1約書亞 死後， 以色列 人求問耶和華說：「我們中間誰當首先上去攻擊 迦南 人，與他們爭戰？」
1After the death of Joshua, the Israelites inquired of the LORD, “Who will be the first to go up and fight for us against the Canaanites?”
2耶和華說：「 猶大 當先上去，我已將那地交在他手中。」
2“Judah shall go up,” answered the LORD. “Indeed, I have delivered the land into their hands.”
3猶大 對他哥哥 西緬 說：「請你同我到拈鬮所得之地去，好與 迦南 人爭戰；以後我也同你到你拈鬮所得之地去。」於是 西緬 與他同去。
3Then the men of Judah said to their brothers the Simeonites, “Come up with us to our allotted territory, and let us fight against the Canaanites. And we likewise will go with you to your territory.” So the Simeonites went with them.
4猶大 就上去；耶和華將 迦南 人和 比利洗 人交在他們手中。他們在 比色 擊殺了一萬人，
4When Judah attacked, the LORD delivered the Canaanites and Perizzites into their hands, and they struck down ten thousand men at Bezek.
5又在那裏遇見 亞多尼‧比色 ，與他爭戰，殺敗 迦南 人和 比利洗 人。
5And there they found Adoni-bezek and fought against him, striking down the Canaanites and Perizzites.
6亞多尼‧比色 逃跑；他們追趕，拿住他，砍斷他手腳的大拇指。
6As Adoni-bezek fled, they pursued him, seized him, and cut off his thumbs and big toes.
7亞多尼‧比色 說：「從前有七十個王，手腳的大拇指都被 我 砍斷，在我桌子底下拾取 零碎食物 。現在上帝按着我所行的報應我了。」於是他們將 亞多尼‧比色 帶到 耶路撒冷 ，他就死在那裏。
7Then Adoni-bezek said, “Seventy kings with their thumbs and big toes cut off have gathered the scraps under my table. As I have done to them, so God has repaid me.” And they brought him to Jerusalem, where he died.
8猶大 人攻打 耶路撒冷 ，將城攻取，用刀殺了城內的人，並且放火燒城。
8Then the men of Judah fought against Jerusalem and captured it. They put the city to the sword and set it on fire.
9後來 猶大 人下去，與住山地、南地，和高原的 迦南 人爭戰。
9Afterward, the men of Judah marched down to fight against the Canaanites living in the hill country, in the Negev, and in the foothills.
10猶大 人去攻擊住 希伯崙 的 迦南 人，殺了 示篩 、 亞希幔 、 撻買 。 希伯崙 從前名叫 基列‧亞巴 。
10Judah also marched against the Canaanites who were living in Hebron (formerly known as Kiriath-arba), and they struck down Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai.
11他們從那裏去攻擊 底壁 的居民； 底壁 從前名叫 基列‧西弗 。
11From there they marched against the inhabitants of Debir (formerly known as Kiriath-sepher).
12迦勒 說：「誰能攻打 基列‧西弗 ，將城奪取，我就把我女兒 押撒 給他為妻。」
12And Caleb said, “To the man who strikes down Kiriath-sepher and captures it, I will give my daughter Acsah in marriage.”
13迦勒 兄弟 基納斯 的兒子 俄陀聶 奪取了那城， 迦勒 就把女兒 押撒 給他為妻。
13So Othniel son of Caleb’s younger brother Kenaz captured the city, and Caleb gave his daughter Acsah to him in marriage.
14押撒 過門的時候，勸丈夫向她父親求一塊田。 押撒 一下驢， 迦勒 問她說：「你要甚麼？」
14One day Acsah came to Othniel and urged him to ask her father for a field. When she got off her donkey, Caleb asked her, “What do you desire?”
15她說：「求你賜福給我，你既將我安置在南地，求你也給我水泉。」 迦勒 就把上泉下泉賜給她。
15“Give me a blessing,” she answered. “Since you have given me land in the Negev, give me springs of water as well.” So Caleb gave her both the upper and lower springs.
16摩西 的內兄是 基尼 人，他的子孫與 猶大 人一同離了棕樹城，往 亞拉得 以南的 猶大 曠野去，就住在民中。
16Now the descendants of Moses’ father-in-law, the Kenite, went up with the men of Judah from the City of Palms to the Wilderness of Judah in the Negev near Arad. They went to live among the people.
17猶大 和他哥哥 西緬 同去，擊殺了住 洗法 的 迦南 人，將城盡行毀滅，那城的名便叫 何珥瑪 。
17Then the men of Judah went with their brothers the Simeonites, attacked the Canaanites living in Zephath, and devoted the city to destruction. So it was called Hormah.
18猶大 又取了 迦薩 和 迦薩 的四境， 亞實基倫 和 亞實基倫 的四境， 以革倫 和 以革倫 的四境。
18And Judah also captured Gaza, Ashkelon, and Ekron—each with its territory.
19耶和華與 猶大 同在， 猶大 就趕出山地的 居民 ，只是不能趕出平原的居民，因為他們有鐵車。
19The LORD was with Judah, and they took possession of the hill country; but they could not drive out the inhabitants of the plains because they had chariots of iron.
20以色列 人照 摩西 所說的，將 希伯崙 給了 迦勒 ； 迦勒 就從那裏趕出 亞衲 族的三個族長。
20Just as Moses had promised, Judah gave Hebron to Caleb, who drove out the descendants of the three sons of Anak.
21便雅憫 人沒有趕出住 耶路撒冷 的 耶布斯 人。 耶布斯 人仍在 耶路撒冷 與 便雅憫 人同住，直到今日。
21The Benjamites, however, failed to drive out the Jebusites living in Jerusalem. So to this day the Jebusites live there among the Benjamites.
22約瑟 家也上去攻打 伯特利 ；耶和華與他們同在。
22The house of Joseph also attacked Bethel, and the LORD was with them.
23約瑟 家打發人去窺探 伯特利 （那城起先名叫 路斯 ）。
23They sent spies to Bethel (formerly known as Luz),
24窺探的人看見一個人從城裏出來，就對他說：「求你將進城的路指示我們，我們必恩待你。」
24and when the spies saw a man coming out of the city, they said to him, “Please show us how to get into the city, and we will treat you kindly.”
25那人將進城的路指示他們，他們就用刀擊殺了城中的居民，但將那人和他全家放去。
25So the man showed them the entrance to the city, and they put the city to the sword but released that man and all his family.
26那人往 赫 人之地去，築了一座城，起名叫 路斯 。那城到如今還叫這名。
26And the man went to the land of the Hittites, built a city, and called it Luz, which is its name to this day.
27瑪拿西 沒有趕出 伯‧善 和屬 伯‧善 鄉村的 居民 ， 他納 和屬 他納 鄉村的 居民 ， 多珥 和屬 多珥 鄉村的居民， 以伯蓮 和屬 以伯蓮 鄉村的居民， 米吉多 和屬 米吉多 鄉村的居民； 迦南 人卻執意住在那些地方。
27At that time Manasseh failed to drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shean, Taanach, Dor, Ibleam, Megiddo, and their villages; for the Canaanites were determined to dwell in that land.
28及至 以色列 強盛了，就使 迦南 人做苦工，沒有把他們全然趕出。
28When Israel became stronger, they pressed the Canaanites into forced labor, but they never drove them out completely.
29以法蓮 沒有趕出住 基色 的 迦南 人。於是 迦南 人仍住在 基色 ，在 以法蓮 中間。
29Ephraim also failed to drive out the Canaanites living in Gezer; so the Canaanites continued to dwell among them in Gezer.
30西布倫 沒有趕出 基倫 的居民和 拿哈拉 的居民。於是 迦南 人仍住在 西布倫 中間，成了服苦的人。
30Zebulun failed to drive out the inhabitants of Kitron and Nahalol; so the Canaanites lived among them and served as forced laborers.
31亞設 沒有趕出 亞柯 和 西頓 的居民， 亞黑拉 和 亞革悉 的居民， 黑巴 、 亞弗革 與 利合 的居民。
31Asher failed to drive out the inhabitants of Acco, Sidon, Ahlab, Achzib, Helbah, Aphik, and Rehob.
32於是， 亞設 因為沒有趕出那地的 迦南 人，就住在他們中間。
32So the Asherites lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land, because they did not drive them out.
33拿弗他利 沒有趕出 伯‧示麥 和 伯‧亞納 的居民，於是 拿弗他利 就住在那地的 迦南 人中間；然而 伯‧示麥 和 伯‧亞納 的居民成了服苦的人。
33Naphtali failed to drive out the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath. So the Naphtalites also lived among the Canaanite inhabitants of the land, but the inhabitants of Beth-shemesh and Beth-anath served them as forced laborers.
34亞摩利 人強逼 但 人住在山地，不容他們下到平原；
34The Amorites forced the Danites into the hill country and did not allow them to come down into the plain.
35亞摩利 人卻執意住在 希烈山 和 亞雅崙 並 沙賓 。然而 約瑟 家勝了他們，使他們成了服苦的人。
35And the Amorites were determined to dwell in Mount Heres, Aijalon, and Shaalbim. But when the house of Joseph grew in strength, they pressed the Amorites into forced labor.
36亞摩利 人的境界，是從 亞克拉濱 坡，從 西拉 而上。
36And the border of the Amorites extended from the Ascent of Akrabbim to Sela and beyond.
