1And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chislev;
1Потом четврте године цара Дарија дође реч Господња Захарији четвртог дана деветог месеца, Хаслева,
2When Bethel-sarezer, and Regem-melech and his men, had sent to entreat the favour of the LORD,
2кад послаше у дом Божји Сарасара и Регемелеха и људе своје да моле Господа,
3and to speak unto the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying: 'Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?'
3и да говоре свештеницима, који беху у дому Господа над војскама, и пророцима, и кажу: Хоћемо ли плакати петог месеца одвајајући се, како чинисмо већ толико година?
4Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying:
4И дође ми реч Господња Говорећи:
5'Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying: When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did ye at all fast unto Me, even to Me?
5Кажи свему народу земаљском и свештеницима, и реци: Кад постисте и тужисте петог и седмог месеца за седамдесет година, еда ли мени постисте?
6And when ye eat, and when ye drink, are ye not they that eat, and they that drink?
6А кад једете и пијете, не једете ли и не пијете ли сами?
7Should ye not hearken to the words which the LORD hath proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?'
7Нису ли то речи које је Господ прогласио преко пређашњих пророка, кад Јерусалим беше насељен и миран и градови његови око њега, и кад беше насељен јужни крај и равница?
8And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying:
8Дође реч Господња Захарији говорећи:
9'Thus hath the LORD of hosts spoken, saying: Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassion every man to his brother;
9Овако говори Господ над војскама: Судите право и будите милостиви и жалостиви један другом.
10and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.
10И не чините криво удовици ни сироти, иностранцу ни сиромаху, и не мислите зло један другом у срцу свом.
11But they refused to attend, and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.
11Али не хтеше слушати, и узмакоше раменом натраг, и затискоше уши своје да не чују.
12Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His spirit by the hand of the former prophets; therefore came there great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
12И срцем својим отврднуше као дијамант да не чују закон и речи које сла Господ над војскама духом својим преко пророка пређашњих; зато дође велик гнев од Господа над војскама.
13And it came to pass that, as He called, and they would not hear; so they shall call, and I will not hear, said the LORD of hosts;
13Зато као што Он вика, а они не слушаше, тако и они викаше а ја их не слушах, говори Господ над војскама.
14but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned; for they laid the pleasant land desolate.'
14Него их разметнух вихором по свим народима, којих не познаваше, и земља опусте иза њих да нико у њу не дохођаше нити се из ње враћаше, и обратише милу земљу у пустош.
