1Be imitators of God, therefore, as beloved children,
1NO ia hoi, e hahai oukou i ke Akua, e like me na keiki punahele;
2and walk in love, just as Christ loved us and gave Himself up for us as a fragrant sacrificial offering to God.
2E haele hoi oukou me ke aloha, e like me ka Kristo i aloha mai ai ia kakou, a haawi hoi ia ia iho no kakou, i alana a me ka mohai i ke Akua, i mea ala oluolu.
3But among you, as is proper among the saints, there must not be even a hint of sexual immorality, or of any kind of impurity, or of greed.
3A o ka moe kolohe, a me na mea haumia a pau, a me ka puniwaiwai, aole loa e hoohikiia ia mau mea iwaena o oukou, me ia o pono ai na haipule;
4Nor should there be obscenity, foolish talk, or crude joking, which are out of character, but rather thanksgiving.
4Aole hoi ka olelo hilahila, ka olelo lapuwale, a me ka olelo ano lua, na mea pono ole: aka, o ka olelo hoomaikai ka pono.
5For of this you can be sure: No immoral, impure, or greedy person (that is, an idolater), has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and of God.
5No ka mea, ua ike oukou i keia, aole ka mea moe kolohe, aole hoi ka mea haumia, aole hoi ka mea puniwaiwai, oia hoi ka mea hoomana kii, aole loa o lakou noho ana i ke aupuni o Kristo a o ke Akua.
6Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of such things the wrath of God is coming on the sons of disobedience.
6E ao o hoopunipuni mai kekahi ia oukou i na olelo wehahee: no keia mau mea e hiki mai ana ka inaina o ke Akua maluna o na keiki hoolohe ole.
7Therefore do not be partakers with them.
7Nolaila, mai noho a hoohalike pu me lakou.
8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light,
8No ka mea, he poeleele ko oukou mamua, i neia manawa hoi ua malamalama oukou i ka Haku: e haele oukou me he kamalii no ka malamalama la:
9for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth.
9(No ka mea, o ka hua na ka Uhane, oia ka maikai a pau, a me ka pono a me ka oiaio:)
10Test and prove what pleases the Lord.
10E hooiaio oukou i ka mea a ka Haku i oluolu ai.
11Have no fellowship with the fruitless deeds of darkness, but rather expose them.
11Mai hoolauna pu hoi oukou ma na bana hua ole o ka pouli, e hoohewa aku nae ia mau mea.
12For it is shameful even to mention what the disobedient do in secret.
12No ka mea, o na mea i hana malu ia e lakou, he mea hilahila ke olelo aku ia mau mea.
13But everything exposed by the light becomes visible, for everything that is illuminated becomes a light itself.
13A o na mea a pau e pono ke hoohewaia aku, ua hoakakaia ma ka malamalama; o ka mea hoakaka aku, oia ka malamalama.
14So it is said: “Wake up, O sleeper, rise up from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
14No ka mea, ua oleloia, E ala'e oe, e ka mea hiamoe ana, e ku ae hoi mai ka make mai, na Kristo hoi oe e hoomalamalama mai.
15Pay careful attention, then, to how you walk, not as unwise but as wise,
15Nolaila, e nana oukou i hele pono e like me ka poe naauao, aole me ka poe naaupo,
16redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
16E malama pono ana i ka manawa; no ka mea, he mau la ino keia.
17Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
17No ia mea, mai noho a naaupo oukou, aka, e hoomaopopo i ka makemake o ka Haku.
18Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to reckless indiscretion. Instead, be filled with the Spirit.
18Mai noho oukou a ona i ka waina, nolaila mai ka uhauha; aka, e hoopihaia oukou i ka Uhane;
19Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your hearts to the Lord,
19E olelo ana kekahi i kekahi i na halelu, i na himeni, a me na mele na ka Uhane, e hoolea ana a e hookani ana i ka Haku, iloko o ko oukou naau;
20always giving thanks to God the Father for everything in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
20No na mea a pau, e hoomaikai mau ana i ke Akua ka Makua, ma ka inoa o ko kakou Haku o Iesu Kristo:
21Submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.
21E malama ana i kekahi i kekahi me ka makau i ke Akua.
22Wives, submit to your husbands as to the Lord.
22E na wahine, e noho malalo o na kane ponoi a oukou, e like me ka ka Haku.
23For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, His body, of which He is the Savior.
23No ka mea, o ke kano ke poo o ka wahine, e like me Kristo ke poo o ka ekalesia: a oia hoi ke ola no ke kino.
24Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything.
24No ia mea, e like me ka ekalesia e noho ana malalo o Kristo, pela boi na wahine malalo o na kane ponoi a lakou ma na mea a pau.
25Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself up for her
25E na kane, aloha aku i ka oukou mau wahine, e like me Kristo i aloha mai ai i ka ekalesia, a haawi mai ia ia iho nona;
26to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word,
26I hoolaa mai ai oia ia ia, hoomaemae ana ia ia i ka wai auau, a me ka olelo,
27and to present her to Himself as a glorious church, without stain or wrinkle or any such blemish, but holy and blameless.
27I hoolilo mai ai oia ia ia nona iho i ekaiesia nani, nole ona wahi paumaele, aole hoi minomino, aole hoi kekahi mea like; aka, i hemolele ia a me ka hala ole.
28In the same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself.
28Pela e pono ai na kane e aloha aku i ka lakou mau wahine, e like me ko lakou mau kino iho: o ka mea aloha i kana wahine, oia ke aloha ia ia iho.
29Indeed, no one ever hated his own body, but he nourishes and cherishes it, just as Christ does the church.
29No ka mea, aole loa kekahi i inaina i kona kino iho; aka, ua hanai no a me ka malama ia ia, e like me ka Haku i ka ekalesia:
30For we are members of His body.
30No ka mea, he mau lala kakou no kona kino, no kona io, a me kona iwi.
31“For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
31No ia hoi, e haalele ke kanaka i kona makuakane a me ka makuwahine, a e hoopiliia'ku ia i kana wahine, a e lilo laua elua i bookahi to.
32This mystery is profound, but I am speaking about Christ and the church.
32He mea pohihibi nui keia; ke olelo aku nei au no Kristo a me ka ekalesia.
33Nevertheless, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
33Aka, e aloha aku kela mea keia mea o oukou a pau i kana wahine e like me ia ia iho: a o ka wahine, e hoomaikai aku ia i kana kane.
