1Now Ahab had seventy sons in Samaria. And Jehu wrote letters, and sent to Samaria, unto the rulers of Jezreel, even the elders, and unto them that brought up the sons of Ahab, saying:
1亞哈 有七十個兒子在 撒馬利亞 。 耶戶 寫信送到 撒馬利亞 ，通知 耶斯列 的首領，就是長老和教養 亞哈 眾子 的人，說：
2'And now as soon as this letter cometh to you, seeing your master's sons are with you, and there are with you chariots and horses, fortified cities also, and armour;
2「你們那裏既有你們主人的眾子和車馬、器械、堅固城，
3look ye out the best and meetest of your master's sons, and set him on his father's throne, and fight for your master's house.'
3接了這信，就可以在你們主人的眾子中選擇一個賢能合宜的，使他坐他父親的位，你們也可以為你們主人的家爭戰。」
4But they were exceedingly afraid, and said: 'Behold, the two kings stood not before him; how then shall we stand?'
4他們卻甚懼怕，彼此說：「二王在他面前尚且站立不住，我們怎能站得住呢？」
5And he that was over the household, and he that was over the city, the elders also, and they that brought up the children, sent to Jehu, saying: 'We are thy servants, and will do all that thou shalt bid us; we will not make any man king; do thou that which is good in thine eyes.'
5家宰、邑宰，和長老，並教養 眾子 的人，打發人去見 耶戶 ，說：「我們是你的僕人，凡你所吩咐我們的都必遵行，我們不立誰作王，你看怎樣好就怎樣行。」
6Then he wrote a letter the second time to them, saying: 'If ye be on my side, and if ye will hearken unto my voice, take ye the heads of the men your master's sons, and come to me to Jezreel by to-morrow this time.' Now the king's sons, being seventy persons, were with the great men of the city, who brought them up.
6耶戶 又給他們寫信說：「你們若歸順我，聽從我的話，明日這時候，要將你們主人眾子的首級帶到 耶斯列 來見我。」那時王的兒子七十人都住在教養他們那城中的尊貴人家裏。
7And it came to pass, when the letter came to them, that they took the king's sons, and slew them, even seventy persons, and put their heads in baskets, and sent them unto him to Jezreel.
7信一到，他們就把王的七十個兒子殺了，將首級裝在筐裏，送到在 耶斯列 的 耶戶 那裏。
8And there came a messenger, and told him, saying: 'They have brought the heads of the king's sons.' And he said: 'Lay ye them in two heaps at the entrance of the gate until the morning.'
8有使者來告訴 耶戶 說：「他們將王眾子的首級送來了。」 耶戶 說：「將首級在城門口堆作兩堆，擱到明日。」
9And it came to pass in the morning, that he went out, and stood, and said to all the people: 'Ye are righteous; behold, I conspired against my master, and slew him; but who smote all these?
9次日早晨， 耶戶 出來，站着對眾民說：「你們都是公義的，我背叛我主人，將他殺了；這些人卻是誰殺的呢？
10Know now that there shall fall unto the earth nothing of the word of the LORD, which the LORD spoke concerning the house of Ahab; for the LORD hath done that which He spoke by His servant Elijah.'
10由此可知，耶和華指着 亞哈 家所說的話一句沒有落空，因為耶和華藉他僕人 以利亞 所說的話都成就了。」
11So Jehu smote all that remained of the house of Ahab in Jezreel, and all his great men, and his familiar friends, and his priests, until there was left him none remaining.
11凡 亞哈 家在 耶斯列 所剩下的人和他的大臣、密友、祭司， 耶戶 盡都殺了，沒有留下一個。
12And he arose and departed, and went to Samaria. And as he was at the shearing-house of the shepherds in the way,
12耶戶 起身往 撒馬利亞 去。在路上、牧人剪羊毛之處，
13Jehu met with the brethren of Ahaziah king of Judah, and said: 'Who are ye?' And they answered: 'We are the brethren of Ahaziah; and we go down to salute the children of the king and the children of the queen.'
13遇見 猶大 王 亞哈謝 的弟兄，問他們說：「你們是誰？」回答說：「我們是 亞哈謝 的弟兄，現在下去要問王和太后的眾子安。」
14And he said: 'Take them alive.' And they took them alive, and slew them at the pit of the shearing-house, even two and forty men; neither left he any of them.
14耶戶 吩咐說：「活捉他們！」跟從的人就活捉了他們，將他們殺在剪羊毛之處的坑邊，共四十二人，沒有留下一個。
15And when he was departed thence, he lighted on Jehonadab the son of Rechab coming to meet him; and he saluted him, and said to him: 'Is thy heart right, as my heart is with thy heart?' And Jehonadab answered: 'It is.' 'If it be, said Jehu, give me thy hand.' And he gave him his hand; and he took him up to him into the chariot.
15耶戶 從那裏前行，恰遇 利甲 的兒子 約拿達 來迎接他， 耶戶 問他安，對他說：「你誠心待我像我誠心待你嗎？」 約拿達 回答說：「是。」 耶戶 說：「若是這樣，你向我伸手」，他就伸手； 耶戶 拉他上車。
16And he said: 'Come with me, and see my zeal for the LORD.' So they made him ride in his chariot.
16耶戶 說：「你和我同去，看我為耶和華怎樣熱心」；於是請他坐在車上，
17And when he came to Samaria, he smote all that remained unto Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed him, according to the word of the LORD, which He spoke to Elijah.
17到了 撒馬利亞 ，就把 撒馬利亞 的 亞哈 家剩下的人都殺了，直到滅盡，正如耶和華對 以利亞 所說的。
18And Jehu gathered all the people together, and said unto them: 'Ahab served Baal a little; but Jehu will serve him much.
18耶戶 招聚眾民，對他們說：「 亞哈 事奉 巴力 還冷淡， 耶戶 卻更熱心。
19Now therefore call unto me all the prophets of Baal, all his worshippers, and all his priests, let none be wanting; for I have a great sacrifice to do to Baal; whosoever shall be wanting, he shall not live.' But Jehu did it in subtlety, to the intent that he might destroy the worshippers of Baal.
19現在我要給 巴力 獻大祭。應當叫 巴力 的眾先知和一切拜 巴力 的人，並 巴力 的眾祭司，都到我這裏來，不可缺少一個；凡不來的必不得活。」 耶戶 這樣行，是用詭計要殺盡拜 巴力 的人。
20And Jehu said: 'Sanctify a solemn assembly for Baal.' And they proclaimed it.
20耶戶 說：「要為 巴力 宣告嚴肅會！」於是宣告了。
21And Jehu sent through all Israel; and all the worshippers of Baal came, so that there was not a man left that came not. And they came into the house of Baal; and the house of Baal was filled from one end to another.
21耶戶 差人走遍 以色列 地；凡拜 巴力 的人都來齊了，沒有一個不來的。他們進了 巴力 廟， 巴力 廟中從前邊直到後邊都滿了人。
22And he said unto him that was over the vestry: 'Bring forth vestments for all the worshippers of Baal.' And he brought them forth vestments.
22耶戶 吩咐掌管禮服的人說：「拿出禮服來，給一切拜 巴力 的人穿。」他就拿出禮服來給了他們。
23And Jehu went, and Jehonadab the son of Rechab, into the house of Baal; and he said unto the worshippers of Baal: 'Search, and look that there be here with you none of the servants of the LORD, but the worshippers of Baal only.'
23耶戶 和 利甲 的兒子 約拿達 進了 巴力 廟，對拜 巴力 的人說：「你們察看察看，在你們這裏不可有耶和華的僕人，只可容留拜 巴力 的人。」
24And they went in to offer sacrifices and burnt-offerings. Now Jehu had appointed him fourscore men without, and said: 'If any of the men whom I bring into your hands escape, his life shall be for the life of him.'
24耶戶 和 約拿達 進去，獻 平安 祭和燔祭。 耶戶 先安派八十人在廟外，吩咐說：「我將這些人交在你們手中，若有一人脫逃， 誰放的 必叫他償命！」
25And it came to pass, as soon as he had made an end of offering the burnt-offering, that Jehu said to the guard and to the captains: 'Go in, and slay them; let none come forth.' And they smote them with the edge of the sword; and the guard and the captains cast them out, and went to the city of the house of Baal.
25耶戶 獻完了燔祭，就 出來 吩咐護衛兵和眾軍長說：「你們進去殺他們，不容一人出來！」護衛兵和軍長就用刀殺他們，將屍首拋出去，便到 巴力 廟的城去了，
26And they brought forth the pillars that were in the house of Baal, and burned them.
26將 巴力 廟中的柱像都拿出來燒了；
27And they broke down the pillar of Baal, and broke down the house of Baal, and made it a draught-house, unto this day.
27毀壞了 巴力 柱像，拆毀了 巴力 廟作為廁所，直到今日。
28Thus Jehu destroyed Baal out of Israel.
28這樣， 耶戶 在 以色列 中滅了 巴力 。
29Howbeit from the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, wherewith he made Israel to sin, Jehu departed not from after them, the golden calves that were in Beth-el, and that were in Dan.
29只是 耶戶 不離開 尼八 的兒子 耶羅波安 使 以色列 人陷在罪裏的那罪，就是拜 伯特利 和 但 的金牛犢。
30And the LORD said unto Jehu: 'Because thou hast done well in executing that which is right in Mine eyes, and hast done unto the house of Ahab according to all that was in My heart, thy sons of the fourth generation shall sit on the throne of Israel.'
30耶和華對 耶戶 說：「因你辦好我眼中看為正的事，照我的心意待 亞哈 家，你的子孫必接續你坐 以色列 的國位，直到四代。」
31But Jehu took no heed to walk in the law of the LORD, the God of Israel, with all his heart; he departed not from the sins of Jeroboam, wherewith he made Israel to sin.
31只是 耶戶 不盡心遵守耶和華－ 以色列 上帝的律法，不離開 耶羅波安 使 以色列 人陷在罪裏的那罪。
32In those days the LORD began to cut Israel short; and Hazael smote them in all the borders of Israel:
32在那些日子，耶和華才割裂 以色列 國，使 哈薛 攻擊 以色列 的境界，
33from the Jordan eastward, all the land of Gilead, the Gadites, and the Reubenites, and the Manassites, from Aroer, which is by the valley of Arnon, even Gilead and Bashan.
33乃是 約旦河 東、 基列 全地，從靠近 亞嫩谷 邊的 亞羅珥 起，就是 基列 和 巴珊 的 迦得 人、 呂便 人、 瑪拿西 人之地。
34Now the rest of the acts of Jehu, and all that he did, and all his might, are they not written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of Israel?
34耶戶 其餘的事，凡他所行的和他的勇力都寫在 以色列 諸王記上。
35And Jehu slept with his fathers; and they buried him in Samaria. And Jehoahaz his son reigned in his stead.
35耶戶 與他列祖同睡，葬在 撒馬利亞 ；他兒子 約哈斯 接續他作王。
36And the time that Jehu reigned over Israel in Samaria was twenty and eight years.
36耶戶 在 撒馬利亞 作 以色列 王二十八年。
