1從前 以法蓮 說話，人都戰兢， 他在 以色列 中居處高位； 但他在 事奉 巴力 的事上犯罪就死了。
1When Ephraim spoke, a horror seized Israel: and he sinned in Baal and died.
2現今他們罪上加罪， 用銀子為自己鑄造偶像， 就是照自己的聰明製造， 都是匠人的工作。 有人論說， 獻祭的人可以向牛犢親嘴。
2And now they have sinned more and more: and they have made to themselves a molten thing of their silver as the likeness of idols: the whole is the work of craftsmen: to these that say: Sacrifice men, ye that adore calves.
3因此，他們必如早晨的雲霧， 又如速散的甘露， 像場上的糠詷被狂風吹去， 又像煙氣騰於窗外。
3Therefore they shall be as a morning aloud, and as the early dew that passeth away, as the dust that is driven with a whirlwind out of the floor, and as the smoke out of the chimney.
4自從你出 埃及 地以來， 我就是耶和華－你的上帝。 在我以外，你不可認識別神； 除我以外並沒有救主。
4But I am the Lord thy God from the land of Egypt: and thou shalt know no God but me, and there is no saviour beside me.
5我曾在曠野乾旱之地認識你。
5I knew thee in the desert, in the land of the wilderness.
6這些民照 我所賜 的食物得了飽足； 既得飽足，心就高傲， 忘記了我。
6According to their pastures they were filled, and were made full: and they lifted up their heart, and have forgotten me.
7因此，我向他們如獅子， 又如豹伏在道旁。
7And I will be to them as a lioness, as a leopard in the way of the Assyrians.
8我遇見他們必像丟崽子的母熊， 撕裂他們的胸膛。 在那裏，我必像母獅吞吃他們； 野獸必撕裂他們。
8I will meet them as a bear that is robbed of her whelps, and I will rend the inner parts of their liver: and I will devour them there as a lion, the beast of the field shall tear them.
9以色列 啊，你與我反對， 就是反對幫助你的，自取敗壞。
9Destruction is thy own, O Israel: thy help is only in me.
10你曾求我說： 給我立王和首領。 現在你的王在哪裏呢？ 治理你的在哪裏呢？ 讓他在你所有的城中拯救你吧！
10Where is thy king? now especially let him save thee in all thy cities: and thy judges, of whom thou saidst: Give me kings and princes.
11我在怒氣中將王賜你， 又在烈怒中將王廢去。
11I will give thee a king in my wrath, and will take him away in my indignation.
12以法蓮 的罪孽包裹； 他的罪惡收藏。
12The iniquity of Ephraim is bound up, his sin is hidden.
13產婦的疼痛必臨到他身上； 他是無智慧之子， 到了產期不當遲延。
13The sorrows of a woman in labour snail come upon him, he is an unwise son: for now he shall not stand in the breach of the children.
14我必救贖他們脫離陰間， 救贖他們脫離死亡。 死亡啊，你的災害在哪裏呢？ 陰間哪，你的毀滅在哪裏呢？ 在我眼前絕無後悔之事。
14I will deliver them out of the hand of death. I will redeem them from death: O death, I will be thy death; O hell, I will be thy bite: comfort is hidden from my eyes.
15他在弟兄中雖然茂盛， 必有東風颳來， 就是耶和華的風從曠野上來。 他的泉源必乾； 他的源頭必竭； 仇敵必擄掠他所積蓄的一切寶器。
15Because he shall make a separation between brothers: the Lord will bring a burning wind that shall rise from the desert, and it shall dry up his springs, and shall make his fountain desolate, and he shall carry off the treasure of every desirable vessel.
16撒馬利亞 必擔當自己的罪， 因為悖逆她的上帝。 她必倒在刀下； 嬰孩必被摔死； 孕婦必被剖開。
