1Now there happened to be there a base fellow, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjamite; and he blew the horn, and said: 'We have no portion in David, neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse; every man to his tents, O Israel.'
1在那里恰巧有一个匪徒，名叫 示巴 ，是 便雅悯 人 比基利 的儿子。他吹角，说：「我们与 大卫 无分，与 耶西 的儿子无涉。 以色列 人哪，你们各回各家去吧！」
2So all the men of Israel went up from following David, and followed Sheba the son of Bichri; but the men of Judah did cleave unto their king, from the Jordan even to Jerusalem.
2于是 以色列 人都离开 大卫 ，跟随 比基利 的儿子 示巴 。但 犹大 人从 约旦河 直到 耶路撒冷 ，都紧紧跟随他们的王。
3And David came to his house at Jerusalem; and the king took the ten women his concubines, whom he had left to keep the house, and put them in ward, and provided them with sustenance, but went not in unto them. So they were shut up unto the day of their death, in widowhood, with their husband alive.
3大卫 王来到 耶路撒冷 ，进了宫殿，就把从前留下看守宫殿的十个妃嫔禁闭在 冷宫 ，养活她们，不与她们亲近。她们如同寡妇被禁，直到死的日子。
4Then said the king to Amasa: 'Call me the men of Judah together within three days, and be thou here present.'

5So Amasa went to call the men of Judah together; but he tarried longer than the set time which he had appointed him.

6And David said to Abishai: 'Now will Sheba the son of Bichri do us more harm than did Absalom; take thou thy lord's servants, and pursue after him, lest he get him fortified cities, and escape out of our sight.'
6大卫 对 亚比筛 说：「现在恐怕 比基利 的儿子 示巴 加害于我们比 押沙龙 更甚。你要带领你主的仆人追赶他，免得他得了坚固城，躲避我们。」
7And there went out after him Joab's men, and the Cherethites and the Pelethites, and all the mighty men; and they went out of Jerusalem, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
7约押 的人和 基利提 人、 比利提 人，并所有的勇士，都跟着 亚比筛 ，从 耶路撒冷 出去追赶 比基利 的儿子 示巴 。
8When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa came to meet them. And Joab was girded with his apparel of war that he had put on, and thereon was a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.
8他们到了 基遍 的大磐石那里， 亚玛撒 来迎接他们。那时 约押 穿着战衣，腰束佩刀的带子，刀在鞘内； 约押 前行，刀从鞘内掉出来。
9And Joab said to Amasa: 'Is it well with thee, my brother?' And Joab took Amasa by the beard with his right hand to kiss him.
9约押 左手拾起刀来 ，对 亚玛撒 说：「我兄弟，你好啊！」就用右手抓住 亚玛撒 的胡子，要与他亲嘴。
10But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand; so he smote him therewith in the groin, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. And Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.
10亚玛撒 没有防备 约押 手里所拿的刀； 约押 用刀刺入他的肚腹，他的肠子流在地上，没有再刺他，就死了。 约押 和他兄弟 亚比筛 往前追赶 比基利 的儿子 示巴 。
11And there stood by him one of Joab's young men, and said: 'He that favoureth Joab, and he that is for David let him follow Joab.'
11有 约押 的一个少年人站在 亚玛撒 尸身旁边， 对众人 说：「谁喜悦 约押 ，谁归顺 大卫 ，就当跟随 约押 去。」
12And Amasa lay wallowing in his blood in the midst of the highway. And when the man saw that all the people stood still, he carried Amasa out of the highway into the field, and cast a garment over him, when he saw that every one that came by him stood still.
12亚玛撒 在道路上滚在自己的血里。那人见众民 经过 都站住，就把 亚玛撒 的尸身从路上挪到田间，用衣服遮盖。
13When he was removed out of the highway, all the people went on after Joab, to pursue after Sheba the son of Bichri.
13尸身从路上挪移之后，众民就都跟随 约押 去追赶 比基利 的儿子 示巴 。
14And he went through all the tribes of Israel unto Abel, and to Beth-maacah, and all the Berites; and they were gathered together, and went in also after him.
14他走遍 以色列 各支派，直到 伯·玛迦 的 亚比拉 ，并 比利 人的全地；那些地方的人也都聚集跟随他。
15And they came and besieged him in Abel of Beth-maacah, and they cast up a mound against the city, and it stood in the moat; and all the people that were with Joab battered the wall, to throw it down.
15约押 和跟随的人到了 伯·玛迦 的 亚比拉 ，围困 示巴 ，就对着城筑垒；跟随 约押 的众民 用锤 撞城，要使城塌陷。
16Then cried a wise woman out of the city: 'Hear, hear; say, I pray you, unto Joab: Come near hither, that I may speak with thee.'
16有一个聪明妇人从城上呼叫说：「听啊，听啊，请 约押 近前来，我好与他说话。」
17And he came near unto her; and the woman said: 'Art thou Joab?' And he answered: 'I am.' Then she said unto him: 'Hear the words of thy handmaid.' And he answered: 'I do hear.'
17约押 就近前来，妇人问他说：「你是 约押 不是？」他说：「我是。」妇人说：「求你听婢女的话。」 约押 说：「我听。」
18Then she spoke, saying: 'They were wont to speak in old time, saying: They shall surely ask counsel at Abel; and so they ended the matter.
18妇人说：「古时有话说，当先在 亚比拉 求问，然后事就定妥。
19We are of them that are peaceable and faithful in Israel; seekest thou to destroy a city and a mother in Israel? why wilt thou swallow up the inheritance of the LORD?'
19我们这城的人在 以色列 人中是和平、忠厚的。你为何要毁坏 以色列 中的大城，吞灭耶和华的产业呢？」
20And Joab answered and said: 'Far be it, far be it from me, that I should swallow up or destroy.
20约押 回答说：「我决不吞灭毁坏，
21The matter is not so; but a man of the hill-country of Ephraim, Sheba the son of Bichri by name, hath lifted up his hand against the king, even against David; deliver him only, and I will depart from the city.' And the woman said unto Joab: 'Behold, his head shall be thrown to thee over the wall.'
21乃因 以法莲 山地的一个人— 比基利 的儿子 示巴 —举手攻击 大卫 王，你们若将他一人交出来，我便离城而去。」妇人对 约押 说：「那人的首级必从城墙上丢给你。」
22Then the woman went unto all the people in her wisdom. And they cut off the head of Sheba the son of Bichri, and threw it out to Joab. And he blew the horn, and they were dispersed from the city, every man to his tent. And Joab returned to Jerusalem unto the king.
22妇人就凭她的智慧去劝众人。他们便割下 比基利 的儿子 示巴 的首级，丢给 约押 。 约押 吹角，众人就离城而散，各归各家去了。 约押 回 耶路撒冷 ，到王那里。
23Now Joab was over all the host of Israel; and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the Cherethites and over the Pelethites;
23约押 作 以色列 全军的元帅； 耶何耶大 的儿子 比拿雅 统辖 基利提 人和 比利提 人；
24and Adoram was over the levy; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was the recorder;
24亚多兰 掌管服苦的人； 亚希律 的儿子 约沙法 作史官；
25and Sheva was scribe; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;
25示法 作书记； 撒督 和 亚比亚他 作祭司 长 ；
26and Ira also the Jairite was chief minister unto David.
