1And it came to pass after this, that Absalom the son of David had a fair sister, whose name was Tamar; and Amnon the son of David loved her.
1大衛 的兒子 押沙龍 有一個美貌的妹子，名叫 她瑪 。 大衛 的兒子 暗嫩 愛她。
2And Amnon was so distressed that he fell sick because of his sister Tamar; for she was a virgin; and it seemed hard to Amnon to do any thing unto her.
2暗嫩 為他妹子 她瑪 憂急成病。 她瑪 還是處女， 暗嫩 以為難向她行事。
3But Amnon had a friend, whose name was Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother; and Jonadab was a very subtle man.
3暗嫩 有一個朋友，名叫 約拿達 ，是 大衛 長兄 示米亞 的兒子。這 約拿達 為人極其狡猾；
4And he said unto him: 'Why, O son of the king, art thou thus becoming leaner from day to day? wilt thou not tell me?' And Amnon said unto him: 'I love Tamar, my brother Absalom's sister.'
4他問 暗嫩 說：「王的兒子啊，為何一天比一天瘦弱呢？請你告訴我。」 暗嫩 回答說：「我愛我兄弟 押沙龍 的妹子 她瑪 。」
5And Jonadab said unto him: 'Lay thee down on thy bed, and feign thyself sick; and when thy father cometh to see thee, say unto him: Let my sister Tamar come, I pray thee, and give me bread to eat, and dress the food in my sight, that I may see it, and eat it at her hand.'
5約拿達 說：「你不如躺在床上裝病；你父親來看你，就對他說：『求父叫我妹子 她瑪 來，在我眼前預備食物，遞給我吃，使我看見，好從她手裏接過來吃。』」
6So Amnon lay down, and feigned himself sick; and when the king was come to see him, Amnon said unto the king: 'Let my sister Tamar come, I pray thee, and make me a couple of cakes in my sight, that I may eat at her hand.'
6於是 暗嫩 躺臥裝病。王來看他，他對王說：「求父叫我妹子 她瑪 來，在我眼前為我做兩個餅，我好從她手裏接過來吃。」
7Then David sent home to Tamar, saying: 'Go now to thy brother Amnon's house, and dress him food.'
7大衛 就打發人到宮裏，對 她瑪 說：「你往你哥哥 暗嫩 的屋裏去，為他預備食物。」
8So Tamar went to her brother Amnon's house; and he was lying down. And she took dough, and kneaded it, and made cakes in his sight, and did bake the cakes.
8她瑪 就到她哥哥 暗嫩 的屋裏； 暗嫩 正躺臥。 她瑪 摶麵，在他眼前做餅，且烤熟了，
9And she took the pan, and poured them out before him; but he refused to eat. And Amnon said: 'Have out all men from me.' And they went out every man from him.
9在他面前將餅從鍋裏倒出來，他卻不肯吃，便說：「眾人離開我出去吧！」眾人就都離開他，出去了。
10And Amnon said unto Tamar: 'Bring the food into the chamber, that I may eat of thy hand.' And Tamar took the cakes which she had made, and brought them into the chamber to Amnon her brother.
10暗嫩 對 她瑪 說：「你把食物拿進臥房，我好從你手裏接過來吃。」 她瑪 就把所做的餅拿進臥房，到她哥哥 暗嫩 那裏，
11And when she had brought them near unto him to eat, he took hold of her, and said unto her: 'Come lie with me, my sister.'
11拿着餅上前給他吃，他便拉住 她瑪 ，說：「我妹妹，你來與我同寢。」
12And she answered him: 'Nay, my brother, do not force me; for no such thing ought to be done in Israel; do not thou this wanton deed.
12她瑪 說：「我哥哥，不要玷辱我。 以色列 人中不當這樣行，你不要做這醜事；
13And I, whither shall I carry my shame? and as for thee, thou wilt be as one of the base men in Israel. Now therefore, I pray thee, speak unto the king; for he will not withhold me from thee.'
13你 玷辱了我 ，我何以掩蓋我的羞恥呢？你在 以色列 中也成了愚妄人。你可以求王，他必不禁止我歸你。」
14Howbeit he would not hearken unto her voice; but being stronger than she, he forced her, and lay with her.
14但 暗嫩 不肯聽她的話，因比她力大，就玷辱她，與她同寢。
15Then Amnon hated her with exceeding great hatred; for the hatred wherewith he hated her was greater than the love wherewith he had loved her. And Amnon said unto her: 'Arise, be gone.'
15隨後， 暗嫩 極其恨她，那恨她的心比先前愛她的心更甚，對她說：「你起來，去吧！」
16And she said unto him: 'Not so, because this great wrong in putting me forth is worse than the other that thou didst unto me.' But he would not hearken unto her.
16她瑪 說：「不要這樣！你趕出我去的這罪比你才行的更重！」但 暗嫩 不肯聽她的話，
17Then he called his servant that ministered unto him, and said: 'Put now this woman out from me, and bolt the door after her.' —
17就叫伺候自己的僕人來，說：「將這個女子趕出去！她一出去，你就關門，上閂。」
18Now she had a garment of many colours upon her; for with such robes were the king's daughters that were virgins apparelled. — And his servant brought her out, and bolted the door after her.
18那時 她瑪 穿着彩衣，因為沒有出嫁的公主都是這樣穿。 暗嫩 的僕人就把她趕出去，關門上閂。
19And Tamar put ashes on her head, and rent her garment of many colours that was on her; and she laid her hand on her head, and went her way, crying aloud as she went.
19她瑪 把灰塵撒在頭上，撕裂所穿的彩衣，以手抱頭，一面行走，一面哭喊。
20And Absalom her brother said unto her: 'Hath Amnon thy brother been with thee? but now hold thy peace, my sister: he is thy brother; take not this thing to heart.' So Tamar remained desolate in her brother Absalom's house.
20她胞兄 押沙龍 問她說：「莫非你哥哥 暗嫩 與你親近了嗎？我妹妹，暫且不要作聲，他是你的哥哥，不要將這事放在心上。」 她瑪 就孤孤單單地住在她胞兄 押沙龍 家裏。
21But when king David heard of all these things, he was very wroth.
21大衛 王聽見這事，就甚發怒。
22And Absalom spoke unto Amnon neither good nor bad; for Absalom hated Amnon, because he had forced his sister Tamar.
22押沙龍 並不和他哥哥 暗嫩 說好說歹；因為 暗嫩 玷辱他妹妹 她瑪 ，所以 押沙龍 恨惡他。
23And it came to pass after two full years, that Absalom had sheep-shearers in Baal-hazor, which is beside Ephraim; and Absalom invited all the king's sons.
23過了二年，在靠近 以法蓮 的 巴力‧夏瑣 有人為 押沙龍 剪羊毛； 押沙龍 請王的眾子與他同去。
24And Absalom came to the king, and said: 'Behold now, thy servant hath sheep-shearers; let the king, I pray thee, and his servants go with thy servant.'
24押沙龍 來見王，說：「現在有人為僕人剪羊毛，請王和王的臣僕與僕人同去。」
25And the king said to Absalom: 'Nay, my son, let us not all go, lest we be burdensome unto thee.' And he pressed him; howbeit he would not go, but blessed him.
25王對 押沙龍 說：「我兒，我們不必都去，恐怕使你耗費太多。」 押沙龍 再三請王，王仍是不肯去，只為他祝福。
26Then said Absalom: 'If not, I pray thee, let my brother Amnon go with us.' And the king said unto him: 'Why should he go with thee?'
26押沙龍 說：「王若不去，求王許我哥哥 暗嫩 同去。」王說：「何必要他去呢？」
27But Absalom pressed him, and he let Amnon and all the king's sons go with him.
27押沙龍 再三求王，王就許 暗嫩 和王的眾子與他同去。
28And Absalom commanded his servants, saying: 'Mark ye now, when Amnon's heart is merry with wine; and when I say unto you: Smite Amnon, then kill him, fear not; have not I commanded you? be courageous, and be valiant.'
28押沙龍 吩咐僕人說：「你們注意，看 暗嫩 飲酒暢快的時候，我對你們說殺 暗嫩 ，你們便殺他，不要懼怕。這不是我吩咐你們的嗎？你們只管壯膽奮勇！」
29And the servants of Absalom did unto Amnon as Absalom had commanded. Then all the king's sons arose, and every man got him up upon his mule, and fled.
29押沙龍 的僕人就照 押沙龍 所吩咐的，向 暗嫩 行了。王的眾子都起來，各人騎上騾子，逃跑了。
30And it came to pass, while they were in the way, that the tidings came to David, saying: 'Absalom hath slain all the king's sons, and there is not one of them left.'
30他們還在路上，有風聲傳到 大衛 那裏，說：「 押沙龍 將王的眾子都殺了，沒有留下一個。」
31Then the king arose, and rent his garments, and lay on the earth; and all his servants stood by with their clothes rent.
31王就起來，撕裂衣服，躺在地上。王的臣僕也都撕裂衣服，站在旁邊。
32And Jonadab, the son of Shimeah David's brother, answered and said: 'Let not my lord suppose that they have killed all the young men the king's sons; for Amnon only is dead; for by the appointment of Absalom this hath been determined from the day that he forced his sister Tamar.
32大衛 的長兄， 示米亞 的兒子 約拿達 說：「我主，不要以為王的眾子－少年人都殺了，只有 暗嫩 一個人死了。自從 暗嫩 玷辱 押沙龍 妹子 她瑪 的那日， 押沙龍 就定意殺 暗嫩 了。
33Now therefore let not my lord the king take the thing to his heart, to think that all the king's sons are dead; for Amnon only is dead.'
33現在，我主我王，不要把這事放在心上，以為王的眾子都死了，只有 暗嫩 一個人死了。」
34But Absalom fled. And the young man that kept the watch lifted up his eyes, and looked, and, behold, there came much people in a roundabout way by the hill-side.
34押沙龍 逃跑了。 守望的少年人舉目觀看，見有許多人從山坡的路上來。
35And Jonadab said unto the king: 'Behold, the king's sons are come; as thy servant said, so it is.'
35約拿達 對王說：「看哪，王的眾子都來了，果然與你僕人所說的相合。」
36And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of speaking, that, behold, the king's sons came, and lifted up their voice, and wept; and the king also and all his servants wept very sore.
36話才說完，王的眾子都到了，放聲大哭；王和臣僕也都哭得甚慟。
37But Absalom fled, and went to Talmai the son of Ammihud, king of Geshur. And David mourned for his son every day.
37押沙龍 逃到 基述 王 亞米忽 的兒子 達買 那裏去了。 大衛 天天為他兒子悲哀。
38So Absalom fled, and went to Geshur, and was there three years.
38押沙龍 逃到 基述 ，在那裏住了三年。
39And the soul of king David failed with longing for Absalom; for he was comforted concerning Amnon, seeing he was dead.
39暗嫩 死了以後， 大衛 王得了安慰，心裏切切想念 押沙龍 。
