1我這作長老、作基督受苦的見證、同享後來所要顯現之榮耀的，勸你們中間與我同作長老的人：
1As a fellow elder, a witness of Christ’s sufferings, and a partaker of the glory to be revealed, I appeal to the elders among you:
2務要牧養在你們中間上帝的群羊，按着上帝 旨意 照管他們；不是出於勉強，乃是出於甘心；也不是因為貪財，乃是出於樂意；
2Be shepherds of God’s flock that is among you, watching over them not out of compulsion, but because it is God’s will; not out of greed, but out of eagerness;
3也不是轄制所託付你們的，乃是作群羊的榜樣。
3not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.
4到了牧長顯現的時候，你們必得那永不衰殘的榮耀冠冕。
4And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.
5你們年幼的，也要順服年長的。就是你們眾人也都要以謙卑束腰，彼此順服；因為 上帝阻擋驕傲的人， 賜恩給謙卑的人。
5Young men, in the same way, submit yourselves to your elders. And all of you, clothe yourselves with humility toward one another, because, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”
6所以，你們要自卑，服在上帝大能的手下，到了時候，他必叫你們升高。
6Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, so that in due time He may exalt you.
7你們要將一切的憂慮卸給上帝，因為他顧念你們。
7Cast all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.
8務要謹守，警醒。 因為 你們的仇敵魔鬼，如同吼叫的獅子，遍地遊行，尋找可吞吃的人。
8Be sober-minded and alert. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.
9你們要用堅固的信心抵擋他，因為知道你們在世上的眾弟兄也是經歷這樣的苦難。
9Resist him, standing firm in your faith and in the knowledge that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
10那賜諸般恩典的上帝曾在基督裏召你們，得享他永遠的榮耀，等你們暫受苦難之後，必要親自成全你們，堅固你們，賜力量給你們。
10And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to His eternal glory in Christ, will Himself restore you, secure you, strengthen you, and establish you.
11願權能歸給他，直到永永遠遠。阿們！
11To Him be the power forever and ever. Amen.
12我略略地寫了這信，託我所看為忠心的兄弟 西拉 轉交你們，勸勉你們，又證明這恩是上帝的真恩。你們務要在這恩上站立得住。
12Through Silvanus, whom I regard as a faithful brother, I have written to you briefly, encouraging you and testifying that this is the true grace of God. Stand firm in it.
13在 巴比倫 與你們同蒙揀選的教會問你們安。我兒子 馬可 也問你們安。
13The church in Babylon, chosen together with you, sends you greetings, as does my son Mark.
14你們要用愛心彼此親嘴問安。願平安歸與你們凡在基督裏的人！
14Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you who are in Christ.
