1Christ therefore having suffered in the flesh, be you also armed with the same thought: for he that hath suffered in the flesh, hath ceased from sins:
1Кад, дакле, Христос пострада за нас телом, и ви се том мисли наоружајте: јер који пострада телом, престаје од греха,
2That now he may live the rest of his time in the flesh, not after the desires of men, but according to the will of God.
2да остало време живота у телу не живи више жељама човечијим, него вољи Божијој.
3For the time past is sufficient to have fulfilled the will of the Gentiles, for them who have walked in riotousness, lusts, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and unlawful worshipping of idols.
3Јер је доста што смо протекло време живота провели по вољи незнабожачкој, живећи у нечистотама, у сластима, у пијењу и богомрским незнабоштвима.
4Wherein they think it strange, that you run not with them into the same confusion of riotousness, speaking evil of you.
4Зато се чуде што ви не трчите с њима у то исто неуредно живљење, и хуле на вас.
5Who shall render account to him, who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
5Они ће дати одговор Ономе који је готов да суди живима и мртвима.
6For, for this cause was the gospel preached also to the dead: that they might be judged indeed according to men, in the flesh; but may live according to God, in the Spirit.
6Зато се и мртвима проповеди јеванђеље, да приме суд по човеку телом, а по Богу да живе духом.
7But the end of all is at hand. Be prudent therefore, and watch in prayers.
7А свему се крај приближи. Будите дакле мудри и трезни у молитвама.
8But before all things have a constant mutual charity among yourselves: for charity covereth a multitude of sins.
8А пре свега имајте непрестану љубав међу собом; јер љубав покрива мноштво греха,
9Using hospitality one towards another, without murmuring,
9будите гостољубиви међу собом без мрмљања;
10As every man hath received grace, ministering the same one to another: as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
10и служите се међу собом, сваки даром који је примио, као добри пристави различне благодати Божије.
11If any man speak, let him speak, as the words of God. If any man minister, let him do it, as of the power, which God administereth: that in all things God may be honoured through Jesus Christ: to whom is glory and empire for ever and ever. Amen.
11Ако ко говори, нека говори као речи Божије; ако ко служи нека служи као по моћи коју Бог даје: да се у свачему слави Бог кроз Исуса Христа, коме је слава и држава ва век века. Амин.
12Dearly beloved, think not strange the burning heat which is to try you, as if some new thing happened to you;
12Љубазни! Не чудите се врућини која вам се догађа за кушање ваше, као да вам се шта ново догађа;
13But if you partake of the sufferings of Christ, rejoice that when his glory shall be revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.
13него се радујте што страдате с Христом, да бисте, и кад се јави слава Његова, имали радост и весеље.
14If you be reproached for the name of Christ, you shall be blessed: for that which is of the honour, glory, and power of God, and that which is his Spirit, resteth upon you.
14Ако бивате укорени за име Христово, благо вама! Јер Дух славе и Бога почива на вама: они дакле хуле на Њ, а ви Га прослављате.
15But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or a thief, or a railer, or a coveter of other men’s things.
15Само да не пострада који од вас као крвник, или као лупеж, или као злочинац, или као онај који се меша у туђе послове;
16But if as a Christian, let him not be ashamed, but let him glorify God in that name.
16а ако ли као хришћанин, нека се не стиди, већ нека слави Бога у овом догађају.
17For the time is, that judgment should begin at the house of God. And if first at us, what shall be the end of them that believe not the gospel of God?
17Јер је време да се почне суд од куће Божије; ако ли се најпре од вас почне, какав ће бити последак онима што се противе Божијем јеванђељу?
18And if the just man shall scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?
18И кад се праведник једва спасе, безбожник и грешник где ће се јавити?
19Wherefore let them also that suffer according to the will of God, commend their souls in good deeds to the faithful Creator.
19Зато и који страдају по вољи Божијој нека Му као верном Творцу предаду душе своје у добрим делима.
