1Sed pri la tempoj kaj okazoj, fratoj, vi ne bezonas, ke oni skribu al vi.
1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2Ĉar vi mem tute bone scias, ke la tago de la Sinjoro venas, kiel ŝtelisto en la nokto.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3Dum oni diras: Paco kaj sendanĝereco, tiam subita detruo venas sur ilin, kiel naskodoloro al gravedulino, kaj ili tute ne forsaviĝos.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4Sed vi, fratoj, ne estas en mallumo tiel, ke tiu tago vin trafus kiel ŝtelisto;
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5ĉar vi ĉiuj estas filoj de lumo kaj filoj de la tago; ni ne estas el la nokto, nek el mallumo;
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6tial ni ne dormu, kiel la ceteraj, sed ni viglu kaj estu sobraj.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7Ĉar kiuj dormas, tiuj dormas en la nokto; kaj kiuj ebriiĝas, tiuj ebriiĝas en la nokto.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8Sed ĉar ni estas el la tago, ni estu sobraj, surmetante la kirason de fido kaj amo, kaj, kiel kaskon, la esperon de savo.
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9Ĉar Dio nin destinis ne al kolero, sed al la ricevo de savado per nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo,
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10kiu mortis por ni, por ke ni vivu kune kun li, ĉu ni maldormos aŭ dormos.
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11Tial admonu vin reciproke kaj edifu unu la alian, kiel ankaŭ vi jam faradas.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
12Sed ni petegas vin, fratoj, koni tiujn, kiuj laboras ĉe vi kaj estras ĉe vi en la Sinjoro kaj vin admonas,
12And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13kaj estimi ilin treege kun amo pro ilia laboro. Estu pacemaj unu kun la alia.
13And to esteem them very highly in love for their work’s sake. And be at peace among yourselves.
14Kaj ni petas vin, fratoj, admonu la senordulojn, kuraĝigu la nebravulojn, subtenu la malfortulojn, estu paciencaj kontraŭ ĉiuj.
14Now we exhort you, brethren, warn them that are unruly, comfort the feebleminded, support the weak, be patient toward all men .
15Zorgu, ke neniu redonu al iu malbonon por malbono; sed ĉiam sekvu tion, kio estas bona, unu por alia kaj por ĉiuj.
15See that none render evil for evil unto any man ; but ever follow that which is good, both among yourselves, and to all men .
16Ĝoju ĉiam;
16Rejoice evermore.
17preĝu senĉese;
17Pray without ceasing.
18pri ĉio donu dankon; ĉar tia estas la volo de Dio en Kristo Jesuo pri vi.
18In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.
19Ne estingu la Spiriton;
19Quench not the Spirit.
20ne malestimu profetaĵojn;
20Despise not prophesyings.
21elprovu ĉion; tenu firme tion, kio estas bona;
21Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.
22detenu vin de ĉia formo de malbono.
22Abstain from all appearance of evil.
23Kaj la Dio de paco vin sanktigu tute; kaj via spirito kaj animo kaj korpo estu plene konservitaj sen kulpo, ĉe la alveno de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo.
23And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
24Fidela estas Tiu, kiu vin vokas, kiu ankaŭ faros.
24Faithful is he that calleth you, who also will do it.
25Fratoj, preĝu por ni.
25Brethren, pray for us.
26Salutu ĉiujn fratojn per sankta kiso.
26Greet all the brethren with an holy kiss.
27Mi solene petegas vin per la Sinjoro, ke oni legu ĉi tiun epistolon antaŭ la tuta frataro.
27I charge you by the Lord that this epistle be read unto all the holy brethren.
28La graco de nia Sinjoro Jesuo Kristo estu kun vi.
28The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.
