1Vocês foram vivificados quando estavam mortos em transgressões e pecados,
1And you, when you were dead in your offences, and sins,
2nos quais outrora vocês viveram segundo o modo de viver deste mundo, segundo o príncipe do poder do ar, o espírito que agora atua nos filhos da desobediência.
2Wherein in time past you walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of this air, of the spirit that now worketh on the children of unbelief:
3Entre eles todos nós também vivemos outrora nas paixões da nossa carne, satisfazendo os desejos da carne e da mente, e éramos por natureza filhos da ira, assim como os demais.
3In which also we all conversed in time past, in the desires of our flesh, fulfilling the will of the flesh and of our thoughts, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest:
4Mas Deus, sendo rico em misericórdia, por causa do grande amor que teve por nós,
4But God, (who is rich in mercy,) for his exceeding charity wherewith he loved us,
5mesmo quando estávamos mortos em nossas transgressões, nos vivificou juntamente com Cristo — pela graça vocês foram salvos —
5Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together in Christ, (by whose grace you are saved,)
6e nos ressuscitou com ele, e nos fez assentar com ele nas regiões celestiais em Cristo Jesus,
6And hath raised us up together, and hath made us sit together in the heavenly places, through Christ Jesus.
7para que nas eras vindouras ele pudesse mostrar as supremas riquezas da sua graça em bondade para conosco em Cristo Jesus;
7That he might shew in the ages to come the abundant riches of his grace, in his bounty towards us in Christ Jesus.
8pois pela graça vocês foram salvos por meio da fé, e isso não vem de vocês; é dom de Deus,
8For by grace you are saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, for it is the gift of God;
9não de obras, para que ninguém se glorie.
9Not of works, that no man may glory.
10Pois somos obra dele, criados em Cristo Jesus para as boas obras, as quais Deus preparou de antemão para que andássemos nelas.
10For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus in good works, which God hath prepared that we should walk in them.
11Portanto, lembrem-se de que outrora vocês, gentios na carne, eram chamados de “incircuncisão” pelos que se chamam “circuncisão” — uma circuncisão feita na carne por mãos humanas —,
11For which cause be mindful that you, being heretofore Gentiles in the flesh, who are called uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision in the flesh, made by hands;
12e de que, naquele tempo, vocês estavam separados de Cristo, alienados da comunidade de Israel e alheios às alianças da promessa, sem esperança e sem Deus no mundo.
12That you were at that time without Christ, being aliens from the conversation of Israel, and strangers to the testament, having no hope of the promise, and without God in this world.
13Mas agora, em Cristo Jesus, vocês, que outrora estavam longe, foram aproximados pelo sangue de Cristo.
13But now in Christ Jesus, you, who some time were afar off, are made nigh by the blood of Christ.
14Pois ele é a nossa paz; ele fez de ambos um só e derrubou a parede intermediária de separação,
14For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and breaking down the middle wall of partition, the enmities in his flesh:
15tendo abolido em sua carne a inimizade, a lei dos mandamentos contida em ordenanças, para que pudesse criar em si mesmo, dos dois, um novo homem, fazendo a paz,
15Making void the law of commandments contained in decrees; that he might make the two in himself into one new man, making peace;
16e pudesse reconciliar ambos em um só corpo com Deus por meio da cruz, destruindo nela a inimizade.
16And might reconcile both to God in one body by the cross, killing the enmities in himself.
17Ele veio e pregou paz a vocês que estavam longe e aos que estavam perto.
17And coming, he preached peace to you that were afar off, and peace to them that were nigh.
18Pois, por meio dele, ambos temos acesso ao Pai em um só Espírito.
18For by him we have access both in one Spirit to the Father.
19Assim, então, vocês não são mais estrangeiros e forasteiros, mas são concidadãos dos santos e membros da família de Deus,
19Now therefore you are no more strangers and foreigners; but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and the domestics of God,
20sendo edificados sobre o fundamento dos apóstolos e profetas, sendo o próprio Cristo Jesus a principal pedra angular;
20Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief corner stone:
21Nele, todo o edifício, bem ajustado, cresce para ser um templo santo no Senhor;
21In whom all the building, being framed together, groweth up into an holy temple in the Lord.
22nele, vocês também estão sendo edificados juntos para habitação de Deus no Espírito.
22In whom you also are built together into an habitation of God in the Spirit.
