1眾百姓發怨言，他們的惡語達到耶和華的耳中。耶和華聽見了就怒氣發作，使火在他們中間焚燒，直燒到營的邊界。
1And the people were as murmurers, speaking evil in the ears of the LORD; and when the LORD heard it, His anger was kindled; and the fire of the LORD burnt among them, and devoured in the uttermost part of the camp.
2百姓向 摩西 哀求， 摩西 祈求耶和華，火就熄了。
2And the people cried unto Moses; and Moses prayed unto the LORD, and the fire abated.
3那地方便叫做 他備拉 ，因為耶和華的火燒在他們中間。
3And the name of that place was called Taberah, because the fire of the LORD burnt among them.
4他們中間的閒雜人大起貪慾的心； 以色列 人又哭號說：「誰給我們肉吃呢？
4And the mixed multitude that was among them fell a lusting; and the children of Israel also wept on their part, and said: 'Would that we were given flesh to eat!
5我們記得，在 埃及 的時候不花錢就吃魚，也記得有黃瓜、西瓜、韭菜、誄、蒜。
5We remember the fish, which we were wont to eat in Egypt for nought; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic;
6現在我們的心血枯竭了，除這嗎哪以外，在我們眼前並沒有別的東西。」
6but now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all; we have nought save this manna to look to.' —
7這嗎哪彷彿芫荽子，又好像珍珠。
7Now the manna was like coriander seed, and the appearance thereof as the appearance of bdellium.
8百姓周圍行走，把嗎哪收起來，或用磨推，或用臼搗，煮在鍋中，又做成餅，滋味好像新油。
8The people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in mortars, and seethed it in pots, and made cakes of it; and the taste of it was as the taste of a cake baked with oil.
9夜間露水降在營中，嗎哪也隨着降下。）
9And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it. —
10摩西 聽見百姓各在各家的帳棚門口哭號。耶和華的怒氣便大發作， 摩西 就不喜悅。
10And Moses heard the people weeping, family by family, every man at the door of his tent; and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; and Moses was displeased.
11摩西 對耶和華說：「你為何苦待僕人？我為何不在你眼前蒙恩，竟把這管理百姓的重任加在我身上呢？
11And Moses said unto the LORD: 'Wherefore hast Thou dealt ill with Thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in Thy sight, that Thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
12這百姓豈是我懷的胎，豈是我生下來的呢？你竟對我說：『把他們抱在懷裏，如養育之父抱吃奶的孩子，直抱到你起誓應許給他們祖宗的地去。』
12Have I conceived all this people? have I brought them forth, that Thou shouldest say unto me: Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing-father carrieth the sucking child, unto the land which Thou didst swear unto their fathers?
13我從哪裏得肉給這百姓吃呢？他們都向我哭號說：『你給我們肉吃吧！』
13Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they trouble me with their weeping, saying: Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14管理這百姓的責任太重了，我獨自擔當不起。
14I am not able to bear all this people myself alone, because it is too heavy for me.
15你這樣待我，我若在你眼前蒙恩，求你立時將我殺了，不叫我見自己的苦情。」
15And if Thou deal thus with me, kill me, I pray Thee, out of hand, if I have found favour in Thy sight; and let me not look upon my wretchedness.'
16耶和華對 摩西 說：「你從 以色列 的長老中招聚七十個人，就是你所知道作百姓的長老和官長的，到我這裏來，領他們到會幕前，使他們和你一同站立。
16And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Gather unto Me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tent of meeting, that they may stand there with thee.
17我要在那裏降臨，與你說話，也要把降於你身上的靈分賜他們，他們就和你同當這管百姓的重任，免得你獨自擔當。
17And I will come down and speak with thee there; and I will take of the spirit which is upon thee, and will put it upon them; and they shall bear the burden of the people with thee, that thou bear it not thyself alone.
18又要對百姓說：『你們應當自潔，預備明天吃肉，因為你們哭號說：誰給我們肉吃！我們在 埃及 很好。這聲音達到了耶和華的耳中，所以他必給你們肉吃。
18And say thou unto the people: Sanctify yourselves against to-morrow, and ye shall eat flesh; for ye have wept in the ears of the LORD, saying: Would that we were given flesh to eat! for it was well with us in Egypt; therefore the LORD will give you flesh, and ye shall eat.
19你們不止吃一天、兩天、五天、十天、二十天，
19Ye shall not eat one day, nor two days, nor five days, neither ten days, nor twenty days;
20要吃一個整月，甚至肉從你們鼻孔裏噴出來，使你們厭惡了，因為你們厭棄住在你們中間的耶和華，在他面前哭號說：我們為何出了 埃及 呢！』」
20but a whole month, until it come out at your nostrils, and it be loathsome unto you; because that ye have rejected the LORD who is among you, and have troubled Him with weeping, saying: Why, now, came we forth out of Egypt?'
21摩西 對耶和華 說：「這與我同住的百姓、步行的男人有六十萬，你還說：『我要把肉給他們，使他們可以吃一個整月。』
21And Moses said: 'The people, among whom I am, are six hundred thousand men on foot; and yet Thou hast said: I will give them flesh, that they may eat a whole month!
22難道給他們宰了羊群牛群，或是把海中所有的魚都聚了來，就夠他們吃嗎？」
22If flocks and herds be slain for them, will they suffice them? or if all the fish of the sea be gathered together for them, will they suffice them?'
23耶和華對 摩西 說：「耶和華的膀臂豈是縮短了嗎？現在要看我的話向你應驗不應驗。」
23And the LORD said unto Moses: 'Is the LORD'S hand waxed short? now shalt thou see whether My word shall come to pass unto thee or not.'
24摩西 出去，將耶和華的話告訴百姓，又招聚百姓的長老中七十個人來，使他們站在 會 幕的四圍。
24And Moses went out, and told the people the words of the LORD; and he gathered seventy men of the elders of the people, and set them round about the Tent.
25耶和華在雲中降臨，對 摩西 說話，把降與他身上的靈分賜那七十個長老。靈停在他們身上的時候，他們就受感說話，以後卻沒有再說。
25And the LORD came down in the cloud, and spoke unto him, and took of the spirit that was upon him, and put it upon the seventy elders; and it came to pass, that, when the spirit rested upon them, they prophesied, but they did so no more.
26但有兩個人仍在營裏，一個名叫 伊利達 ，一個名叫 米達 。他們本是在那些被錄的人中，卻沒有到 會 幕那裏去。靈停在他們身上，他們就在營裏說預言。
26But there remained two men in the camp, the name of the one was Eldad, and the name of the other Medad; and the spirit rested upon them; and they were of them that were recorded, but had not gone out unto the Tent; and they prophesied in the camp.
27有個少年人跑來告訴 摩西 說：「 伊利達 、 米達 在營裏說預言。」
27And there ran a young man, and told Moses, and said: 'Eldad and Medad are prophesying in the camp.'
28摩西 的幫手， 嫩 的兒子 約書亞 ，就是 摩西 所揀選的一個人，說：「請我主 摩西 禁止他們。」
28And Joshua the son of Nun, the minister of Moses from his youth up, answered and said: 'My lord Moses, shut them in.'
29摩西 對他說：「你為我的緣故嫉妒人嗎？惟願耶和華的百姓都受感說話！願耶和華把他的靈降在他們身上！」
29And Moses said unto him: 'Art thou jealous for my sake? would that all the LORD'S people were prophets, that the LORD would put His spirit upon them!'
30於是， 摩西 和 以色列 的長老都回到營裏去。
30And Moses withdrew into the camp, he and the elders of Israel.
31有風從耶和華那裏颳起，把鵪鶉由海面颳來，飛散在營邊和營的四圍；這邊約有一天的路程，那邊約有一天的路程，離地面約有二肘。
31And there went forth a wind from the LORD, and brought across quails from the sea, and let them fall by the camp, about a day's journey on this side, and a day's journey on the other side, round about the camp, and about two cubits above the face of the earth.
32百姓起來，終日終夜，並次日一整天，捕取鵪鶉；至少的也取了十賀梅珥，為自己擺列在營的四圍。
32And the people rose up all that day, and all the night, and all the next day, and gathered the quails; he that gathered least gathered ten heaps; and they spread them all abroad for themselves round about the camp.
33肉在他們牙齒之間尚未嚼爛，耶和華的怒氣就向他們發作，用最重的災殃擊殺了他們。
33While the flesh was yet between their teeth, ere it was chewed, the anger of the LORD was kindled against the people, and the LORD smote the people with a very great plague.
34那地方便叫做 基博羅‧哈他瓦 ，因為他們在那裏葬埋那起貪慾之心的人。
34And the name of that place was called Kibroth-hattaavah, because there they buried the people that lusted.
35百姓從 基博羅‧哈他瓦 走到 哈洗錄 ，就住在 哈洗錄 。
35From Kibroth-hattaavah the people journeyed unto Hazeroth; and they abode at Hazeroth.
