว
18Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! Wherefore would ye have the day of the LORD? It is darkness, and not light.
18“วิบัติแก่พวกคุณที่ปรารถนาวันของพระยาห์เวห์! ทำไมพวกคุณจึงเฝ้าคอยวันของพระยาห์เวห์? วันนั้นเป็นความมืด ไม่ใช่แสงสว่าง
19As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; and went into the house and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
19เหมือนคนที่หนีสิงโต แล้วเจอหมี หรือเข้าบ้าน เอามือยันกำแพง แล้วงูกัด
20Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? Even very dark, and no brightness in it?
20วันของพระยาห์เวห์จะเป็นความมืด ไม่ใช่แสงสว่าง มิใช่หรือ? มืดทึบ ไม่มีประกายสว่างเลย มิใช่หรือ?
21I hate, I despise your feasts, and I will take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
21เราเกลียด เรารังเกียจงานฉลองของพวกคุณ เราทนการชุมนุมอย่างเคร่งขรึมของพวกคุณไม่ได้
22Yea, though ye offer me burnt-offerings and your meal-offerings, I will not accept them; neither will I regard the peace-offerings of your fat beasts.
22แม้พวกคุณถวายเครื่องเผาบูชาและเครื่องบูชาจากธัญพืชแก่เรา เราก็จะไม่รับ เราจะไม่เหลียวแลเครื่องบูชาเพื่อสันติจากสัตว์อ้วนพีของพวกคุณ
23Take thou away from Me the noise of thy songs; and let Me not hear the melody of thy psalteries.
23เอาเสียงเพลงของพวกคุณออกไปให้พ้นเรา! เราจะไม่ฟังเสียงพิณของพวกคุณ
24But let justice well up as waters, and righteousness as a mighty stream.
24แต่จงให้ความยุติธรรมไหลไปเหมือนแม่น้ำ ให้ความชอบธรรมไหลเหมือนลำธารเชี่ยวกราก
25Did ye bring unto Me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness forty years, O house of Israel?
25“ตระกูลอิสราเอล พวกคุณนำเครื่องบูชาและของถวายมาให้เราในถิ่นทุรกันดารตลอดสี่สิบปีหรือ?
26So shall ye take up Siccuth your king and Chiun your images, the star of your god, which ye made to yourselves.
26พวกคุณยังแบกกระโจมของกษัตริย์ของพวกคุณ และที่บูชารูปเคารพของพวกคุณ ดาวแห่งเทพเจ้าของพวกคุณ ที่พวกคุณทำขึ้นเอง
27Therefore will I cause you to go into captivity beyond Damascus, saith He, whose name is the LORD God of hosts.
27เพราะฉะนั้น เราจะทำให้พวกคุณถูกกวาดต้อนไปเป็นเชลยเลยดามัสกัสออกไป” พระยาห์เวห์ ผู้มีชื่อว่า พระเจ้าแห่งกองทัพทั้งหลาย กล่าว
