1And Rehoboam went to Shechem; for all Israel were come to Shechem to make him king.
1罗波安 往 示剑 去；因为 以色列 人都到了 示剑 要立他作王。
2And it came to pass, when Jeroboam the son of Nebat heard of it — for he was yet in Egypt, whither he had fled from the presence of king Solomon, and Jeroboam dwelt in Egypt,
2尼八 的儿子 耶罗波安 先前躲避 所罗门 王，逃往 埃及 ，住在那里（他听见这事。）
3and they sent and called him — that Jeroboam and all the congregation of Israel came, and spoke unto Rehoboam, saying:
3以色列 人打发人去请他来，他就和 以色列 会众都来见 罗波安 ，对他说：
4'Thy father made our yoke grievous; now therefore make thou the grievous service of thy father, and his heavy yoke which he put upon us, lighter, and we will serve thee.'
4「你父亲使我们负重轭， 做苦工 ，现在求你使我们做的苦工、负的重轭轻松些，我们就事奉你。」
5And he said unto them: 'Depart yet for three days, then come again to me.' And the people departed.
5罗波安 对他们说：「你们暂且去，第三日再来见我。」民就去了。
6And king Rehoboam took counsel with the old men, that had stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, saying: 'What counsel give ye me to return answer to this people?'
6罗波安 之父 所罗门 在世的日子，有侍立在他面前的老年人， 罗波安 王和他们商议，说：「你们给我出个什么主意，我好回复这民。」
7And they spoke unto him, saying: 'If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.'
7老年人对他说：「现在王若服事这民如仆人，用好话回答他们，他们就永远作王的仆人。」
8But he forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him, and took counsel with the young men that were grown up with him, that stood before him.
8王却不用老年人给他出的主意，就和那些与他一同长大、在他面前侍立的少年人商议，
9And he said unto them: 'What counsel give ye, that we may return answer to this people, who have spoken to me, saying: Make the yoke that thy father did put upon us lighter?'
9说：「这民对我说：『你父亲使我们负重轭，求你使我们轻松些。』你们给我出个什么主意，我好回复他们。」
10And the young men that were grown up with him spoke unto him, saying: 'Thus shalt thou say unto this people that spoke unto thee, saying: Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou speak unto them: My little finger is thicker than my father's loins.
10那同他长大的少年人说：「这民对王说：『你父亲使我们负重轭，求你使我们轻松些。』王要对他们如此说：『我的小拇指头比我父亲的腰还粗。
11And now whereas my father did burden you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.'
11我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭！我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子 鞭 责打你们！』」
12So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king bade, saying: 'Come to me again the third day.'
12耶罗波安 和众百姓遵着 罗波安 王所说「你们第三日再来见我」的那话，第三日他们果然来了。
13And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the counsel of the old men which they had given him;
13王用严厉的话回答百姓，不用老年人给他所出的主意，
14and spoke to them after the counsel of the young men, saying: 'My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to your yoke; my father chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.'
14照着少年人所出的主意对民说：「我父亲使你们负重轭，我必使你们负更重的轭！我父亲用鞭子责打你们，我要用蝎子 鞭 责打你们！」
15So the king hearkened not unto the people; for it was a thing brought about of the LORD, that He might establish His word, which the LORD spoke by the hand of Ahijah the Shilonite to Jeroboam the son of Nebat.
15王不肯依从百姓，这事乃出于耶和华，为要应验他借 示罗 人 亚希雅 对 尼八 的儿子 耶罗波安 所说的话。
16And when all Israel saw that the king hearkened not unto them, the people answered the king, saying: 'What portion have we in David? neither have we inheritance in the son of Jesse; to your tents, O Israel; now see to thine own house, David.' So Israel departed unto their tents.
16以色列 众民见王不依从他们，就对王说： 我们与 大卫 有什么分儿呢？ 与 耶西 的儿子并没有关涉。 以色列 人哪，各回各家去吧！ 大卫 家啊，自己顾自己吧！ 于是， 以色列 人都回自己家里去了，
17But as for the children of Israel that dwelt in the cities of Judah, Rehoboam reigned over them.
17惟独住 犹大 城邑的 以色列 人， 罗波安 仍作他们的王。
18Then king Rehoboam sent Adoram, who was over the levy; and all Israel stoned him with stones, so that he died. And king Rehoboam made speed to get him up to his chariot, to flee to Jerusalem.
18罗波安 王差遣掌管服苦之人的 亚多兰 往 以色列 人那里去， 以色列 人就用石头打死他。 罗波安 王急忙上车，逃回 耶路撒冷 去了。
19So Israel rebelled against the house of David, unto this day.
19这样， 以色列 人背叛 大卫 家，直到今日。
20And it came to pass, when all Israel heard that Jeroboam was returned, that they sent and called him unto the congregation, and made him king over all Israel; there was none that followed the house of David, but the tribe of Judah only.
20以色列 众人听见 耶罗波安 回来了，就打发人去请他到会众面前，立他作 以色列 众人的王。除了 犹大 支派以外，没有顺从 大卫 家的。
21And when Rehoboam was come to Jerusalem, be assembled all the house of Judah, and the tribe of Benjamin, a hundred and fourscore thousand chosen men that were warriors, to fight against the house of Israel, to bring the kingdom back to Rehoboam the son of Solomon.
21罗波安 来到 耶路撒冷 ，招聚 犹大 全家和 便雅悯 支派的人共十八万，都是挑选的战士，要与 以色列 家争战，好将国夺回，再归 所罗门 的儿子 罗波安 。
22But the word of God came unto Shemaiah the man of God, saying:
22但 神的话临到神人 示玛雅 ，说：
23'Speak unto Rehoboam the son of Solomon, king of Judah, and unto all the house of Judah and Benjamin, and to the rest of the people, saying:
23「你去告诉 所罗门 的儿子 犹大 王 罗波安 和 犹大 、 便雅悯 全家，并其余的民说：
24Thus saith the LORD: Ye shall not go up, nor fight against your brethren the children of Israel; return every man to his house; for this thing is of Me.' So they hearkened unto the word of the LORD, and returned and went their way, according to the word of the LORD.
24『耶和华如此说：你们不可上去与你们的弟兄 以色列 人争战。各归各家去吧！因为这事出于我。』」众人就听从耶和华的话，遵着耶和华的命回去了。
25Then Jeroboam built Shechem in the hill-country of Ephraim, and dwelt therein; and he went out from thence, and built Penuel.
25耶罗波安 在 以法莲 山地建筑 示剑 ，就住在其中；又从 示剑 出去，建筑 毗努伊勒 。
26And Jeroboam said in his heart: 'Now will the kingdom return to the house of David.
26耶罗波安 心里说：「恐怕这国仍归 大卫 家；
27If this people go up to offer sacrifices in the house of the LORD at Jerusalem, then will the heart of this people turn back unto their lord, even unto Rehoboam king of Judah; and they will kill me, and return to Rehoboam king of Judah.'
27这民若上 耶路撒冷 去，在耶和华的殿里献祭，他们的心必归向他们的主— 犹大 王 罗波安 ，就把我杀了，仍归 犹大 王 罗波安 。」
28Whereupon the king took counsel, and made two calves of gold; and he said unto them: 'Ye have gone up long enough to Jerusalem; behold thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.'
28耶罗波安 王就筹划定妥，铸造了两个金牛犊，对众民说：「 以色列 人哪，你们上 耶路撒冷 去实在是难；这就是领你们出 埃及 地的神。」
29And he set the one in Beth-el, and the other put he in Dan.
29他就把牛犊一只安在 伯特利 ，一只安在 但 。
30And this thing became a sin; for the people went to worship before the one, even unto Dan.
30这事叫百姓陷在罪里，因为他们往 但 去 拜那牛犊 。
31And he made houses of high places, and made priests from among all the people, that were not of the sons of Levi.
31耶罗波安 在邱坛那里建殿，将那不属 利未 人的凡民立为祭司。
32And Jeroboam ordained a feast in the eighth month, on the fifteenth day of the month, like unto the feast that is in Judah, and he went up unto the altar; so did he in Beth-el, to sacrifice unto the calves that he had made; and he placed in Beth-el the priests of the high places that he had made.
32耶罗波安 定八月十五日为节期，像在 犹大 的节期一样，自己上坛 献祭 。他在 伯特利 也这样向他所铸的牛犊献祭，又将立为邱坛的祭司安置在 伯特利 。
33And he went up unto the altar which he had made in Beth-el on the fifteenth day in the eighth month, even in the month which he had devised of his own heart; and he ordained a feast for the children of Israel, and went up unto the altar, to offer.
33他在八月十五日，就是他私自所定的月日，为 以色列 人立作节期的日子，在 伯特利 上坛烧香。
