1Сини в Рубена, найстаршого Ізрайлевого сина, — він перворідень; але як споганив постїль свого батька, то первеньство його віддано синам Йосифа, Ізрайлевого сина, одначе так, щоб не писатись їм первородними;
1Now the sons of Ruben the firstborn of Israel, (for he was his firstborn: but forasmuch as he defiled his father’s bed, his first birthright was given to the sons of Joseph the son of Israel, and he was not accounted for the firstborn.
2Бо Юда був найпотужнїйший між своїми братами, й князь у їх, але первородство перенесено на Йосифа.
2But of the race of Juda, who was the strongest among his brethren, came the princes: but the first birthright was accounted to Joseph.)
3Сини в Рубена, найстаршого Ізрайлевого сина: Ганох, Паллуй, Хезрон та Кармій.
3The sons then of Ruben the firstborn of Israel were Enoch, and Phallu, Esron, and Charmi.
4Сини Йоїлеві: Шемая, його син; його син Гог, його син Шимей,
4The sons of Joel: Samaia his son, Gog his son, Semei his son,
5Його син Миха, його син Реаїя, його син Баал,
5Micha his son, Reia his son, Baal his son,
6Його син Беера, що його погнав у полонь Теглатфелласар, царь Ассирийський. Він був князем у Рубенїїв.
6Beera his son, whom Thelgathphalnasar king of the Assyrians carried away captive, and he was prince in the tribe of Ruben.
7І брати його, по поколїннях їх, та по родах їх, були: перший Еїєль, потім Захарія,
7And his brethren, and all his kindred, when they were numbered by their families, had for princes Jehiel, and Zacharias.
8І Бела, син Азаза, сина Шеми, Йоілового сина. Він жив ув Ароері до Нево та Баал-Меона;
8And Bala the son of Azaz, the son of Samma, the son of Joel, dwelt in Aroer as far as Nebo, and Beelmeon.
9А на схід жив він до ввіходу в пустиню, що тягнеться до ріки Евфрата, бо череди в їх були надто численні в краю Галаадському.
9And eastward he had his habitation as far as the entrance of the desert, and the river Euphrates. For they possessed a great number of cattle in the land of Galaad.
10За часів Саула вони воювались з Агарянами, що й погибли од їх рук, а вони стали жити в їх шатрах по усїй східній стороні Галаада.
10And in the days of Saul they fought against the Agarites, and slew them, and dwelt in their tents in their stead, in all the country, that looketh to the east of Galaad.
11Сини Гадові жили навпроти їх в Базанському краю до Салхи;
11And the children of Gad dwelt over against them in the land of Basan, as far as Selcha:
12В Базанї Йоіль був головою, Шафан-другий, потім Яанай та Шафат.
12Johel the chief, and Saphan the second: and Janai, and Saphat in Basan.
13Братів їх з родинами їх було сїм: Михаїл, Мешуллам, Шева, Йорай, Яакан, Зія та Евер.
13And their brethren according to the houses of their kindreds, were Michael, and Mosollam, and Sebe, and Jorai, and Jacan, and Zie, and Heber, seven.
14Оце сини Авихаїла, сина Хурія, сина Яроаха, сина Галаада, сина Михаїла, сина Ешишая, сина Яхдо, сина Бузового.
14These were the sons of Abihail, the son of Hurl, the son of Jara, the son of Galaad, the son of Michael, the son of Jesisi, the son of Jeddo, the son of But.
15Ахі, син Авдиїла, Гунїєвого сина, був головою свого роду.
15And their brethren the sons of Abdiel, the son of Guni, chief of the house in their families,
16Вони жили в Галаадї, в Базанї й в залежних від його містах і по всїх околицях Сарона, до кінця їх.
16And they dwelt in Galaad, and in Basan and in the towns thereof, and in all the suburbs of Saron, unto the borders.
17Усї вони полїчені за часів Йоатама, Юдейського царя, й за часів Еровоама, Ізраїлського царя.
17All these were numbered in the days of Joathan king of Juda, and in the days of Jeroboam king of Israel.
18У нащадків Рубенових та Гадових і в половинї поколїння Манассіїного було людей військових, мужів, що носили щит і меч, та натягували лука й були зʼучені до битви, — сорок чотири тисячі сїмсот шістьдесять, виступавших на війну.
18The sons of Ruben, and of Gad, and of the half tribe of Manasses, fighting men, bearing shields, and swords, and bending the bow, and trained up to battles, four and forty thousand seven hundred and threescore that went out to war.
19І воювались вони з Агарянами, Етуром, Нафішом і Надавом.
19They fought against the Agarites: but the Itureans, and Naphis, and Nodab,
20І подана їм була поміч проти їх і оддані були в їх руки Агаряне й усе, що в їх було, бо вони в часї бою покликались до Бога, і він почув їх за те, що вони вповали на нього.
20Gave them help. And the Agarites were delivered into their hands, and all that were with them, because they called upon God in the battle: and he heard them, because they had put their faith in him.
21І забрали вони їх череди: верблюдів пятьдесять тисяч, дрібного товару двістї пятьдесять тисяч, ослів дві тисячі, та сто тисяч душ людей,
21And they took all that they possessed, of camels fifty thousand, and of sheep two hundred and fifty thousand, and of asses two thousand, and of men a hundred thousand souls.
22Бо багато попадало вбитих, бо то від Бога був сей побій. І жили вони на їх місцї до переселення.
22And many fell down slain: for it was the battle of the Lord. And they dwelt in their stead till the captivity.
23Нащадки половини Манассіїного поколїння жили в тому краю від Базана до Баал-Ермона й Сенира й до гори Ермона; а було їх багато.
23And the children of the half tribe of Manasses possessed the land, from the borders of Basan unto Baal, Hermon, and Sanir, and mount Hermon, for their number was great.
24А ось голови їх поколїнь: Ефер, Іші, Елиїл, Азриїл, Еремія, Годавія та Ягдиїл, мужі потужні, мужі значні, голови своїх родів.
24And these were the heads of the house of their kindred, Epher, and Jesi, and Eliel, and Esriel, and Jeremia, and Odoia, and Jediel, most valiant and powerful men, and famous chiefs in their families.
25Але як вони почали грішити проти Бога своїх батьків і стали блудно ходити за богами народів тої землї, що їх Бог вигнав зперед їх очей,
25But they forsook the God of their fathers, and went astray after the gods of the people of the land, whom God destroyed before them.
26Тодї Бог збудив дух Фула, царя Ассирийського, та дух Теглатфелласара, царя Ассирийського, й виселив він Рубенїїв та Гадїїв і половину поколїння Манассіїного, й погнав їх в Халах і Хавір, і Ару, й на ріку Гозан, — де вони й до сього часу.
26And the God of Israel stirred up the spirit of Phul king of the Assyrians, and the spirit of Thelgathphalnasar king of Assur: and he carried away Ruben, and Gad, and the half tribe of Manasses, and brought them to Lahela, and to Habor, and to Ara, and to the river of Gozan, unto this day.
