1And the ark of the LORD was in the country of the Philistines seven months.
1耶和华的 约 柜在 非利士 人之地七个月。
2And the Philistines called for the priests and the diviners, saying: 'What shall we do with the ark of the LORD? declare unto us wherewith we shall send it to its place.'
2非利士 人将祭司和占卜的聚了来，问他们说：「我们向耶和华的 约 柜应当怎样行？请指示我们用何法将 约 柜送回原处。」
3And they said: 'If ye send away the ark of the God of Israel, send it not empty; but in any wise return Him a guilt-offering; then ye shall be healed, and it shall be known to you why His hand is not removed from you.'
3他们说：「若要将 以色列 神的 约 柜送回去，不可空空地送去，必要给他献赔罪的礼物，然后你们可得痊愈，并知道他的手为何不离开你们。」
4Then said they: 'What shall be the guilt-offering which we shall return to Him?' And they said: 'Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the lords of the Philistines; for one plague was on you all, and on your lords.
4非利士 人说：「应当用什么献为赔罪的礼物呢？」他们回答说：「当照 非利士 首领的数目，用五个金痔疮，五个金老鼠，因为在你们众人和你们首领的身上都是一样的灾。
5Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel; peradventure He will lighten His hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
5所以当制造你们痔疮的像和毁坏你们田地老鼠的像，并要归荣耀给 以色列 的 神，或者他向你们和你们的神，并你们的田地，把手放轻些。
6Wherefore then do ye harden your hearts, as the Egyptians and Pharaoh hardened their hearts? when He had wrought among them, did they not let the people go, and they departed?
6你们为何硬着心像 埃及 人和法老一样呢？ 神在 埃及 人中间行奇事， 埃及 人岂不释放 以色列 人，他们就去了吗？
7Now therefore take and prepare you a new cart, and two milch kine, on which there hath come no yoke, and tie the kine to the cart, and bring their calves home from them.
7现在你们应当造一辆新车，将两只未曾负轭有乳的母牛套在车上，使牛犊回家去，离开母牛。
8And take the ark of the LORD, and lay it upon the cart; and put the jewels of gold, which ye return Him for a guilt-offering, in a coffer by the side thereof; and send it away, that it may go.
8把耶和华的 约 柜放在车上，将所献赔罪的金物装在匣子里，放在柜旁，将柜送去。
9And see, if it goeth up by the way of its own border to Beth-shemesh, then He hath done us this great evil; but if not, then we shall know that it is not His hand that smote us; it was a chance that happened to us.'
9你们要看看：车若直行 以色列 的境界到 伯·示麦 去，这大灾就是耶和华降在我们身上的；若不然，便可以知道不是他的手击打我们，是我们偶然遇见的。」
10And the men did so; and took two milch kine, and tied them to the cart, and shut up their calves at home.
10非利士 人就这样行：将两只有乳的母牛套在车上，将牛犊关在家里，
11And they put the ark of the LORD upon the cart, and the coffer with the mice of gold and the images of their emerods.
11把耶和华的 约 柜和装金老鼠并金痔疮像的匣子都放在车上。
12And the kine took the straight way by the way to Beth-shemesh; they went along the highway, lowing as they went, and turned not aside to the right hand or to the left; and the lords of the Philistines went after them unto the border of Beth-shemesh.
12牛直行大道，往 伯·示麦 去，一面走一面叫，不偏左右。 非利士 的首领跟在后面，直到 伯·示麦 的境界。
13And they of Beth-shemesh were reaping their wheat harvest in the valley; and they lifted up their eyes, and saw the ark, and rejoiced to see it.
13伯·示麦 人正在平原收割麦子，举目看见 约 柜，就欢喜了。
14And the cart came into the field of Joshua the Beth-shemite, and stood there, where there was a great stone; and they cleaved the wood of the cart, and offered up the kine for a burnt-offering unto the LORD.
14车到了 伯·示麦 人 约书亚 的田间，就站住了。在那里有一块大磐石，他们把车劈了，将两只母牛献给耶和华为燔祭。
15And the Levites took down the ark of the LORD, and the coffer that was with it, wherein the jewels of gold were, and put them on the great stone; and the men of Beth-shemesh offered burnt-offerings and sacrificed sacrifices the same day unto the LORD.
15利未 人将耶和华的 约 柜和装金物的匣子拿下来，放在大磐石上。当日 伯·示麦 人将燔祭和 平安 祭献给耶和华。
16And when the five lords of the Philistines had seen it, they returned to Ekron the same day.
16非利士 人的五个首领看见，当日就回 以革伦 去了。
17And these are the golden emerods which the Philistines returned for a guilt-offering unto the LORD: for Ashdod one, for Gaza one, for Ashkelon one, for Gath one, for Ekron one;
17非利士 人献给耶和华作赔罪的金痔疮像，就是这些：一个是为 亚实突 ，一个是为 迦萨 ，一个是为 亚实基伦 ，一个是为 迦特 ，一个是为 以革伦 。
18and the golden mice, according to the number of all the cities of the Philistines belonging to the five lords, both of fortified cities and of country villages, even unto Abel by the great stone, whereon they set down the ark of the LORD, which stone remaineth unto this day in the field of Joshua the Beth-shemite.
18金老鼠的数目是照 非利士 五个首领的城邑，就是坚固的城邑和乡村，以及大磐石。这磐石是放耶和华 约 柜的，到今日还在 伯·示麦 人 约书亚 的田间。
19And He smote of the men of Beth-shemesh, because they had gazed upon the ark of the LORD, even He smote of the people seventy men, and fifty thousand men; and the people mourned, because the LORD had smitten the people with a great slaughter.
19耶和华因 伯·示麦 人擅观他的 约 柜，就击杀了他们七十人；那时有五万人在那里。百姓因耶和华大大击杀他们，就哀哭了。
20And the men of Beth-shemesh said: 'Who is able to stand before the LORD, this holy God? and to whom shall it go up from us?'
20伯·示麦 人说：「谁能在耶和华这圣洁的 神面前侍立呢？这 约 柜可以从我们这里送到谁那里去呢？」
21And they sent messengers to the inhabitants of Kiriath-jearim, saying: 'The Philistines have brought back the ark of the LORD; come ye down, and fetch it up to you.'
21于是打发人去见 基列·耶琳 的居民，说：「 非利士 人将耶和华的 约 柜送回来了，你们下来将 约 柜接到你们那里去吧！」
