1And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chislev;
1No quarto ano do rei Dario, a palavra do SENHOR veio a Zacarias no quarto dia do nono mês, o mês de quisleu.
2When Bethel-sarezer, and Regem-melech and his men, had sent to entreat the favour of the LORD,
2O povo de Betel enviou Sarezer e Regém-Meleque, e os seus homens, para suplicar o favor do SENHOR,
3and to speak unto the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying: 'Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?'
3e para falar aos sacerdotes da casa do SENHOR dos Exércitos e aos profetas, dizendo: “Devo eu chorar no quinto mês, abstendo-me, como tenho feito por tantos anos?”
4Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying:
4Então a palavra do SENHOR dos Exércitos veio a mim, dizendo:
5'Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying: When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did ye at all fast unto Me, even to Me?
5“Fale a todo o povo da terra e aos sacerdotes, dizendo: 'Quando vocês jejuaram e lamentaram no quinto e no sétimo mês, durante estes setenta anos, foi para mim, realmente para mim, que vocês jejuaram?
6And when ye eat, and when ye drink, are ye not they that eat, and they that drink?
6E quando vocês comem e quando bebem, não é para vocês mesmos que comem e para vocês mesmos que bebem?
7Should ye not hearken to the words which the LORD hath proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?'
7Não são estas as palavras que o SENHOR proclamou pelos antigos profetas, quando Jerusalém estava habitada e em prosperidade, com as suas cidades ao redor dela, e o Sul e a planície estavam habitados?'”
8And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying:
8A palavra do SENHOR veio a Zacarias, dizendo:
9'Thus hath the LORD of hosts spoken, saying: Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassion every man to his brother;
9“Assim falou o SENHOR dos Exércitos, dizendo: 'Executem a verdadeira justiça, e mostrem bondade e compaixão cada um para com o seu irmão.
10and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.
10Não oprimam a viúva, o órfão, o estrangeiro, nem o pobre; e que nenhum de vocês planeje o mal contra o seu irmão em seu coração.'
11But they refused to attend, and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.
11Mas eles se recusaram a ouvir, viraram as costas, e taparam os ouvidos para não ouvir.
12Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His spirit by the hand of the former prophets; therefore came there great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
12Sim, eles tornaram os seus corações duros como pederneira, para que não ouvissem a lei e as palavras que o SENHOR dos Exércitos tinha enviado pelo seu Espírito, por meio dos antigos profetas. Por isso veio grande ira da parte do SENHOR dos Exércitos.
13And it came to pass that, as He called, and they would not hear; so they shall call, and I will not hear, said the LORD of hosts;
13Aconteceu que, assim como ele chamou e eles se recusaram a ouvir, assim eles chamarão e eu não ouvirei”, disse o SENHOR dos Exércitos;
14but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned; for they laid the pleasant land desolate.'
14“mas eu os espalharei com um redemoinho entre todas as nações que eles não conheceram. Assim a terra ficou desolada atrás deles, de modo que ninguém passava por ela nem retornava; pois eles tornaram desolada a terra aprazível.”
