1Then Eliphaz the Temanite replied:
1提幔 人 以利法 回答说：
2“Does a wise man answer with empty counsel or fill his belly with the hot east wind?
2智慧人岂可用虚空的知识回答， 用东风充满肚腹呢？
3Should he argue with useless words or speeches that serve no purpose?
3他岂可用无益的话 和无济于事的言语理论呢？
4But you even undermine the fear of God and hinder meditation before Him.
4你是废弃敬畏的意， 在 神面前阻止敬虔的心。
5For your iniquity instructs your mouth, and you choose the language of the crafty.
5你的罪孽指教你的口； 你选用诡诈人的舌头。
6Your own mouth, not mine, condemns you; your own lips testify against you.
6你自己的口定你有罪，并非是我； 你自己的嘴见证你的不是。
7Were you the first man ever born? Were you brought forth before the hills?
7你岂是头一个被生的人吗？ 你受造在诸山之先吗？
8Do you listen in on the council of God or limit wisdom to yourself?
8你曾听见 神的密旨吗？ 你还将智慧独自得尽吗？
9What do you know that we do not? What do you understand that is not clear to us?
9你知道什么是我们不知道的呢？ 你明白什么是我们不明白的呢？
10Both the gray-haired and the aged are on our side— men much older than your father.
10我们这里有白发的和年纪老迈的， 比你父亲还老。
11Are the consolations of God not enough for you, even words spoken gently to you?
11神用温和的话安慰你， 你以为太小吗？
12Why has your heart carried you away, and why do your eyes flash,
12你的心为何将你逼去？ 你的眼为何冒出火星，
13as you turn your spirit against God and pour such words from your mouth?
13使你的灵反对 神， 也任你的口发这言语？
14What is man, that he should be pure, or one born of woman, that he should be righteous?
14人是什么，竟算为洁净呢？ 妇人所生的是什么，竟算为义呢？
15If God puts no trust in His holy ones, if even the heavens are not pure in His eyes,
15神不信靠他的众圣者； 在他眼前，天也不洁净，
16how much less man, who is vile and corrupt, who drinks injustice like water?
16何况那污秽可憎、 喝罪孽如水的世人呢！
17Listen to me and I will inform you. I will describe what I have seen,
17我指示你，你要听； 我要述说所看见的，
18what was declared by wise men and was not concealed from their fathers,
18就是智慧人从列祖所受， 传说而不隐瞒的。
19to whom alone the land was given when no foreigner passed among them.
19这地惟独赐给他们， 并没有外人从他们中间经过。
20A wicked man writhes in pain all his days; only a few years are reserved for the ruthless.
20恶人一生之日劬劳痛苦； 强暴人一生的年数也是如此。
21Sounds of terror fill his ears; in his prosperity the destroyer attacks him.
21惊吓的声音常在他耳中； 在平安时，抢夺的必临到他那里。
22He despairs of his return from darkness; he is marked for the sword.
22他不信自己能从黑暗中转回； 他被刀剑等候。
23He wanders about as food for vultures; he knows the day of darkness is at hand.
23他漂流在外求食， 说 ：哪里有食物呢？ 他知道黑暗的日子在他手边预备好了。
24Distress and anguish terrify him, overwhelming him like a king poised to attack.
24急难困苦叫他害怕， 而且胜了他，好像君王预备上阵一样。
25For he has stretched out his hand against God and has vaunted himself against the Almighty,
25他伸手攻击 神， 以骄傲攻击全能者，
26rushing headlong at Him with a thick, studded shield.
26挺 着 颈项， 用盾牌的厚凸面向全能者直闯；
27Though his face is covered with fat and his waistline bulges with flesh,
27是因他的脸蒙上脂油， 腰积成肥肉。
28he will dwell in ruined cities, in abandoned houses destined to become rubble.
28他曾住在荒凉城邑， 无人居住、将成乱堆的房屋。
29He will no longer be rich; his wealth will not endure. His possessions will not overspread the land.
29他不得富足，财物不得常存， 产业在地上也不加增。
30He will not escape from the darkness; the flame will wither his shoots, and the breath of God’s mouth will carry him away.
30他不得出离黑暗。 火焰要将他的枝子烧干； 因 神口中的气，他要灭亡 。
31Let him not deceive himself with trust in emptiness, for emptiness will be his reward.
31他不用倚靠虚假欺哄自己， 因虚假必成为他的报应。
32It will be paid in full before his time, and his branch will not flourish.
32他的日期未到之先，这事必成就； 他的枝子不得青绿。
33He will be like a vine stripped of its unripe grapes, like an olive tree that sheds its blossoms.
33他必像葡萄树的葡萄，未熟而落； 又像橄榄树的花，一开而谢。
34For the company of the godless will be barren, and fire will consume the tents of bribery.
34原来不敬虔之辈必无生育； 受贿赂之人的帐棚必被火烧。
35They conceive trouble and give birth to evil; their womb is pregnant with deceit.”
35他们所怀的是毒害，所生的是罪孽； 心里所预备的是诡诈。
