1大流士 王第二年六月初一日，耶和華的話藉先知 哈該 向 猶大 省長 撒拉鐵 的兒子 所羅巴伯 和 約撒答 的兒子大祭司 約書亞 說：
1In the second year of the reign of Darius, on the first day of the sixth month, the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and to Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, stating
2萬軍之耶和華如此說：「這百姓說，建造耶和華殿的時候尚未來到。」
2that this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “These people say, ‘The time has not yet come to rebuild the house of the LORD.’”
3那時耶和華的話臨到先知 哈該 說：
3Then the word of the LORD came through Haggai the prophet, saying:
4「這殿仍然荒涼，你們自己還住天花板的房屋嗎？
4“Is it a time for you yourselves to live in your paneled houses, while this house lies in ruins?”
5現在萬軍之耶和華如此說：你們要省察自己的行為。
5Now this is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
6你們撒的種多，收的卻少；你們吃，卻不得飽；喝，卻不得足；穿衣服，卻不得暖；得工錢的，將工錢 裝 在破漏的囊中。」
6You have planted much but harvested little. You eat but never have enough. You drink but never have your fill. You put on clothes but never get warm. You earn wages to put into a bag pierced through.”
7萬軍之耶和華如此說：「你們要省察自己的行為。
7This is what the LORD of Hosts says: “Consider carefully your ways.
8你們要上山取木料，建造這殿，我就因此喜樂，且得榮耀。這是耶和華說的。
8Go up into the hills, bring down lumber, and build the house, so that I may take pleasure in it and be glorified, says the LORD.
9你們盼望多得，所得的卻少；你們收到家中，我就吹去。這是為甚麼呢？因為我的殿荒涼，你們各人卻顧自己的房屋。這是萬軍之耶和華說的。
9You expected much, but behold, it amounted to little. And what you brought home, I blew away. Why? declares the LORD of Hosts. Because My house still lies in ruins, while each of you is busy with his own house.
10所以為你們的緣故，天就不降甘露，地也不出土產。
10Therefore, on account of you the heavens have withheld their dew and the earth has withheld its crops.
11我命乾旱臨到地土、山岡、五穀、新酒，和油，並地上的出產、人民、牲畜，以及人手一切勞碌得來的。」
11I have summoned a drought on the fields and on the mountains, on the grain, new wine, and oil, and on whatever the ground yields, on man and beast, and on all the labor of your hands.”
12那時， 撒拉鐵 的兒子 所羅巴伯 和 約撒答 的兒子大祭司 約書亞 ，並剩下的百姓，都聽從耶和華－他們上帝的話和先知 哈該 奉耶和華－他們上帝差來所說的話；百姓也在耶和華面前存敬畏的心。
12Then Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel and Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as all the remnant of the people, obeyed the voice of the LORD their God and the words of the prophet Haggai, because the LORD their God had sent him. So the people feared the LORD.
13耶和華的使者 哈該 奉耶和華差遣對百姓說：「耶和華說：我與你們同在。」
13Haggai, the messenger of the LORD, delivered the message of the LORD to the people: “I am with you,” declares the LORD.
14耶和華激動 猶大 省長 撒拉鐵 的兒子 所羅巴伯 和 約撒答 的兒子大祭司 約書亞 ，並剩下之百姓的心，他們就來為萬軍之耶和華－他們上帝的殿做工。
14So the LORD stirred the spirit of Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, and the spirit of Joshua son of Jehozadak, the high priest, as well as the spirit of all the remnant of the people. And they came and began the work on the house of the LORD of Hosts, their God,
15這是在 大流士 王第二年六月二十四日。
15on the twenty-fourth day of the sixth month, in the second year of King Darius.
