1便雅憫 地 亞拿突 城的祭司中， 希勒家 的兒子 耶利米 的話記在下面。
1These are the words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests in Anathoth in the territory of Benjamin.
2猶大 王 亞們 的兒子 約西亞 在位十三年，耶和華的話臨到 耶利米 。
2The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah in the thirteenth year of the reign of Josiah son of Amon king of Judah,
3從 猶大 王 約西亞 的兒子 約雅敬 在位的時候，直到 猶大 王 約西亞 的兒子 西底家 在位的末年，就是十一年五月間 耶路撒冷 人被擄的時候，耶和華的話也常臨到 耶利米 。
3and through the days of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah, until the fifth month of the eleventh year of Zedekiah son of Josiah king of Judah, when the people of Jerusalem went into exile.
4耶利米 說，耶和華的話臨到我說：
4The word of the LORD came to me, saying:
5我未將你造在腹中，我已曉得你； 你未出母胎，我已分別你為聖； 我已派你作列國的先知。
5“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I set you apart and appointed you as a prophet to the nations.”
6我就說：主耶和華啊，我不知怎樣說，因為我是年幼的。
6“Ah, Lord GOD,” I said, “I surely do not know how to speak, for I am only a child!”
7耶和華對我說： 你不要說我是年幼的， 因為我差遣你到誰那裏去，你都要去； 我吩咐你說甚麼話，你都要說。
7But the LORD told me: “Do not say, ‘I am only a child.’ For to everyone I send you, you must go, and all that I command you, you must speak.
8你不要懼怕他們， 因為我與你同在， 要拯救你。 這是耶和華說的。
8Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.
9於是耶和華伸手按我的口，對我說： 我已將當說的話傳給你。
9Then the LORD reached out His hand, touched my mouth, and said to me: “Behold, I have put My words in your mouth.
10看哪，我今日立你在列邦列國之上， 為要施行拔出、拆毀、毀壞、傾覆， 又要建立、栽植。
10See, I have appointed you today over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and plant.”
11耶和華的話又臨到我說：「 耶利米 ，你看見甚麼？」我說：「我看見一根杏樹枝。」
11And the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “Jeremiah, what do you see?” “I see a branch of an almond tree,” I replied.
12耶和華對我說：「你看得不錯；因為我留意保守我的話，使得成就。」
12“You have observed correctly,” said the LORD, “for I am watching over My word to accomplish it.”
13耶和華的話第二次臨到我說：「你看見甚麼？」我說：「我看見一個燒開的鍋，從北而傾。」
13Again the word of the LORD came to me, asking, “What do you see?” “I see a boiling pot,” I replied, “and it is tilting toward us from the north.”
14耶和華對我說：「必有災禍從北方發出，臨到這地的一切居民。」
14Then the LORD said to me, “Disaster from the north will be poured out on all who live in the land.
15耶和華說：「看哪，我要召北方列國的眾族；他們要來，各安座位在 耶路撒冷 的城門口，周圍攻擊城牆，又要攻擊 猶大 的一切城邑。
15For I am about to summon all the clans and kingdoms of the north,” declares the LORD. “Their kings will come and set up their thrones at the entrance of the gates of Jerusalem. They will attack all her surrounding walls and all the other cities of Judah.
16至於這民的一切惡，就是離棄我、向別神燒香、跪拜自己手所造的，我要發出我的判語，攻擊他們。
16I will pronounce My judgments against them for all their wickedness, because they have forsaken Me to burn incense to other gods and to worship the works of their own hands.
17所以你當束腰，起來將我所吩咐你的一切話告訴他們；不要因他們驚惶，免得我使你在他們面前驚惶。
17Get yourself ready. Stand up and tell them everything that I command you. Do not be intimidated by them, or I will terrify you before them.
18看哪，我今日使你成為堅城、鐵柱、銅牆，與全地和 猶大 的君王、首領、祭司，並地上的眾民反對。
18Now behold, this day I have made you like a fortified city, an iron pillar, and bronze walls against the whole land—against the kings of Judah, its officials, its priests, and the people of the land.
19他們要攻擊你，卻不能勝你；因為我與你同在，要拯救你。這是耶和華說的。」
19They will fight against you but will never overcome you, since I am with you to deliver you,” declares the LORD.
