1Ὑπολαβὼν δὲ Βαλδὰδ ὁ Σαυχίτης, λέγει,
1Then Baldad the Suhite answered, and I said:
2Τί γὰρ προοίμιον ἢ φόβος παρʼ αὐτοῦ ὁ ποιῶν τὴν σύμπασαν ἐν ὑψιστῳ;
2Power and terror are with him, who maketh peace in his high places.
3Μὴ γάρ τις ὑπολάβοι ὅτι ἐστὶ παρέλκυσις πειραταῖς· ἐπὶ τίνας δὲ οὐκ ἐπελεύσεται ἔνεδρα παρʼ αὐτοῦ;
3Is there any numbering of his soldiers? and upon whom shall not his light arise?
4Πῶς γὰρ ἔσται δίκαιος βροτὸς ἔναντι Κυρίου; ἢ τίς ἂν ἀποκαθαρίσαι αὐτὸν γεννητὸς γυναικός;
4Can man be justified compared with God, or he that is born of a woman appear clean?
5Εἰ σελήνῃ συντάσσει, καὶ οὐκ ἐπιφαύσκει, ἄστρα δὲ οὐ καθαρὰ ἐναντίον αὐτοῦ.
5Behold even the moon doth not shine, and the stars are not pure in his sight.
6Ἔα δὲ, ἄνθρωπος σαπρία, καὶ υἱὸς ἀνθρώπου σκώληξ.
6How much less man that is rottenness and the son of man who is a worm?
