1Now it came to pass in the third year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Hezekiah the son of Ahaz king of Judah began to reign.
1以色列 王 以拉 的兒子 何細亞 第三年， 猶大 王 亞哈斯 的兒子 希西家 登基。
2Twenty and five years old was he when he began to reign; and he reigned twenty and nine years in Jerusalem; and his mother's name was Abi the daughter of Zechariah.
2他登基的時候年二十五歲，在 耶路撒冷 作王二十九年。他母親名叫 亞比 ，是 撒迦利雅 的女兒。
3And he did that which was right in the eyes of the LORD, according to all that David his father had done.
3希西家 行耶和華眼中看為正的事，效法他祖 大衛 一切所行的。
4He removed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah; and he broke in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made; for unto those days the children of Israel did offer to it; and it was called Nehushtan.
4他廢去邱壇，毀壞柱像，砍下木偶，打碎 摩西 所造的銅蛇，因為到那時 以色列 人仍向銅蛇燒香。 希西家 叫銅蛇為銅塊。
5He trusted in the LORD, the God of Israel; so that after him was none like him among all the kings of Judah, nor among them that were before him.
5希西家 倚靠耶和華－ 以色列 的上帝，在他前後的 猶大 列王中沒有一個及他的。
6For he cleaved to the LORD, he departed not from following Him, but kept His commandments, which the LORD commanded Moses.
6因為他專靠耶和華，總不離開，謹守耶和華所吩咐 摩西 的誡命。
7And the LORD was with him: whithersoever he went forth he prospered; and he rebelled against the king of Assyria, and served him not.
7耶和華與他同在，他無論往何處去盡都亨通。他背叛、不肯事奉 亞述 王。
8He smote the Philistines unto Gaza and the borders thereof, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified city.
8希西家 攻擊 非利士 人，直到 迦薩 ，並 迦薩 的四境，從瞭望樓到堅固城。
9And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria, and besieged it.
9希西家 王第四年，就是 以色列 王 以拉 的兒子 何細亞 第七年， 亞述 王 撒縵以色 上來圍困 撒馬利亞 ；
10And at the end of three years they took it; even in the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken.
10過了三年就攻取了城。 希西家 第六年， 以色列 王 何細亞 第九年， 撒馬利亞 被攻取了。
11And the king of Assyria carried Israel away unto Assyria, and put them in Halah, and in Habor, on the river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes;
11亞述 王將 以色列 人擄到 亞述 ，把他們安置在 哈臘 與 歌散 的 哈博河 邊，並 米底亞 人的城邑；
12because they hearkened not to the voice of the LORD their God, but transgressed His covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the LORD commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it.
12都因他們不聽從耶和華－他們上帝的話，違背他的約，就是耶和華僕人 摩西 吩咐他們所當守的。
13Now in the fourteenth year of king Hezekiah did Sennacherib king of Assyria come up against all the fortified cities of Judah, and took them.
13希西家 王十四年， 亞述 王 西拿基立 上來攻擊 猶大 的一切堅固城，將城攻取。
14And Hezekiah king of Judah sent to the king of Assyria to Lachish, saying: 'I have offended; return from me; that which thou puttest on me will I bear.' And the king of Assyria appointed unto Hezekiah king of Judah three hundred talents of silver and thirty talents of gold.
14猶大 王 希西家 差人往 拉吉 去見 亞述 王，說：「我有罪了，求你離開我；凡你罰我的，我必承當。」於是 亞述 王罰 猶大 王 希西家 銀子三百他連得，金子三十他連得。
15And Hezekiah gave him all the silver that was found in the house of the LORD, and in the treasures of the king's house.
15希西家 就把耶和華殿裏和王宮府庫裏所有的銀子都給了 他 。
16At that time did Hezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of the LORD, and from the door-posts which Hezekiah king of Judah had overlaid, and gave it to the king of Assyria.
16那時， 猶大 王 希西家 將耶和華殿門上的 金子 和他自己包在柱上的 金子 都刮下來，給了 亞述 王。
17And the king of Assyria sent Tartan and Rab-saris and Rab-shakeh from Lachish to king Hezekiah with a great army unto Jerusalem. And they went up and came to Jerusalem. And when they were come up, they came and stood by the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highway of the fullers' field.
17亞述 王從 拉吉 差遣他珥探、拉伯撒利，和拉伯沙基率領大軍往 耶路撒冷 ，到 希西家 王那裏去。他們上到 耶路撒冷 ，就站在上池的水溝旁，在漂布地的大路上。
18And when they had called to the king, there came out to them Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder.
18他們呼叫王的時候，就有 希勒家 的兒子家宰 以利亞敬 ，並書記 舍伯那 和 亞薩 的兒子史官 約亞 ，出來見他們。
19And Rab-shakeh said unto them: 'Say ye now to Hezekiah: Thus saith the great king, the king of Assyria: What confidence is this wherein thou trustest?
19拉伯沙基說：「你們去告訴 希西家 說， 亞述 大王如此說：『你所倚靠的有甚麼可仗賴的呢？
20Sayest thou that a mere word of the lips is counsel and strength for the war? Now on whom dost thou trust, that thou hast rebelled against me?
20你說有打仗的計謀和能力， 我看 不過是虛話。你到底倚靠誰才背叛我呢？
21Now, behold, thou trustest upon the staff of this bruised reed, even upon Egypt; whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it; so is Pharaoh king of Egypt unto all that trust on him.
21看哪，你所倚靠的 埃及 是那壓傷的葦杖；人若靠這杖，就必刺透他的手。 埃及 王法老向一切倚靠他的人也是這樣。
22But if ye say unto me: We trust in the LORD our God; is not that He, whose high places and whose altars Hezekiah hath taken away, and hath said to Judah and to Jerusalem: Ye shall worship before this altar in Jerusalem?
22你們若對我說：我們倚靠耶和華－我們的上帝， 希西家 豈不是將上帝的邱壇和祭壇廢去，且對 猶大 和 耶路撒冷 的人說：你們當在 耶路撒冷 這壇前敬拜嗎？
23Now therefore, I pray thee, make a wager with my master the king of Assyria, and I will give thee two thousand horses, if thou be able on thy part to set riders upon them.
23現在你把當頭給我主 亞述 王，我給你二千匹馬，看你這一面騎馬的人夠不夠。
24How then canst thou turn away the face of one captain, even of the least of my masters servants? and yet thou puttest thy trust on Egypt for chariots and for horsemen!
24若不然，怎能打敗我主臣僕中最小的軍長呢？你竟倚靠 埃及 的戰車馬兵嗎？
25Am I now come up without the LORD against this place to destroy it? The LORD said unto me: Go up against this land, destroy it.'
25現在我上來攻擊毀滅這地，豈沒有耶和華的意思嗎？耶和華吩咐我說：你上去攻擊毀滅這地吧！』」
26Then said Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, and Shebnah, and Joah, unto Rab-shakeh: 'Speak, I pray thee, to thy servants in the Aramean language; for we understand it; and speak not with us in the Jews' language, in the ears of the people that are on the wall.'
26希勒家 的兒子 以利亞敬 和 舍伯那 ，並 約亞 ，對拉伯沙基說：「求你用 亞蘭 言語和僕人說話，因為我們懂得；不要用 猶大 言語和我們說話，達到城上百姓的耳中。」
27But Rab-shakeh said unto them: 'Hath my master sent me to thy master, and to thee, to speak these words? hath he not sent me to the men that sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with you?'
27拉伯沙基說：「我主差遣我來，豈是單對你和你的主說這些話嗎？不也是對這些坐在城上、要與你們一同吃自己糞、喝自己尿的人說嗎？」
28Then Rab-shakeh stood, and cried with a loud voice in the Jews' language, and spoke, saying: 'Hear ye the word of the great king, the king of Assyria.
28於是拉伯沙基站着，用 猶大 言語大聲喊着說：「你們當聽 亞述 大王的話！
29Thus saith the king: Let not Hezekiah beguile you; for he will not be able to deliver you out of his hand;
29王如此說：『你們不要被 希西家 欺哄了；因他不能救你們脫離我的手。
30neither let Hezekiah make you trust in the LORD, saying: The LORD will surely deliver us, and this city shall not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.
30也不要聽 希西家 使你們倚靠耶和華，說耶和華必要拯救我們，這城必不交在 亞述 王的手中。』
31Hearken not to Hezekiah; for thus saith the king of Assyria: Make your peace with me, and come out to me; and eat ye every one of his vine, and every one of his fig-tree, and drink ye every one the waters of his own cistern;
31不要聽 希西家 的話！因 亞述 王如此說：『你們要與我和好，出來投降我，各人就可以吃自己葡萄樹和無花果樹的果子，喝自己井裏的水。
32until I come and take you away to a land like your own land, a land of corn and wine, a land of bread and vineyards, a land of olive-trees and of honey, that ye may live, and not die; and hearken not unto Hezekiah, when he persuadeth you, saying: The LORD will deliver us.
32等我來領你們到一個地方與你們本地一樣，就是有五穀和新酒之地，有糧食和葡萄園之地，有橄欖樹和蜂蜜之地，好使你們存活，不至於死。 希西家 勸導你們，說耶和華必拯救我們；你們不要聽他的話。
33Hath any of the gods of the nations ever delivered his land out of the hand of the king of Assyria?
33列國的神有哪一個救他本國脫離 亞述 王的手呢？
34Where are the gods of Hamath, and of Arpad? where are the gods of Sepharvaim, of Hena, and Ivvah? have they delivered Samaria out of my hand?
34哈馬 、 亞珥拔 的神在哪裏呢？ 西法瓦音 、 希拿 、 以瓦 的神在哪裏呢？他們曾救 撒馬利亞 脫離我的手嗎？
35Who are they among all the gods of the countries, that have delivered their country out of my hand, that the LORD should deliver Jerusalem out of my hand?'
35這些國的神有誰曾救自己的國脫離我的手呢？難道耶和華能救 耶路撒冷 脫離我的手嗎？』」
36But the people held their peace, and answered him not a word; for the king's commandment was, saying: 'Answer him not.'
36百姓靜默不言，並不回答一句，因為王曾吩咐說：「不要回答他。」
37Then came Eliakim the son of Hilkiah, who was over the household, and Shebna the scribe, and Joah the son of Asaph the recorder, to Hezekiah with their clothes rent, and told him the words of Rab-shakeh.
37當下， 希勒家 的兒子家宰 以利亞敬 和書記 舍伯那 ，並 亞薩 的兒子史官 約亞 ，都撕裂衣服，來到 希西家 那裏，將拉伯沙基的話告訴了他。
