1以色列 全會眾都遵耶和華的吩咐，按着站口從 汛 的曠野往前行，在 利非訂 安營。百姓沒有水喝，
1Then the whole congregation of Israel left the Desert of Sin, moving from place to place as the LORD commanded. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.
2所以與 摩西 爭鬧，說：「給我們水喝吧！」 摩西 對他們說：「你們為甚麼與我爭鬧？為甚麼試探耶和華呢？」
2So the people contended with Moses, “Give us water to drink.” “Why do you contend with me?” Moses replied. “Why do you test the LORD?”
3百姓在那裏甚渴，要喝水，就向 摩西 發怨言，說：「你為甚麼將我們從 埃及 領出來，使我們和我們的兒女並牲畜都渴死呢？」
3But the people thirsted for water there, and they grumbled against Moses: “Why have you brought us out of Egypt—to make us and our children and livestock die of thirst?”
4摩西 就呼求耶和華說：「我向這百姓怎樣行呢？他們幾乎要拿石頭打死我。」
4Then Moses cried out to the LORD, “What should I do with these people? A little more and they will stone me!”
5耶和華對 摩西 說：「你手裏拿着你先前擊打河水的杖，帶領 以色列 的幾個長老，從百姓面前走過去。
5And the LORD said to Moses, “Walk on ahead of the people and take some of the elders of Israel with you. Take along in your hand the staff with which you struck the Nile, and go.
6我必在 何烈 的磐石那裏，站在你面前。你要擊打磐石，從磐石裏必有水流出來，使百姓可以喝。」 摩西 就在 以色列 的長老眼前這樣行了。
6Behold, I will stand there before you by the rock at Horeb. And when you strike the rock, water will come out of it for the people to drink.” So Moses did this in the sight of the elders of Israel.
7他給那地方起名叫 瑪撒 ，又叫 米利巴 ；因 以色列 人爭鬧，又因他們試探耶和華，說：「耶和華是在我們中間不是？」
7He named the place Massah and Meribah because the Israelites quarreled, and because they tested the LORD, saying, “Is the LORD among us or not?”
8那時， 亞瑪力 人來在 利非訂 ，和 以色列 人爭戰。
8After this, the Amalekites came and attacked the Israelites at Rephidim.
9摩西 對 約書亞 說：「你為我們選出人來，出去和 亞瑪力 人爭戰。明天我手裏要拿着上帝的杖，站在山頂上。」
9So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some of our men and go out to fight the Amalekites. Tomorrow I will stand on the hilltop with the staff of God in my hand.”
10於是 約書亞 照着 摩西 對他所說的話行，和 亞瑪力 人爭戰。 摩西 、 亞倫 ，與 戶珥 都上了山頂。
10Joshua did as Moses had instructed him and fought against the Amalekites, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
11摩西 何時舉手， 以色列 人就得勝，何時垂手， 亞瑪力 人就得勝。
11As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel prevailed; but when he lowered them, Amalek prevailed.
12但 摩西 的手發沉，他們就搬石頭來，放在他以下，他就坐在上面。 亞倫 與 戶珥 扶着他的手，一個在這邊，一個在那邊，他的手就穩住，直到日落的時候。
12When Moses’ hands grew heavy, they took a stone and put it under him, and he sat on it. Then Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one on each side, so that his hands remained steady until the sun went down.
13約書亞 用刀殺了 亞瑪力 王和他的百姓。
13So Joshua overwhelmed Amalek and his army with the sword.
14耶和華對 摩西 說：「我要將 亞瑪力 的名號從天下全然塗抹了；你要將這話寫在書上作紀念，又念給 約書亞 聽。」
14Then the LORD said to Moses, “Write this on a scroll as a reminder and recite it to Joshua, because I will utterly blot out the memory of Amalek from under heaven.”
15摩西 築了一座壇，起名叫「耶和華尼西」，
15And Moses built an altar and named it The LORD Is My Banner.
16又說：「耶和華已經起了誓，必世世代代和 亞瑪力 人爭戰。」
16“Indeed,” he said, “a hand was lifted up toward the throne of the LORD. The LORD will war against Amalek from generation to generation.”
