1Protož povstali-li jste s Kristem, vrchních věcí hledejte, kdež Kristus na pravici Boží sedí.
1If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2O svrchní věci pečujte, ne o zemské.
2Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3Nebo zemřeli jste, a život váš skryt jest s Kristem v Bohu.
3For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4Když se pak ukáže Kristus, život náš, tehdy i vy ukážete se s ním v slávě.
4When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.
5Protož mrtvěte údy své zemské, smilstvo, nečistotu, chlípnost, žádost zlou, i lakomství, jenž jest modlám sloužení.
5Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth; fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil concupiscence, and covetousness, which is idolatry:
6Pro kteréžto věci přichází hněv Boží na syny zpurné.
6For which things’ sake the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience:
7V kterýchžto hříších i vy někdy chodili jste, když jste živi byli v nich.
7In the which ye also walked some time, when ye lived in them.
8Ale již nyní složtež i vy všecko to, hněv, prchlivost, zlobivost, zlořečení i mrzkomluvnost zapuďte od úst vašich.
8But now ye also put off all these; anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy communication out of your mouth.
9Nelžete jedni na druhé, když jste svlékli s sebe starého člověka s skutky jeho,
9Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
10A oblékli toho nového, obnovujícího se k známosti jasné, podle obrazu toho, jenž jej stvořil,
10And have put on the new man , which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
11Kdežto není Řek a Žid, obřízka a neobřízka, cizozemec a Scýta, služebník a svobodný ale všecko a ve všech Kristus.
11Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
12Protož oblectež se jako vyvolení Boží, svatí, a milí, v srdce lítostivé, v dobrotivost, nízké o sobě smýšlení, krotkost, trpělivost,
12Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;
13Snášejíce jeden druhého a odpouštějíce sobě vespolek, měl-li by kdo proti komu jakou žalobu; jako i Kristus odpustil vám, tak i vy.
13Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye.
14Nadto pak nade všecko oblečeni buďte v lásku, kteráž jest svazek dokonalosti.
14And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness.
15A pokoj Boží vítěziž v srdcích vašich, k němuž i povoláni jste v jedno tělo; a buďtež vděčni.
15And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16Slovo Kristovo přebývejž v vás bohatě se vší moudrostí; učíce a napomínajíce sebe vespolek Žalmy, a zpěvy, a písničkami duchovními, s milostí zpívajíce v srdci vašem Pánu.
16Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.
17A všecko, cožkoli činíte v slovu nebo v skutku, všecko čiňte ve jménu Pána Ježíše, díky činíce Bohu a Otci skrze něho.
17And what soever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him.
18Ženy poddány buďte mužům svým tak, jakž sluší, v Pánu.
18Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.
19Muži milujte ženy své, a nemějtež se přísně k nim.
19Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.
20Dítky poslouchejte rodičů ve všem; nebo to jest dobře libé Pánu.
20Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.
21Otcové nepopouzejte k hněvivosti dítek svých, aby sobě nezoufaly.
21Fathers, provoke not your children to anger , lest they be discouraged.
22Služebníci poslušni buďte ve všem pánů svých tělesných, ne na oko toliko sloužíce, jako ti, jenž se usilují lidem líbiti, ale v sprostnosti srdce, bojíce se Boha.
22Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God:
23A všecko, což byste koli činili, z té duše čiňte, jakožto Pánu, a ne lidem,
23And what soever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24Vědouce, že ode Pána vzíti máte odplatu věčného dědictví; nebo Pánu Kristu sloužíte.
24Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.
25Kdož by pak nepravost páchal, odměnu své nepravosti vezme. A neníť přijímání osob u Boha.
25But he that doeth wrong shall receive for the wrong which he hath done: and there is no respect of persons.
