1耶利米 还囚在护卫兵的院内，耶和华的话第二次临到他说：
1And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying:
2「成就的是耶和华，造作、为要建立的也是耶和华；耶和华是他的名。他如此说：
2Thus saith the Lord, who will do, and will form it, and prepare it, the Lord is his name.
3你求告我，我就应允你，并将你所不知道、又大又难的事指示你。
3Cry to me and I will hear thee: and I will shew thee great things, and sure things which thou knowest not.
4论到这城中的房屋和 犹大 王的宫室，就是拆毁为挡 敌人 高垒和刀剑的，耶和华— 以色列 的 神如此说：
4For thus saith the Lord the God of Israel to the houses of this city, and to the houses of the king of Juda, which rue destroyed, and to the bulwarks, and to the sword.
5人要与 迦勒底 人争战，正是拿死尸充满这房屋，就是我在怒气和忿怒中所杀的人，因他们的一切恶，我就掩面不顾这城。
5Of them that come to fight with the Chaldeans, and to fill them with the dead bodies of the men whom I have slain in my wrath, and in my indignation, hiding my face from this city because of all their wickedness.
6看哪，我要使这城得以痊愈安舒，使城中的人得医治，又将丰盛的平安和诚实显明与他们。
6Behold I will close their wounds and give them health, and I will cure them: and I will reveal to them the prayer of peace and truth.
7我也要使 犹大 被掳的和 以色列 被掳的归回，并建立他们和起初一样。
7And I will bring back the captivity of Juda, and the captivity of Jerusalem: and I will build them as from the beginning.
8我要除净他们的一切罪，就是向我所犯的罪；又要赦免他们的一切罪，就是干犯我、违背我的罪。
8And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me: and I will forgive all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned against me, and despised me.
9这城要在地上万国人面前使我得颂赞，得荣耀，名为可喜可乐之城。万国人因听见我向这城所赐的福乐、所施的恩惠平安，就惧怕战兢。」
9And it shall be to me a name, and a joy, and a praise, and a gladness before all the nations of the earth, that shall hear of all the good things which I will do to them: and they shall fear and be troubled for all the good things, and for all the peace that I will make for them.
10耶和华如此说：「你们论这地方，说是荒废无人民无牲畜之地，但在这荒凉无人民无牲畜的 犹大 城邑和 耶路撒冷 的街上，
10Thus saith the Lord: There shall be heard again in this place (which you say is desolate, because there is neither man nor beast: in the cities of Juda, and without Jerusalem, which are desolate without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast)
11必再听见有欢喜和快乐的声音、新郎和新妇的声音，并听见有人说： 要称谢万军之耶和华， 因耶和华本为善； 他的慈爱永远 长存 ！ 又有奉感谢 祭 到耶和华殿中之人的声音；因为我必使这地被掳的人归回，和起初一样。这是耶和华说的。」
11The voice of joy and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say: Give ye glory to the Lord of hosts, for the Lord is good, for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring their vows into the house of the Lord: for I will bring back the captivity of the land as at the first, saith the Lord.
12万军之耶和华如此说：「在这荒废无人民无牲畜之地，并其中所有的城邑，必再有牧人的住处；他们要使羊群躺卧在那里。
12Thus saith the Lord of hosts: There shall be again in this place that is desolate without man, and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.
13在山地的城邑、高原的城邑、南地的城邑、 便雅悯 地、 耶路撒冷 四围的各处，和 犹大 的城邑必再有羊群从数点的人手下经过。这是耶和华说的。」
13And in the cities on the mountains, and in the cities of the plains, and in the cities that are towards the south: and in the land of Benjamin, and round about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Juda shall the flocks pass again under the hand of him that numbereth them, saith the Lord.
14耶和华说：「日子将到，我应许 以色列 家和 犹大 家的恩言必然成就。
14Behold the days come, saith the Lord, that I will perform the good word that I have spoken to the house of Israel, and to the house of Juda.
15当那日子，那时候，我必使 大卫 公义的苗裔长起来；他必在地上施行公平和公义。
15In those days, and at that time, I will make the bud of justice to spring forth unto David, and he shall do judgment and justice in the earth.
16在那日子 犹大 必得救， 耶路撒冷 必安然居住，他 的名 必称为『耶和华—我们的义』。
16In those days shall Juda be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell securely: and this is the name that they shall call him, The Lord our just one.
17「因为耶和华如此说： 大卫 必永不断人坐在 以色列 家的宝座上；
17For thus saith the Lord: There shall not be cut off from David a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel.
18祭司、 利未 人在我面前也不断人献燔祭、烧素祭，时常办理献祭的事。」
18Neither shall there be cut off from the priests and Levites a man before my face to offer holocausts, and to burn sacrifices, and to kill victims continually:
19耶和华的话临到 耶利米 说：
19And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias, saying:
20「耶和华如此说：你们若能废弃我所立白日黑夜的约，使白日黑夜不按时轮转，
20Thus saith the Lord: If my covenant with the day can be made void, and my covenant with the night, that there should not be day and night in their season:
21就能废弃我与我仆人 大卫 所立的约，使他没有儿子在他的宝座上为王，并能废弃我与事奉我的祭司、 利未 人所立的约。
21Also my covenant with David my servant may be made void, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne, and with the Levites and priests my ministers.
22天上的万象不能数算，海边的尘沙也不能斗量；我必照样使我仆人 大卫 的后裔和事奉我的 利未 人多起来。」
22As the stars of heaven cannot be numbered, nor the sand of the sea be measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites my ministers.
23耶和华的话临到 耶利米 说：
23And the word of the Lord came to Jeremias, saying:
24「你没有揣摩这百姓的话吗？他们说：『耶和华所拣选的二族，他已经弃绝了。』他们这样藐视我的百姓，以为不再成国。
24Hast thou not seen what this people hath spoken, saying: The two families which the Lord had chosen, are cast off: and they have despised my people, so that it is no more a nation before them?
25耶和华如此说：若是我立白日黑夜的约不能 存住 ，若是我未曾安排天地的定例，
25Thus saith the Lord: If I have not set my covenant between day and night, and laws to heaven and earth:
26我就弃绝 雅各 的后裔和我仆人 大卫 的后裔，不使 大卫 的后裔治理 亚伯拉罕 、 以撒 、 雅各 的后裔；因为我必使他们被掳的人归回，也必怜悯他们。」
26Surely I will also cast; off the seed of Jacob, and of David my servant, so as not to take any of his seed to be rulers of the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will bring back their captivity, and will have mercy on them.
