1犹大 王 约西亚 的儿子 约雅敬 登基的时候，有这话从耶和华临到 耶利米 说：
1In the beginning of the reign of Joakim the son of Josias king of Juda, came this word from the Lord, saying:
2「耶和华如此说：你站在耶和华殿的院内，对 犹大 众城邑的人，就是到耶和华殿来礼拜的，说我所吩咐你的一切话，一字不可删减。
2Thus saith the Lord: Stand in the court of the house of the Lord, and speak to all the cities of Juda, out of which they come, to adore in the house of the Lord, all the words which I have commanded thee to to speak unto them: leave not out one word.
3或者他们肯听从，各人回头离开恶道，使我后悔不将我因他们所行的恶，想要施行的灾祸降与他们。
3If so be they will hearken and be converted every one from his evil way; that I may repent me of the evil that I think to do unto them for the wickedness of their doings.
4你要对他们说，耶和华如此说：『你们若不听从我，不遵行我设立在你们面前的律法，
4And thou shalt say to them: Thus saith the Lord: If you will not hearken to me to walk in my law, which I have given to you:
5不听我从早起来差遣到你们那里去我仆人众先知的话（你们还是没有听从），
5To give ear to the words of my servants the prophets, whom I sent to you rising up early: and sending, and you have not hearkened:
6我就必使这殿如 示罗 ，使这城为地上万国所咒诅的。』」
6I will make this house like Silo: and I will make this city a curse to all the nations of the earth.
7耶利米 在耶和华殿中说的这些话，祭司、先知与众民都听见了。
7And the priests, and the prophets, and all the people heard Jeremias speaking these words in the house of the Lord.
8耶利米 说完了耶和华所吩咐他对众人说的一切话，祭司、先知与众民都来抓住他，说：「你必要死！
8And when Jeremias made an end of speaking all that the Lord had commanded him to speak to all the people, the priests, and the prophets, and all the people laid hold on him, saying: Let him be put to death.
9你为何托耶和华的名预言，说这殿必如 示罗 ，这城必变为荒场无人居住呢？」于是众民都在耶和华的殿中聚集到 耶利米 那里。
9Why hath he prophesied in the name of the Lord, saying: This house shall be like Silo; and this city shall be made desolate, without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered together against Jeremias in the house of the Lord.
10犹大 的首领听见这事，就从王宫上到耶和华的殿，坐在耶和华 殿 的新门口。
10And the princes of Juda heard these words: and they went up from the king’s house into the house of the Lord, and sat in the entry of the new gate of the house of the Lord.
11祭司、先知对首领和众民说：「这人是该死的；因为他说预言攻击这城，正如你们亲耳所听见的。」
11And the priests and the prophets spoke to the princes, and to all the people, saying: The judgement of death is for this man: because he hath prophesied against this city, as you have heard with your ears.
12耶利米 就对众首领和众民说：「耶和华差遣我预言，攻击这殿和这城，说你们所听见的这一切话。
12Then Jeremias spoke to all the princes, and to all the people, saying: The Lord sent me to prophesy concerning this house, and concerning this city all the words you have heard.
13现在要改正你们的行动作为，听从耶和华—你们 神的话，他就必后悔，不将所说的灾祸降与你们。
13Now therefore amend your ways, and your doings, and hearken to the voice of the Lord your God: and the Lord will repent of the evil that he hath spoken against you.
14至于我，我在你们手中，你们眼看何为善，何为正，就那样待我吧！
14But as for me, behold I am in your hands: do with me what is good and right in your eyes:
15但你们要确实地知道，若把我治死，就使无辜人的血归到你们和这城，并其中的居民了；因为耶和华实在差遣我到你们这里来，将这一切话传与你们耳中。」
15But know ye, and understand, that if you put me to death, you will shed innocent blood against your own selves, and against this city, and the inhabitants thereof. For in truth the Lord sent me to you, to speak all these words in your hearing.
16首领和众民就对祭司、先知说：「这人是不该死的，因为他是奉耶和华—我们 神的名向我们说话。」
16Then the princes, and all the people said to the priests, and to the prophets: There is no judgement of death for this man: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.
17国中的长老就有几个人起来，对聚会的众民说：
17And some of the ancients of the land rose up: and they spoke to all the assembly of the people, saying:
18「当 犹大 王 希西家 的日子，有 摩利沙 人 弥迦 对 犹大 众人预言说： 万军之耶和华如此说： 锡安 必被耕种像一块田； 耶路撒冷 必变为乱堆； 这殿的山必像丛林的高处。
18Micheas of Morasthi was a prophet in the days of Ezechias king of Juda, and he spoke to all the people of Juda, saying: Thus saith the Lord of hosts: Sion shall be ploughed like a field, and Jerusalem shall be a heap of stones: and the mountain of the house the high places of woods.
19犹大 王 希西家 和 犹大 众人岂是把他治死呢？ 希西家 岂不是敬畏耶和华、恳求他的恩吗？耶和华就后悔，不把自己所说的灾祸降与他们。 若治死这人 ，我们就作了大恶，自害己命。」 （
19Did Ezechias king of Juda, and all Juda, condemn him to death? did they not fear the Lord, and beseech the face of the Lord: and the Lord repented of the evil that they had spoken against them? therefore we are doing a great evil against our souls.
20又有一个人奉耶和华的名说预言，是 基列·耶琳 人 示玛雅 的儿子 乌利亚 ，他照 耶利米 的一切话说预言，攻击这城和这地。
20There was also a man that prophesied in the name of the Lord, Urias the son of Semei of Cariathiarim: and he prophesied against this city, and against this land, according to all the words of Jeremias.
21约雅敬 王和他众勇士、众首领听见了 乌利亚 的话，王就想要把他治死。 乌利亚 听见就惧怕，逃往 埃及 去了。
21And Joakim, and all his men in power, and his princes heard these words: and the king sought to put him to death. And Urias heard it, and was afraid, and fled and went into Egypt.
22约雅敬 王便打发 亚革波 的儿子 以利拿单 ，带领几个人往 埃及 去。
22And king Joakim sent men into Egypt, Elnathan the son of Achobor, and men with him into Egypt.
23他们就从 埃及 将 乌利亚 带出来，送到 约雅敬 王那里；王用刀杀了他，把他的尸首抛在平民的坟地中。）
23And they brought Urias out of Egypt: and brought him to king Joakim, and he slew him with the sword: and he cast his dead body into the graves of the common people.
24然而， 沙番 的儿子 亚希甘 保护 耶利米 ，不交在百姓的手中治死他。
24So the hand of Ahicam the son of Saphan was with Jeremias, that he should not be delivered into the hands of the people, to put him to death.
