1拿俄米 的丈夫 以利米勒 的親族中，有一個人名叫 波阿斯 ，是個大財主。
1And Naomi had a kinsman of her husband's, a mighty man of valour, of the family of Elimelech, and his name was Boaz.
2摩押 女子 路得 對 拿俄米 說：「容我往田間去，我蒙誰的恩，就在誰的身後拾取麥穗。」 拿俄米 說：「女兒啊，你只管去。」
2And Ruth the Moabitess said unto Naomi: 'Let me now go to the field, and glean among the ears of corn after him in whose sight I shall find favour.' And she said unto her: 'Go, my daughter.'
3路得 就去了，來到田間，在收割的人身後拾取麥穗。她恰巧到了 以利米勒 本族的人 波阿斯 那塊田裏。
3And she went, and came and gleaned in the field after the reapers; and her hap was to light on the portion of the field belonging unto Boaz, who was of the family of Elimelech.
4波阿斯 正從 伯利恆 來，對收割的人說：「願耶和華與你們同在！」他們回答說：「願耶和華賜福與你！」
4And, behold, Boaz came from Beth-lehem, and said unto the reapers: 'The LORD be with you.' And they answered him: 'The LORD bless thee.'
5波阿斯 問監管收割的僕人說：「那是誰家的女子？」
5Then said Boaz unto his servant that was set over the reapers: 'Whose damsel is this?'
6監管收割的僕人回答說：「是那 摩押 女子，跟隨 拿俄米 從 摩押 地回來的。
6And the servant that was set over the reapers answered and said: 'It is a Moabitish damsel that came back with Naomi out of the field of Moab;
7她說：『請你容我跟着收割的人拾取打捆剩下的麥穗。』她從早晨直到如今，除了在屋子裏坐一會兒，常在這裏。」
7and she said: Let me glean, I pray you, and gather after the reapers among the sheaves; so she came, and hath continued even from the morning until now, save that she tarried a little in the house.'
8波阿斯 對 路得 說：「女兒啊，聽我說，不要往別人田裏拾取麥穗，也不要離開這裏，要常與我使女們在一處。
8Then said Boaz unto Ruth: 'Hearest thou not, my daughter? Go not to glean in another field, neither pass from hence, but abide here fast by my maidens.
9我的僕人在那塊田收割，你就跟着他們去。我已經吩咐僕人不可欺負你；你若渴了，就可以到器皿那裏喝僕人打來的水。」
9Let thine eyes be on the field that they do reap, and go thou after them; have I not charged the young men that they shall not touch thee? and when thou art athirst, go unto the vessels, and drink of that which the young men have drawn.'
10路得 就俯伏在地叩拜，對他說：「我既是外邦人，怎麼蒙你的恩，這樣顧恤我呢？」
10Then she fell on her face, and bowed down to the ground, and said unto him: 'Why have I found favour in thy sight, that thou shouldest take cognizance of me, seeing I am a foreigner?'
11波阿斯 回答說：「自從你丈夫死後，凡你向婆婆所行的，並你離開父母和本地，到素不認識的民中，這些事人全都告訴我了。
11And Boaz answered and said unto her: 'It hath fully been told me, all that thou hast done unto thy mother-in-law since the death of thy husband; and how thou hast left thy father and thy mother, and the land of thy nativity, and art come unto a people that thou knewest not heretofore.
12願耶和華照你所行的賞賜你。你來投靠耶和華－ 以色列 上帝的翅膀下，願你滿得他的賞賜。」
12The LORD recompense thy work, and be thy reward complete from the LORD, the God of Israel, under whose wings thou art come to take refuge.'
13路得 說：「我主啊，願在你眼前蒙恩。我雖然不及你的一個使女，你還用慈愛的話安慰我的心。」
13Then she said: 'Let me find favour in thy sight, my LORD; for that thou hast comforted me, and for that thou hast spoken to the heart of thy handmaid, though I be not as one of thy handmaidens.'
14到了吃飯的時候， 波阿斯 對 路得 說：「你到這裏來吃餅，將餅蘸在醋裏。」 路得 就在收割的人旁邊坐下；他們把烘了的穗子遞給她。她吃飽了，還有餘剩的。
14And Boaz said unto her at meal-time: 'Come hither, and eat of the bread, and dip thy morsel in the vinegar.' And she sat beside the reapers; and they reached her parched corn, and she did eat and was satisfied, and left thereof.
15她起來又拾取麥穗， 波阿斯 吩咐僕人說：「她就是在捆中拾取麥穗，也可以容她，不可羞辱她；
15And when she was risen up to glean, Boaz commanded his young men, saying: 'Let her glean even among the sheaves, and put her not to shame.
16並要從捆裏抽出些來，留在地下任她拾取，不可叱嚇她。」
16And also pull out some for her of purpose from the bundles, and leave it, and let her glean, and rebuke her not.'
17這樣， 路得 在田間拾取麥穗，直到晚上，將所拾取的打了，約有一伊法大麥。
17So she gleaned in the field until even; and she beat out that which she had gleaned, and it was about an ephah of barley.
18她就把所拾取的帶進城去給婆婆看，又把她吃飽了所剩的給了婆婆。
18And she took it up, and went into the city; and her mother-in-law saw what she had gleaned; and she brought forth and gave to her that which she had left after she was satisfied.
19婆婆問她說：「你今日在哪裏拾取麥穗，在哪裏做工呢？願那顧恤你的得福。」 路得 就告訴婆婆說：「我今日在一個名叫 波阿斯 的人那裏做工。」
19And her mother-in-law said unto her: 'Where hast thou gleaned to-day? and where wroughtest thou? blessed be he that did take knowledge of thee.' And she told her mother-in-law with whom she had wrought, and said: 'The man's name with whom I wrought to-day is Boaz.'
20拿俄米 對兒婦說：「願那人蒙耶和華賜福，因為他不斷地恩待活人死人。」 拿俄米 又說：「那是我們本族的人，是一個至近的親屬。」
20And Naomi said unto her daughter-in-law: 'Blessed be he of the LORD, who hath not left off His kindness to the living and to the dead.' And Naomi said unto her: 'The man is nigh of kin unto us, one of our near kinsmen.'
21摩押 女子 路得 說：「他對我說：『你要緊隨我的僕人 拾取麥穗 ，直等他們收完了我的莊稼。』」
21And Ruth the Moabitess said: 'Yea, he said unto me: Thou shalt keep fast by my young men, until they have ended all my harvest.'
22拿俄米 對兒婦 路得 說：「女兒啊，你跟着他的使女出去，不叫人遇見你在別人田間，這才為好。」
22And Naomi said unto Ruth her daughter-in-law: 'It is good, my daughter, that thou go out with his maidens, and that thou be not met in any other field.'
23於是 路得 與 波阿斯 的使女常在一處拾取麥穗，直到收完了大麥和小麥。 路得 仍與婆婆同住。
23So she kept fast by the maidens of Boaz to glean unto the end of barley harvest and of wheat harvest; and she dwelt with her mother-in-law.
