1And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne, a book written within and without, sealed with seven seals.
1私は、王座に座っておられる方の右手に、一つの巻物があるのを見た。それは内側にも外側にも文字が書かれ、七つの封印で封じられていた。
2And I saw a strong angel, proclaiming with a loud voice: Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof?
2また、一人の力強い御使いが大声で、「この巻物を開き、その封印を解くのにふさわしい者はだれか」と呼びかけるのを見た。
3And no man was able, neither in heaven, nor on earth, nor under the earth, to open the book, nor to look on it.
3しかし、天にも地にも地の下にも、この巻物を開くことも、その中を見ることもできる者は一人もいなかった。
4And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open the book, nor to see it.
4巻物を開くにも、その中を見るにもふさわしい者が見つからなかったので、私は声を上げて泣いた。
5And one of the ancients said to me: Weep not; behold the lion of the tribe of Juda, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
5すると、長老の一人が私に言った。「泣くことはない。見よ、ユダ族の獅子、ダビデの根である方が勝利を得た。この方こそ、巻物とその七つの封印を開く。」
6And I saw: and behold in the midst of the throne and of the four living creatures, and in the midst of the ancients, a Lamb standing as it were slain, having seven horns and seven eyes: which are the seven Spirits of God, sent forth into all the earth.
6私は、王座と四つの生き物の中央、また長老たちの中央に、一匹の小羊が立っているのを見た。屠られたかのような姿で、七つの角と七つの目を持っていた。その目は、全地に遣わされた神の七つの霊である。
7And he came and took the book out of the right hand of him that sat on the throne.
7小羊は進み出て、王座に座っておられる方の右手から巻物を受け取った。
8And when he had opened the book, the four living creatures, and the four and twenty ancients fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints:
8小羊が巻物を受け取ると、四つの生き物と二十四人の長老は小羊の前にひれ伏した。それぞれ竪琴と、香で満たされた金の鉢を持っていた。この香は聖徒たちの祈りである。
9And they sung a new canticle, saying: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to take the book, and to open the seals thereof; because thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God, in thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation.
9彼らは新しい歌を歌って言った。 「あなたは巻物を受け取り、 その封印を開くにふさわしい。 あなたは屠られ、 ご自分の血によって私たちを神のために買い取られた。 あらゆる部族、言語、民族、国民の中から。
10And hast made us to our God a kingdom and priests, and we shall reign on the earth.
10あなたは私たちを、私たちの神に仕える王たち、祭司たちとされた。 私たちは地上を治める。」
11And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels round about the throne, and the living creatures, and the ancients; and the number of them was thousands of thousands,
11また、私が見ると、王座と生き物たちと長老たちの周りにいる多くの御使いの声が聞こえた。その数は万の幾万倍、千の幾千倍もあり、
12Saying with a loud voice: The Lamb that was slain is worthy to receive power, and divinity, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and benediction.
12彼らは大声で言っていた。「屠られた小羊こそ、力、富、知恵、強さ、誉れ、栄光、賛美を受けるにふさわしい。」
13And every creature, which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them: I heard all saying: To him that sitteth on the throne, and to the Lamb, benediction, and honour, and glory, and power, for ever and ever.
13また、天と地と地の下と海にいるすべての造られたもの、そしてその中にあるすべてのものが、こう言うのを聞いた。「王座に座っておられる方と小羊に、賛美、誉れ、栄光、支配が永遠にあるように。アーメン。」
14And the four living creatures said: Amen. And the four and twenty ancients fell down on their faces, and adored him that liveth for ever and ever.
14四つの生き物は「アーメン」と言った。そして、長老たちはひれ伏して礼拝した。
