1Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
1Pavel apoštol Jezukristův, skrze vůli Boží, svatým, kteří jsou v Efezu, a věrným v Kristu Ježíši:
2Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
2Milost vám a pokoj od Boha Otce našeho a Pána Jezukrista.
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
3Požehnaný Bůh a Otec Pána našeho Jezukrista, kterýž požehnal nám všelikým požehnáním duchovním v nebeských věcech v Kristu.
4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
4Jakož vyvolil nás v něm před ustanovením světa k tomu, abychom byli svatí a neposkvrnění před obličejem jeho v lásce,
5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,
5Předzřídiv nás k zvolení za syny skrze Ježíše Krista v sebe, podle dobře libé vůle své,
6To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.
6K chvále slávy milosti své, kterouž vzácné nás učinil v milém Synu svém.
7In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;
7V němžto máme vykoupení skrze krev jeho, totiž odpuštění hříchů, podle bohatství milosti jeho,
8Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;
8Kterouž rozhojnil k nám ve vší moudrosti a opatrnosti,
9Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:
9Oznámiv nám tajemství vůle své podle dobré libosti své, kteroužto libost předuložil byl sám v sobě,
10That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:
10Aby v dokonání plnosti časů v jedno shromáždil všecko v Kristu, buďto nebeské věci, buďto zemské.
11In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:
11V něm, pravím, v kterémžto i k losu připuštěni jsme, předzřízeni byvše, podle předuložení toho, jenž všecko působí podle rady vůle své,
12That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.
12Abychom tak byli k chvále slávy jeho my, kteříž jsme prve naději měli v Kristu.
13In whom ye also trusted , after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,
13V kterémžto i vy naději máte, slyševše slovo pravdy, totiž evangelium spasení vašeho, v němžto i uvěřivše, znamenáni jste Duchem zaslíbení Svatým,
14Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.
14Kterýž jest závdavek dědictví našeho, na vykoupení toho, což jím dobyto jest, k chvále slávy jeho.
15Wherefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love unto all the saints,
15Protož i já, slyšev o vaší víře v Pánu Ježíši, a o lásce ke všem svatým,
16Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers;
16Nepřestávám díků činiti z vás, zmínku čině o vás na modlitbách svých:
17That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
17Aby Bůh Pána našeho Jezukrista, Otec slávy, dal vám Ducha moudrosti a zjevení, v poznání jeho,
18The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
18A tak osvícené oči mysli vaší, abyste věděli, která by byla naděje povolání jeho a jaké bohatství slávy dědictví jeho v svatých,
19And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,
19A kterak jest převýšená velikost moci jeho k nám věřícím podle působení mocnosti síly jeho,
20Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly places ,
20Kteréž dokázal na Kristu, vzkřísiv jej z mrtvých a posadiv na pravici své na nebesích,
21Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come:
21Vysoce nade všecko knížatstvo, i mocnosti, i moci, i panstvo, i nad každé jméno, kteréž se jmenuje, netoliko v věku tomto, ale i v budoucím.
22And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church,
22A všecko poddal pod nohy jeho, a jej dal hlavu nade všecko církvi,
23Which is his body, the fulness of him that filleth all in all.
23Kterážto jest tělo jeho a plnost všecko ve všech naplňujícího.
