1Of Moab. Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel: Woe unto Nebo! for it is spoiled; Kiriathaim is put to shame, it is taken; Misgab is put to shame and dismayed.
1Про Моаба так говорить Господь Саваот, Бог Ізрайлїв: Горе Неву-місту! воно спустошене буде; соромом окритий Киріятярим і звойований; та й Мизгав покриєсь стидом і в нїщо його обернуть. Замок високий обернено в посьміх!
2The praise of Moab is no more; in Heshbon they have devised evil against her: 'Come, and let us cut her off from being a nation.' Thou also, O Madmen, shalt be brought to silence; the sword shall pursue thee.
2Слава Моабова зникне навіки; Гесбону недолю готують: нумо, витратьмо його зміж народів! Та й ти, Мадмено, погибнеш; меч ійде за тобою.
3Hark! a cry from Horonaim, spoiling and great destruction!
3Чути крик і з Оронаїму, і тут валять-опустошують страшно!
4Moab is destroyed; her little ones have caused a cry to be heard.
4Стерто на порох Моаб, дїти його заридали.
5For by the ascent of Luhith with continual weeping shall they go up; for in the going down of Horonaim they have heard the distressing cry of destruction.
5Від підходячих у гору в Лухит голосний плач роздається, від спускаючихся в низ із Оронаїму зачуває ворог риданнє по спустошенню.
6Flee, save your lives, and be like a tamarisk in the wilderness.
6Утїкайте, рятуйте життє, наге, мізерне як та деревина серед пустинї.
7For, because thou hast trusted in thy works and in thy treasures, thou also shalt be taken; and Chemosh shall go forth into captivity, his priests and his princes together.
7Ти вповав на вироби рук твоїх, на твої достатки; за те ж пійдеш в неволю, ти самий, й бовван твій Хамос разом із своїми сьвященниками та князями своїми.
8And the spoiler shall come upon every city, and no city shall escape; the valley also shall perish, and the plain shall be destroyed; as the LORD hath spoken.
8Прийде пустошник на кожний ваш город, й нї одно місто не остане цїле; погибне долина, спустїє поділлє, як заповів Господь.
9Give wings unto Moab, for she must fly and get away; and her cities shall become a desolation, without any to dwell therein.
9Дайте Моабові крила навтеки летїти; бо в городах його буде безлюддє, нїкому буде в них проживати!
10Cursed be he that doeth the work of the LORD with a slack hand, and cursed be he that keepeth back his sword from blood.
10Проклят, хто справу Господню справляв би байдужно, проклят, хто спиняв би меча його, кров проливати!
11Moab hath been at ease from his youth, and he hath settled on his lees, and hath not been emptied from vessel to vessel, neither hath he gone into captivity; therefore his taste remaineth in him, and his scent is not changed.
11Змалку жив Моаб у супокою, седїв на гущі своїй і не переливано його з посудини в другу посудину, його в неволю не займано зроду; тим то зоставався в йому й смак його, та й запах його не змінявся.
12Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will send unto him them that tilt up, and they shall tilt him up; and they shall empty his vessels, and break their bottles in pieces.
12От же, говорить Господь, надходить час, що я пришлю до його переливачів, а вони переллють його, й опорожнять посуд його й глеки його порозбивають.
13And Moab shall be ashamed of Chemosh, as the house of Israel was ashamed of Beth-el their confidence.
13І окриється соромом Моаб задля Хамоса, як окрився стидом дом Ізраїля задля Бетеля, — надїї своєї.
14How say ye: 'We are mighty men, and valiant men for the war'?
14Що ви говорите: Ми хоробрі мужі, силачі до війни?
15Moab is spoiled, and they are gone up into her cities, and his chosen young men are gone down to the slaughter, saith the King, whose name is the LORD of hosts.
15Нї! Моаб, наче вже опустошений, міста його, як би вже горіли, а вибрані молодики ваші, мов би на заріз пійшли, говорить Царь, — Господь Саваот імя його.
16The calamity of Moab is near to come, and his affliction hasteth fast.
16О, близька погибель Моабова, сквапно надходять злиднї його.
17Bemoan him, all ye that are round about him, and all ye that know his name; say: 'How is the strong staff broken, the beautiful rod!'
17Пожальтесь його, всї його сусїди, й усї, що знаєте імя його, заголосїте: Як се зломилось жезло сили, палиця слави!
18O thou daughter that dwellest in Dibon, come down from thy glory, and sit in thirst; for the spoiler of Moab is come up against thee, he hath destroyed thy strongholds.
18Ізійди вниз із висоти величі і сядь на місцї спраги, дочко-осаднице Дибону, вже бо наступає пустошник Моабу, й порозвалює твердинї твої.
19O inhabitant of Aroer, stand by the way, and watch; ask him that fleeth, and her that escapeth; say: 'What hath been done?'
19Стань при дорозї, сусїдко-осаднице Ароерська, питай у тих, що, втїкаючи, шукають рятунку: Що таке сталось?
20Moab is put to shame, for it is dismayed; wail and cry; tell ye it in Arnon, that Moab is spoiled.
20(а почуєш:) Осоромлений, Моаб, бо вже звойований; плачте, ридайте, вістїте в Арнонї, що Моаб — пустиня;
21And judgment is come upon the country of the Plain; upon Holon, and upon Jahzah, and upon Mephaath;
21Що прийшов суд на рівнини, на Халон і на Яазу й на Мофат,
22and upon Dibon, and upon Nebo, and upon Beth-diblathaim;
22І на Дибон і на Нево й на Бет-Дивлатаїм,
23and upon Kiriathaim, and upon Beth-gamul, and upon Beth-meon;
23І на Каріатаїм, і на Бет-Гамул і на Бет-Маон,
24and upon Kerioth, and upon Bozrah, and upon all the cities of the land of Moab, far or near.
24І на Керіот і на Восор та й на всї городи Моабські, як далекі, так і близькі.
25The horn of Moab is cut off, and his arm is broken, saith the LORD.
25Збито рога Моабові й зломано руку йому, говорить Господь.
26Make ye him drunken, for he magnified himself against the LORD; and Moab shall wallow in his vomit, and he also shall be in derision.
26Упоїте до пяна його, пишався бо проти Господа; нехай же валяється Моаб у своїй блювотинї й буде сьміховищем.
27For was not Israel a derision unto thee? Was he found among thieves? For as often as thou speakest of him, thou waggest the head.
27Хиба ж Ізраїль та не був сьміховищем у тебе? Чи то ж його та поймано між злодїями, що ти, було, як заговориш про него, так і похитуєш головою?
28O ye that dwell in Moab, leave the cities, and dwell in the rock; and be like the dove that maketh her nest in the sides of the pit's mouth.
28Покидайте ж тепер міста, ви осадники Моабські, та й живіте, мов голуби, що гнїздяться коло ввіходів у печери.
29We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud; his loftiness, and his pride, and his haughtiness, and the assumption of his heart.
29О, наслухались ми про гордощі Моабові — гордощі без міри, як він високо нїс себе, як пишався, як у гору неслося серце його.
30I know his arrogancy, saith the LORD, that it is ill-founded; his boastings have wrought nothing well-founded.
30Знаю я, говорить Господь, буйність його, та вона марна; пусті слова його; не здолїють того вчинити (що говорять).
31Therefore will I wail for Moab; yea, I will cry out for all Moab; for the men of Kir-heres shall my heart moan.
31Тим то й буду голосити по Моабові, плакати по всьому Моабові, буду зітхати по людях Кирхареських;
32With more than the weeping of Jazer will I weep for thee, O vine of Sibmah; thy branches passed over the sea, they reached even to the sea of Jazer; upon thy summer fruits and upon thy vintage the spoiler is fallen.
32Плакати му по тобі, Севамо виноградня, тим плачем, що й по Язері: паростки твої сягали аж поза море, доходили до озера Язерського; аж се пустошник напав на лїтні плоди твої, на виноград спілий.
33And gladness and joy is taken away from the fruitful field, and from the land of Moab; and I have caused wine to cease from the winepresses; none shall tread with shouting; the shouting shall be no shouting.
33Утихли радощі й веселощі в тім Кармелю, в землї Моабський; я уйму вино в точилах; не будуть уже топтати в них, сьпіваючи; гук воєнний буде чути, а не гомін радісний.
34From the cry of Heshbon even unto Elealeh, even unto Jahaz have they uttered their voice, from Zoar even unto Horonaim, a heifer of three years old; for the Waters of Nimrim also shall be desolate.
34Од плачу в Есевонї аж до Елеали й до Яаци залунає їх голос і від Сигора до Оронаїму, до третьої Егли; та й води в Нимримі повисихають.
35Moreover I will cause to cease in Moab, saith the LORD, him that offereth in the high place, and him that offereth to his gods.
35Вигублю, говорить Господь, у Моаба тих, що приносять жертви на висотах та кадять богам його.
36Therefore my heart moaneth for Moab like pipes, and my heart moaneth like pipes for the men of Kir-heres; therefore the abundance that he hath gotten is perished.
36Тим же то серце моє тужить по Моабі, мов сопілка; стогном сопілки плаче серце моє по осадниках Кирхареських, всї бо багацтва, що вони надбали, поникли без слїду.
37For every head is bald, and every beard clipped; upon all the hands are cuttings, and upon the loins sackcloth.
37У кожного голова лиса, в кожного борода стрижена, руки подряпані, чересла веретищем окриті,
38On all the housetops of Moab and in the broad places thereof there is lamentation every where; for I have broken Moab like a vessel wherein is no pleasure, saith the LORD.
38Скрізь у Моаба по кришах, майданах сумують-плачуть, я бо розбив Моаба, мов посудину непотрібну, говорить Господь.
39'How is it broken down!' wail ye! 'How hath Moab turned the back with shame!' So shall Moab become a derision and a dismay to all that are round about him.
39Як же розбито його, — будуть із спожалїннєм говорити; як же Моаб осоромився, подавшись навтеки! і стане Моаб сьміховищем і острахом усїм сусїдам своїм;
40For thus saith the LORD: Behold, he shall swoop as a vulture, and shall spread out his wings against Moab.
40Так бо говорить Господь: Ось він (Навуходонозор) орлом налетить, розпростре свої крила над Моабом:
41The cities are taken, and the strongholds are seized, and the heart of the mighty men of Moab at that day shall be as the heart of a woman in her pangs.
41Загорне міста, звоює твердинї, а серця в хоробрих Моабіїв стрівожаться в той час, як серце в жінки-породїлї.
42And Moab shall be destroyed from being a people, because he hath magnified himself against the LORD.
42І вигублений буде Моаб ізпроміж народів за те, що згордїв був проти Господа.
43Terror, and the pit, and the trap, are upon thee, O inhabitant of Moab, saith the LORD.
43Переляк і яма й сїтї прийдуть на тебе, Моабський осаднику, говорить Господь.
44He that fleeth from the terror shall fall into the pit; and he that getteth up out of the pit shall be taken in the trap; for I will bring upon her, even upon Moab, the year of their visitation, saith the LORD.
44Хто від ляку втече, впаде в яму; хто вийде з ями, попаде в сїт. Таке бо пошлю на Моаба в годину кари моєї, говорить Господь.
45In the shadow of Heshbon the fugitives stand without strength; for a fire is gone forth out of Heshbon, and a flame from the midst of Sihon, and it devoureth the corner of Moab, and the crown of the head of the tumultuous ones.
45Наче в тїнї, схороняться у твердинї Есевонській втїкачі втомлені, та з Есевону вийде огонь, поломя з Сигону, й пожере бік Моабу, і тїмє сих людей непокірливих.
46Woe unto thee, O Moab! The people of Chemosh is undone; for thy sons are taken away captive, and thy daughters into captivity.
46Горе тобі, Моабе! погинув нарід Хамоса; бо сини твої й дочки пійшли в неволю.
47Yet will I turn the captivity of Moab in the end of days, saith the LORD. Thus far is the judgment of Moab.
47Та колись я поверну Моаба з полону, говорить Господь. Досі суд на Моаба.
