1過了許久，到第三年，耶和華的話臨到 以利亞 說：「你去，使 亞哈 得見你；我要降雨在地上。」
1After many days the word of the Lord came to Elias, in the third year, saying: Go and shew thyself to Achab, that I may give rain upon the face of the earth.
2以利亞 就去，要使 亞哈 得見他。那時， 撒馬利亞 有大饑荒；
2And Elias went to shew himself to Achab, and there was a grievous famine in Samaria.
3亞哈 將他的家宰 俄巴底 召了來。（ 俄巴底 甚是敬畏耶和華，
3And Achab called Abdias the governor of his house: now Abdias feared the Lord very much.
4耶洗別 殺耶和華眾先知的時候， 俄巴底 將一百個先知藏了，每五十人藏在一個洞裏，拿餅和水供養他們。）
4For when Jezabel killed the prophets of the Lord, he took a hundred prophets and hid them by fifty and fifty in caves, and fed them with bread and water.
5亞哈 對 俄巴底 說：「我們走遍這地，到一切水泉旁和一切溪邊，或者找得着青草，可以救活騾馬，免得絕了牲畜。」
5And Achab said to Abdias: Go into the land unto all fountains of waters, and into all valleys, to see if we can find grass, and save the horses and mules, that the beasts may not utterly perish.
6於是二人分地遊行， 亞哈 獨走一路， 俄巴底 獨走一路。
6And they divided the countries between them, that they might go round about them: Achab went one way, and Abdias another way by himself.
7俄巴底 在路上恰與 以利亞 相遇， 俄巴底 認出他來，就俯伏在地，說：「你是我主 以利亞 不是？」
7And as Abdias was in the way, Elias met him: and he knew him, and fell on his face, and said: Art thou my lord Elias?
8回答說：「是。你去告訴你主人說， 以利亞 在這裏 。」
8And he answered: I am. Go, and tell thy master: Elias is here.
9俄巴底 說：「僕人有甚麼罪，你竟要將我交在 亞哈 手裏，使他殺我呢？
9And he said: What have I sinned, that thou wouldst deliver me thy servant into the hand of Achab, that he should kill me?
10我指着永生耶和華－你的上帝起誓，無論哪一邦哪一國，我主都打發人去找你。若說你沒有在那裏，就必使那邦那國的人起誓說，實在是找不着你。
10As the Lord thy God liveth, there is no nation or kingdom, whither my lord hath not sent to seek thee: and when all answered: He is not here: he took an oath of every kingdom and nation, because thou wast not found.
11現在你說，要去告訴你主人說， 以利亞 在這裏 ；
11And now thou sayest to me: Go, and tell thy master: Elias is here.
12恐怕我一離開你，耶和華的靈就提你到我所不知道的地方去。這樣，我去告訴 亞哈 ，他若找不着你，就必殺我；僕人卻是自幼敬畏耶和華的。
12And when I am gone from thee, the spirit of the Lord will carry thee into a place that I know not: and I shall go in and tell Achab, and he not finding thee, will kill me: but thy servant feareth the Lord from his infancy.
13耶洗別 殺耶和華眾先知的時候，我將耶和華的一百個先知藏了，每五十人藏在一個洞裏，拿餅和水供養他們，豈沒有人將這事告訴我主嗎？
13Hath it not been told thee, my lord, what I did when Jezabel killed the prophets of the Lord, how I hid a hundred men of the prophets of the Lord, by fifty and fifty in caves, and fed them with bread and water?
14現在你說，要去告訴你主人說， 以利亞 在這裏 ，他必殺我。」
14And now thou sayest: Go, and tell thy master: Elias is here: that he may kill me.
15以利亞 說：「我指着所事奉永生的萬軍之耶和華起誓，我今日必使 亞哈 得見我。」
15And Elias said: As the Lord of hosts liveth, before whose face I stand, this day I will shew myself unto him.
16於是 俄巴底 去迎着 亞哈 ，告訴他； 亞哈 就去迎着 以利亞 。
16Abdias therefore went to meet Achab, and told him: and Achab came to meet Elias.
17亞哈 見了 以利亞 ，便說：「使 以色列 遭災的就是你嗎？」
17And when he had seen him, he said: Art thou he that troublest Israel?
18以利亞 說：「使 以色列 遭災的不是我，乃是你和你父家；因為你們離棄耶和華的誡命，去隨從 巴力 。
18And he said: I have not troubled Israel, but thou and thy father’s house, who have forsaken the commandments of the Lord, and have followed Baalim.
19現在你當差遣人，招聚 以色列 眾人和事奉 巴力 的那四百五十個先知，並 耶洗別 所供養事奉 亞舍拉 的那四百個先知，使他們都上 迦密山 去見我。」
19Nevertheless send now, and gather unto me all Israel, unto mount Carmel, and the prophets of Baal four hundred and fifty, and the prophets of the groves four hundred, who eat at Jezabel’s table.
20亞哈 就差遣人招聚 以色列 眾人和先知都上 迦密山 。
20Achab sent to all the children of Israel, and gathered together the prophets unto mount Carmel.
21以利亞 前來對眾民說：「你們心持兩意要到幾時呢？若耶和華是上帝，就當順從耶和華；若 巴力 是上帝，就當順從 巴力 。」眾民一言不答。
21And Elias coming to all the people, said: How long do you halt between two sides? if the Lord be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people did not answer him a word.
22以利亞 對眾民說：「作耶和華先知的只剩下我一個人； 巴力 的先知卻有四百五十個人。
22And Elias said again to the people: I only remain a prophet of the Lord: but the prophets of Baal are four hundred and fifty men.
23當給我們兩隻牛犢， 巴力 的先知可以挑選一隻，切成塊子，放在柴上，不要點火；我也預備一隻牛犢放在柴上，也不點火。
23Let two bullocks be given us, and let them choose one bullock for themselves, and cut it in pieces and lay it upon wood, but put no fire under: and I will dress the other bullock, and lay it on wood, and put no fire under it.
24你們求告你們神的名，我也求告耶和華的名。那降火顯應的神，就是上帝。」眾民回答說：「這話甚好。」
24Call ye on the names of your gods, and I will call on the name of my Lord: and the God that shall answer by fire, let him be God. And all the people answering said: A very good proposal.
25以利亞 對 巴力 的先知說：「你們既是人多，當先挑選一隻牛犢，預備好了，就求告你們神的名，卻不要點火。」
25Then Elias said to the prophets of Baal: Choose you one bullock and dress it first, because you are many: and call on the names of your gods, but put no fire under.
26他們將所得的牛犢預備好了，從早晨到午間，求告 巴力 的名說：「 巴力 啊，求你應允我們！」卻沒有聲音，沒有應允的。他們在所築的壇四圍踊跳。
26And they took the bullock which he gave them, and dressed it: and they called on the name of Baal from morning even till noon, saying: O Baal, hear us. But there was no voice, nor any that answered: and they leaped over the altar that they had made.
27到了正午， 以利亞 嬉笑他們，說：「大聲求告吧！因為他是神，他或默想，或走到一邊，或行路，或睡覺，你們當叫醒他。」
27And when it was now noon, Elias jested at them, saying: Cry with a louder voice: for he is a God, and perhaps he is talking, or is in an inn, or on a journey, or perhaps he is asleep, and must be awaked.
28他們大聲求告，按着他們的規矩，用刀槍自割、自刺，直到身體流血。
28So they cried with a loud voice, and cut themselves after their manner with knives and lancets, till they were all covered with blood.
29從午後直到獻晚祭的時候，他們狂呼亂叫，卻沒有聲音，沒有應允的，也沒有理會的。
29And after midday was past, and while they were prophesying, the time was come of offering sacrifice, and there was no voice heard, nor did any one answer, nor regard them as they prayed:
30以利亞 對眾民說：「你們到我這裏來。」眾民就到他那裏。他便重修已經毀壞耶和華的壇。
30Elias said to all the people: Come ye unto me. And the people coming near unto him, he repaired the altar of the Lord, that was broken down:
31以利亞 照 雅各 子孫支派的數目，取了十二塊石頭（耶和華的話曾臨到 雅各 說：「你的名要叫 以色列 」），
31And he took twelve stones according to the number of the tribes of the sons of Jacob, to whom the word of the Lord came, saying: Israel shall be thy name.
32用這些石頭為耶和華的名築一座壇，在壇的四圍挖溝，可容穀種二細亞，
32And he built with the stones an altar to the name of the Lord: and he made a trench for water, of the breadth of two furrows round about the altar.
33又在壇上擺好了柴，把牛犢切成塊子放在柴上，對眾人說：「你們用四個桶盛滿水，倒在燔祭和柴上」；
33And he laid the wood in order, and cut the bullock in pieces, and laid it upon the wood.
34又說：「倒第二次。」他們就倒第二次；又說：「倒第三次。」他們就倒第三次。
34And he said: Fill four buckets with water, and pour it upon the burnt offering, and upon the wood. And again he said: Do the same the second time. And when they had done it the second time, he said: Do the same also the third time. And they did so the third time.
35水流在壇的四圍，溝裏也滿了水。
35And the water run round about the altar, and the trench was filled with water.
36到了獻 晚 祭的時候，先知 以利亞 近前來，說：「 亞伯拉罕 、 以撒 、 以色列 的上帝，耶和華啊，求你今日使人知道你是 以色列 的上帝，也知道我是你的僕人，又是奉你的命行這一切事。
36And when it was now time to offer the holocaust, Elias the prophet came near and said: O Lord God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Israel, shew this day that thou art the God of Israel, and I thy servant, and that according to thy commandment I have done all these things.
37耶和華啊，求你應允我，應允我！使這民知道你－耶和華是上帝，又知道是你叫這民的心回轉。」
37Hear me, O Lord, hear me: that this people may learn, that thou art the Lord God, and that thou hast turned their heart again.
38於是，耶和華降下火來，燒盡燔祭、木柴、石頭、塵土，又燒乾溝裏的水。
38Then the fire of the Lord fell, and consumed the holocaust, and the wood, and the stones, and the dust, and licked up the water that was in the trench.
39眾民看見了，就俯伏在地，說：「耶和華是上帝！耶和華是上帝！」
39And when all the people saw this, they fell on their faces, and they said: The Lord he is God, the Lord he is God.
40以利亞 對他們說：「拿住 巴力 的先知，不容一人逃脫！」眾人就拿住他們。 以利亞 帶他們到 基順河 邊，在那裏殺了他們。
40And Elias said to them: Take the prophets of Baal, and let not one of them escape. And when they had taken them, Elias brought them down to the torrent Cison, and killed them there.
41以利亞 對 亞哈 說：「你現在可以上去吃喝，因為有多雨的響聲了。」
41And Elias said to Achab: Go up, eat, and drink: for there is a sound of abundance of rain.
42亞哈 就上去吃喝。 以利亞 上了 迦密山 頂，屈身在地，將臉伏在兩膝之中；
42Achab went up to eat and drink: and Elias went up to the top of Carmel, and casting himself down upon the earth put his face between his knees,
43對僕人說：「你上去，向海觀看。」僕人就上去觀看，說：「沒有甚麼。」他說：「你再去觀看。」如此七次。
43And he said to his servant: Go up, and look toward the sea. And he went up, and looked, and said: There is nothing. And again he said to him: Return seven times.
44第七次僕人說：「我看見有一小片雲從海裏上來，不過如人手那樣大。」 以利亞 說：「你上去告訴 亞哈 ，當套車下去，免得被雨阻擋。」
44And at the seventh time, behold, a little cloud arose out of the sea like a man’s foot. And he said: Go up and say to Achab: Prepare thy chariot and go down, lest the rain prevent thee.
45霎時間，天因風雲黑暗，降下大雨。 亞哈 就坐車往 耶斯列 去了。
45And while he turned himself this way and that way, behold the heavens grew dark, with clouds, and wind, and there fell a great rain. And Achab getting up went away to Jezrahel:
46耶和華的靈降在 以利亞 身上，他就束上腰，奔在 亞哈 前頭，直到 耶斯列 的城門。
46And the hand of the Lord was upon Elias, and he girded up his loins and ran before Achab, till he came to Jezrahel.
