1And all Israel was numbered: and the sum of them was written in the book of the kings of Israel, and Juda: and they were carried away to Babylon for their transgression.
1Zo stond de gehele bevolking van Israël ingeschreven in de familieregisters, die opgenomen werden in het boek van de koningen van Israël. De Judeërs werden later om hun afval naar Babel verbannen.
2Now the first that dwelt in their possessions, and in their cities, were the Israelites, and the priests, and the Levites, and the Nathineans.
2De vroegere bewoners, die zich toen weer op hun bezittingen in de steden vestigden, waren: de gewone Israëlieten, de priesters, de levieten en de tempelknechten.
3And in Jerusalem dwelt of the children of Juda, and of the children of Benjamin, and of the children of Ephraim, and of Manasses.
3In Jerusalem woonden nu afstammelingen van Juda, Benjamin, Efraïm en Manasse.
4Othei the son of Ammiud, the son of Amri, the son of Omrai, the son of Bonni, of the sons of Phares the son of Juda.
4De volgende Judeërs: Oetai, zoon van Ammihoed, den zoon van Omri, zoon van Imri, zoon van Bani, een afstammeling van Fáres, den zoon van Juda.
5And of Siloni: Asaia the firstborn, and his sons.
5Verder enige afstammelingen van Sjilo: namelijk Asaja de oudste, met zijn zonen.
6And of the sons of Zara: Jehuel, and their brethren, six hundred and ninety.
6Ook enige afstammelingen van Zára; namelijk Jeoeël met zijn stamgenoten. In het geheel zeshonderd negentig man.
7And of the sons of Benjamin: Sale the son of Mosollam, the son of Oduia, the son of Asana:
7Bovendien de volgende Benjamieten: Salloe, de zoon van Mesjoellam, den zoon van Hodawja, zoon van Hassenoea;
8And Jobania the son of Jeroham: and Ela the son of Ozi, the son of Mochori: and Mosallam the son of Saphatias, the son of Rahuel, the son of Jebania:
8Jibneja, de zoon van Jerocham; Ela, de zoon van Oezzi, den zoon van Mikri; en Mesjoellam, de zoon van Sjefatja, den zoon van Reoeël, zoon van Jibneja.
9And their brethren by their families, nine hundred and fifty-six. All these were heads of their families, by the houses of their fathers.
9Met hun stamgenoten naar hun geslachten telden ze negenhonderd zes en vijftig man. Deze mannen waren allen familiehoofden.
10And of the priests: Jedaia, Joiarib, and Jachin:
10De volgende priesters: Jedaja, Jehojarib, Jakin.
11And Azarias the son of Helcias, the son of Mosollam, the son of Sadoc, the son of Maraioth, the son of Achitob, high priest of the house of God.
11Verder Azarja, de zoon van Chilki-ja, den zoon van Mesjoellam, zoon van Sadok, zoon van Merajot, zoon van Achitoeb; deze was de opzichter van het Godshuis.
12And Adaias the son of Jeroham, the son of Phassur, the son of Melchias, and Maasai the son of Adiel, the son of Jezra, the son of Mosollam, the son of Mosollamith, the son of Emmer.
12Verder nog Adaja, de zoon van Jerocham, den zoon van Pasjchoer, zoon van Malki-ja; en Masai, de zoon van Adiël, den zoon van Jachzéra, zoon van Mesjoellam, zoon van Mesjillemot, zoon van Immer.
13And their brethren heads in their families a thousand seven hundred and threescore, very strong and able men for the work of the ministry in the house of God.
13Tezamen met hun stamgenoten, die familiehoofden waren. vormden ze een groep van zeventienhonderd zestig mannen, geschikt voor het dienstwerk in het Godshuis.
14And of the Levites: Semeia the son of Hassub the son of Ezricam, the son of Hasebia of the sons of Merari.
14De volgende levieten: Sjemaja, de zoon van Chas-sjoeb, den zoon van Azrikam, zoon van Chasjabja, een afstammeling van Merari.
15And Bacbacar the carpenter, and Galal, and Mathania the son of Micha, the son of Zechri the son of Asaph:
15Verder Bakbakkar, Chéresj en Galal. Ook Mattanja, de zoon van Mika, den zoon van Zikri, zoon van Asaf.
16And Obdia the son of Semeia, the son of Galal, the son of Idithum: and Barachia the son of Asa, the son of Elcana, who dwelt in the suburbs of Netophati.
16Verder nog Obadja, de zoon van Sjemaja, den zoon van Galal, zoon van Jedoetoen. Ook nog Berekja, de zoon van Asa, den zoon van Elkana, die in de dorpen der Netofatieten woonachtig was.
17And the porters were Sellum, and Accub, and Telmon, and Ahiman: and their brother Sellum was the prince,
17De poortwachters waren Sjalloem, Akkoeb, Talmon en Achiman, met hun verwanten. Sjalloem was hun hoofd;
18Until that time, in the king’s gate eastward, the sons of Levi waited by their turns.
18evenals tot nu had hij zijn standplaats in de koningspoort, aan de oostzijde. Zij waren vroeger de poortwachters in het kamp der levieten.
19But Sellum the son of Core, the son of Abiasaph, the son of Core, with his brethren and his father’s house, the Corites were over the works of the service, keepers of the gates of the tabernacle: and their families in turns were keepers of the entrance of the camp of the Lord.
19Sjalloem, de zoon van Kore, den zoon van Ebjasaf, zoon van Kórach, en zijn verwanten, leden van de familie der Korachieten, deden dienst als drempelwachters van de tent. Want hun voorouders hadden in het kamp van Jahweh de ingang bewaakt;
20And Phinees the son of Eleazar, was their prince before the Lord,
20Pinechas, de zoon van Elazar (moge Jahweh met hem zijn), was vroeger hun hoofd geweest.
21And Zacharias the son of Mosollamia, was porter of the gate of the tabernacle of the testimony:
21Zakarja, de zoon van Mesjelemja, was poortwachter van de openbaringstent.
22All these that were chosen to be porters at the gates, were two hundred and twelve: and they mere registered in their proper towns: whom David and Samuel the seer appointed in their trust.
22Het totale aantal van hen, die uitverkoren waren tot drempelwachters, bedroeg tweehonderd twintig; in hun dorpen stonden ze in het stamregister ingeschreven, en ze werden door David en den profeet Samuël voorgoed in hun ambt bevestigd.
23As well them as their sons, to keep the gates of the house of the Lord, and the tabernacle by their turns.
23Met hun zonen bewaakten zij de poorten van het verblijf van Jahweh, de tabernakel.
24In four quarters were the porters: that is to say, toward the east, and west, and north, and south.
24Ze stonden aan vier zijden op wacht: aan de oostkant, de westkant, de noordkant en de zuidkant
25And their brethren dwelt in villages, and came upon their sabbath days from time to time.
25Hun verwanten uit hun dorpen moesten hen van tijd tot tijd voor zeven dagen behulpzaam zijn;
26To these four Levites were committed the whole number of the porters, and they were over the chambers, and treasures, of the house of the Lord.
26want de vier voornaamste wachters moesten voortdurend op hun post zijn. Deze levieten gingen ook over de cellen en de schatkamers van het Godshuis;
27And they abode in their watches round about the temple of the Lord: that when it was time, they might open the gates in the morning.
27Ze brachten de nacht door in de nabijheid van het Godshuis, omdat zij met de bewaking belast waren, en elke morgen de poorten moesten openen.
28And some of their stock had the charge of the vessels for the ministry: for the vessels were both brought in and carried out by number.
28Anderen moesten voor het benodigde dienstgerei zorgen; een bepaald aantal brachten ze daarvan binnen, en ook weer weg.
29Some of them also had the instruments of the sanctuary committed unto them, and the charge of the fine flour, and wine, and oil, and frankincense, and spices.
29Anderen zorgden voor de gewijde voorwerpen en vaten, alsmede voor de meelbloem, de wijn, de olie, de wierook en de specerijen.
30And the sons of the priests made the ointments of the spices.
30Enige priesterzonen waren de bereiders van de welriekende zalven.
31And Mathathias a Levite, the firstborn of Sellum the Corite, was overseer of such things as were fried in the fryingpan.

32And some of the sons of Caath their brethren, were over the leaves of proposition, to prepare always new for every sabbath.

33These are the chief of the singing men of the families of the Levites, who dwelt in the chambers, by the temple, that they might serve continually day and night in their ministry.
33Dit waren dus de zangers, familiehoofden der levieten, die in de cellen geen dienst behoefden te doen, omdat ze elders dag en nacht bezig waren.
34The heads of the Levites, princes in their families, abode in Jerusalem.

35And in Gabaon dwelt Jehiel the father of Gabaon, and the name of hill wife was Maacha:

36His firstborn son Abdon, and Sur, and Cis, and Baal, and Ner, and Nadab,

37Gedor also, and Ahio, and Zacharias, and Macelloth.

38And Macelloth beget Samaan: these dwelt over against their brethren in Jerusalem, with their brethren.
38Miklot verwekte Sjimam. Ook dezen woonden bij hun stamgenoten in Jerusalem, in hun nabijheid.
39Now Ner beget Cia: and Cis begot Saul: and Saul beget Jonathan and Melchisua, and Abinadab, and Esbaal.
39Ner verwekte Kisj; Kisj verwekte Saul; Saul verwekte Jonatan, Malkisjóea, Abinadab en Esjbáal.
40And the son of Jonathan, was Meribbaal: and Meribbaal beget Micha.
40De zoon van Jonatan was Merib-Báal; Merib-Báal verwekte Mika.
41And the sons of Micha, were Phithon, and Melech, and Tharaa, and Ahaz.
41De zonen van Mika waren Piton, Mélek, Tachréa en Achaz.
42And Ahaz beget Jara, and Jara beget Alamath, and Azmoth, and Zamri. And Zamri beget Mesa.
42Achaz verwekte Jara; Jara verwekte Alémet, Azmáwet en Zimri. Zimri verwekte Mosa;
43And Mesa beget Banaa: whose son Raphaia beget Elasa: of whom was born Asel.
43Mosa verwekte Bina. De zoon van Bina was Refaja; die van Refaja was Elasa; die van Elasa was Asel.
44And heel had six sons whose names are, Ezricam, Bochru, Ismahel, Saria, Obdia, Hanan: these are the sons of Asel.
44Asel had zes kinderen, die aldus heetten: Azrikam, Bokeroe, Jisjmaël, Sjearja, Obadja en Chanan; allen zonen van Asel.
