1非利士 人將上帝的 約 櫃從 以便以謝 抬到 亞實突 。
1And the Philistines took the ark of God, and carried it from the Stone of help into Azotus.
2非利士 人將上帝的 約 櫃抬進 大袞 廟，放在 大袞 的旁邊。
2And the Philistines took the ark of God, and brought it into the temple of Dagon, and set it by Dagon.
3次日清早， 亞實突 人起來，見 大袞 仆倒在耶和華的 約 櫃前，臉伏於地，就把 大袞 仍立在原處。
3And when the Azotians arose early the next day, behold Dagon lay upon his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord: and they took Dagon, and set him again in his place.
4又次日清早起來，見 大袞 仆倒在耶和華的 約 櫃前，臉伏於地，並且 大袞 的頭和兩手都在門檻上折斷，只剩下 大袞 的 殘體 。（
4And the next day again, when they rose in the morning, they found Dagon lying upon his face on the earth before the ark of the Lord: and the head of Dagon, and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold:
5因此， 大袞 的祭司和一切進 亞實突 、 大袞 廟的人都不踏 大袞 廟的門檻，直到今日。）
5And only the stump of Dagon remained in its place. For this cause neither the priests of Dagon, nor any that go into the temple tread on the threshold of Dagon in Azotus unto this day.
6耶和華的手重重加在 亞實突 人身上，敗壞他們，使他們生痔瘡。 亞實突 和 亞實突 的四境都是如此。
6And the hand of the Lord was heavy upon the Azotians, and he destroyed them, and afflicted Azotus and the coasts thereof with emerods. And in the villages and fields in the midst of that country, there came forth a multitude of mice, and there was the confusion of a great mortality in the city.
7亞實突 人見這光景，就說：「 以色列 上帝的 約 櫃不可留在我們這裏，因為他的手重重加在我們和我們神 大袞 的身上」；
7And the men of Azotus seeing this kind of plague, said: The ark of the God of Israel shall not stay with us: for his hand is heavy upon us, and upon Dagon our god.
8就打發人去請 非利士 的眾首領來聚集，問他們說：「我們向 以色列 上帝的 約 櫃應當怎樣行呢？」他們回答說：「可以將 以色列 上帝的 約 櫃運到 迦特 去。」於是將 以色列 上帝的 約 櫃運到那裏去。
8And sending, they gathered together all the lords of the Philistines to them, and said: What shall we do with the ark of the God of Israel? And the Gethrites answered: Let the ark of the God of Israel be carried about. And they carried the ark of the God of Israel about.
9運到之後，耶和華的手攻擊那城，使那城的人大大驚慌，無論大小都生痔瘡。
9And while they were carrying it about, the band of the Lord came upon every city with an exceeding great slaughter: and he smote the men of every city, both small and great, and they had emerods in their secret parts. And the Gethrites consulted together, and made themselves seats of skins.
10他們就把上帝的 約 櫃送到 以革倫 。上帝的 約 櫃到了， 以革倫 人就喊嚷起來說：「他們將 以色列 上帝的 約 櫃運到我們這裏，要害我們和我們的眾民！」
10Therefore they sent the ark of God into Accaron. And when the ark of God was come into Accaron, the Accaronites cried out, saying: They have brought the ark of the God of Israel to us, to kill us and our people.
11於是打發人去請 非利士 的眾首領來，說：「願你們將 以色列 上帝的 約 櫃送回原處，免得害了我們和我們的眾民！」原來上帝的手重重攻擊那城，城中的人有因驚慌而死的；
11They sent therefore and gathered together all the lords of the Philistines: and they said: Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it return into its own place, and not kill us and our people.
12未曾死的人都生了痔瘡。合城呼號，聲音上達於天。
12For there was the fear of death in every city, and the hand of God was exceeding heavy. The men also that did not die, were afflicted with the emerods: and the cry of every city went up to heaven.
