1春の雨の時に、主に雨を求めよ。 主は雷雲を造り、 すべての人に雨を降らせ、 野には草を生えさせる。
1Ask the LORD for rain in springtime; the LORD makes the storm clouds, and He will give everyone showers of rain and crops in the field.
2テラフィム は空しいことを語り、 占い師たちは偽りを見、 偽りの夢を語った。 彼らの慰めはむなしい。 それゆえ、人々は羊のようにさまよい、 羊飼いがいないために苦しめられている。
2For idols speak deceit and diviners see illusions; they tell false dreams and offer empty comfort. Therefore the people wander like sheep, oppressed for lack of a shepherd.
3私の怒りは羊飼いたちに向かって燃え、 私は雄やぎたちを罰する。 万軍の主はご自分の群れ、ユダの家を顧み、 戦いの中の威厳ある馬のようにされるからだ。
3“My anger burns against the shepherds, and I will punish the leaders. For the LORD of Hosts attends to His flock, the house of Judah; He will make them like His royal steed in battle.
4彼から隅のかしら石が出て、 彼から天幕の杭が出て、 彼から戦いの弓が出て、 彼からすべての支配者がともに出る。
4The cornerstone will come from Judah, the tent peg from him, as well as the battle bow and every ruler together.
5彼らは勇士のようになり、 戦いで通りの泥を踏みつける。 主が彼らとともにおられるので、彼らは戦う。 馬に乗る者たちは恥を受ける。
5They will be like mighty men in battle, trampling the enemy in the mire of the streets. They will fight because the LORD is with them, and they will put the horsemen to shame.
6「私はユダの家を強くし、 ヨセフの家を救う。 私は彼らを連れ戻す。 私が彼らをあわれむからだ。 彼らは、私に捨てられたことがなかったかのようになる。 私は彼らの神、主であり、 彼らに答えるからだ。
6I will strengthen the house of Judah and save the house of Joseph. I will restore them because I have compassion on them, and they will be as though I had not rejected them. For I am the LORD their God, and I will answer them.
7エフライムは勇士のようになり、 その心はぶどう酒を飲んだ時のように喜ぶ。 その子どもたちも見て喜び、 その心は主にあって楽しむ。
7Ephraim will be like a mighty man, and their hearts will be glad as with wine. Their children will see it and be joyful; their hearts will rejoice in the LORD.
8私は彼らに合図し、集める。 私が彼らを贖ったからだ。 彼らは以前のように増える。
8I will whistle for them to gather, for I have redeemed them; and they will be as numerous as they once were.
9私は彼らを諸国民の間に種のようにまく。 彼らは遠い国々で私を思い出す。 子どもたちとともに生き延び、帰って来る。
9Though I sow them among the nations, they will remember Me in distant lands; they and their children will live and return.
10私は彼らをエジプトの地から再び連れ出し、 アッシリアから集める。 私は彼らをギルアデとレバノンの地へ連れて行く。 そこにも彼らのための場所が足りなくなる。
10I will bring them back from Egypt and gather them from Assyria. I will bring them to Gilead and Lebanon until no more room is found for them.
11主は苦難の海を渡り、 海の波を打たれる。 ナイル川のすべての深みは干上がり、 アッシリアの誇りは引き下ろされ、 エジプトの王笏は去る。
11They will pass through the sea of distress and strike the waves of the sea; all the depths of the Nile will dry up. The pride of Assyria will be brought down, and the scepter of Egypt will depart.
12私は彼らを主にあって強くする。 彼らは主の御名によって歩む」 と主は言われる。
12I will strengthen them in the LORD, and in His name they will walk,” declares the LORD.
