1ʻE Sihova, ke ke manatu ki he meʻa kuo hoko kiate kimautolu: tokanga pea ke ʻafio ki homau taukae.
1Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us. Look and see our disgrace!
2Kuo liliu homau tofiʻa ki he kau muli, ʻa homau ngaahi fale ki he ʻāuhē.
2Our inheritance has been turned over to strangers, our houses to foreigners.
3Ko e kau faʻē mate mo tamai mate ʻakimautolu, ko ʻemau ngaahi faʻē kuo hangē kuo mate ʻa honau ngaahi husepāniti.
3We have become fatherless orphans; our mothers are widows.
4Kuo mau inu vai ʻi he totongi paʻanga, ko ʻemau fefie ʻoku fakatau kiate kimautolu.
4We must buy the water we drink; our wood comes at a price.
5ʻOku māʻulalo ʻa homau kia ki he fakatanga: ʻoku mau ngāue pea ʻoku ʻikai ha mālōlō.
5We are closely pursued; we are weary and find no rest.
6Kuo mau fekuku nima mo e kau ʻIsipite, pea mo e kau ʻAsilia, ke mau mākona ʻi he mā.
6We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread.
7Naʻe fai angahala ʻa ʻemau ngaahi tamai, pea ʻoku ʻikai, pea kuo mau fua ʻenau ngaahi hia.
7Our fathers sinned and are no more, but we bear their punishment.
8Kuo pule ʻae kau tamaioʻeiki kiate kimautolu, ʻoku ʻikai ha niʻihi ʻoku fakahaofi ʻakimautolu mei honau nima.
8Slaves rule over us; there is no one to deliver us from their hands.
9Naʻa mau maʻu meʻakai ʻi he tuʻutāmaki ʻo ʻemau moʻui, koeʻuhi ko e heletā ʻi he toafa.
9We get our bread at the risk of our lives because of the sword in the wilderness.
10Naʻe ʻuliʻuli ʻa homau kili ʻo hangē ko e ngotoʻumu, ko e meʻa ʻi he honge fakamanavahē.
10Our skin is as hot as an oven with fever from our hunger.
11Naʻa nau tohotoho ʻae kau fefine ʻi Saione, ʻae kau tāupoʻou ʻi he ngaahi kolo ʻo Siuta.
11Women have been ravished in Zion, virgins in the cities of Judah.
12ʻOku tautau ʻae ngaahi houʻeiki mei honau nima, naʻe ʻikai ke fakaʻapaʻapaʻi ʻae mata ʻoe kau mātuʻa.
12Princes have been hung up by their hands; elders receive no respect.
13Naʻa nau ʻave ʻae kau talavou ke momosi, pea naʻe tō hifo ʻae tamaiki ʻi he lalo ʻakau.
13Young men toil at millstones; boys stagger under loads of wood.
14Kuo ʻosi ʻae kau mātuʻa mei he matapā, ʻae kau talavou mei he fasi hiva.
14The elders have left the city gate; the young men have stopped their music.
15Kuo ʻosi ʻae fiefia ʻa homau loto; kuo liliu ʻa ʻemau meʻe ko e mamahi.
15Joy has left our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning.
16Kuo tō ʻae tatā fakatuʻi mei homau ʻulu. ʻOiauē ʻakimautolu! He kuo mau fai angahala.
16The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned!
17Koeʻuhi ko e meʻa ni ʻoku vaivai homau loto; koeʻuhi ko e ngaahi meʻa ni ʻoku nenefu homau mata.
17Because of this, our hearts are faint; because of these, our eyes grow dim—
18Koeʻuhi ko e moʻunga ʻo Saione, ʻaia ʻoku lala pē, ʻoku ʻaʻeva ai ʻae fanga fokisi.
18because of Mount Zion, which lies desolate, patrolled by foxes.
19ʻE Sihova, ʻoku ke ʻafioʻi ʻo taʻengata, ko ho ʻafioʻanga ʻoku mei he toʻutangata ki he toʻutangata.
19You, O LORD, reign forever; Your throne endures from generation to generation.
20Ko e hā ʻoku ke fakangaloʻi ʻakimautolu ʻo taʻengata, pea mahuʻi meiate kimautolu ʻo fuoloa?
20Why have You forgotten us forever? Why have You forsaken us for so long?
21Fakatafokiʻi ʻakimautolu kiate koe, ʻE Sihova, pea te mau liliu moʻoni; fakafoʻou homau ngaahi ʻaho ʻo hangē ko ia ʻi muʻa.
21Restore us to Yourself, O LORD, so we may return; renew our days as of old,
22Ka kuo ke mātuʻaki liʻaki ʻakimautolu; ʻoku ke houhau ʻaupito kiate kimautolu.
22unless You have utterly rejected us and remain angry with us beyond measure.
