Kadede Kap (Pohnpeian New Testament and Psalms)
Douay-Rheims Bible, American Edition (1899)
1IEJUJ lao kotin majanier mepukat, ap kotila palilan pil Kidron, o japwjlim a tounpadak kan ian i: Matuel eu mi waja o, me i o japwilim a tounpadak kan kotilon on lole.
1When Jesus had said these things, he went forth with his disciples over the brook Cedron, where there was a garden, into which he entered with his disciples.
2A ludaj me panala i, pil aja waja o, pwe Iejuj o japwilim a tounpadak kan kin purepure Waja o.
2And Judas also, who betrayed him, knew the place; because Jesus had often resorted thither together with his disciples.
3ludaj lao aleer pokon o papa kan jan ren jamero lapalap o parijar akan, ap kokiieila lamp, o jer akan. o kapwa en pei kan.
3Judas therefore having received a band of soldiers and servants from the chief priests and the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4A Iejuj me kotin manior meakaroj, me pan pit i, kotiei won irail majani on irail: Ij me komail rapaki?
4Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon him, went forth, and said to them: Whom seek ye?
5Re japon i: Iejuj men Najaret. Iejuj kotin majani on irail: Nai i. A ludaj, me panala i, pil u ian irail.
5They answered him: Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith to them: I am he. And Judas also, who betrayed him, stood with them.
6Iejuj lao kotin majani on irail: Nai i, re ap puioki jan, pupodi on nan pwel.
6As soon therefore as he had said to them: I am he; they went backward, and fell to the ground.
7A pil kotin kainoma re irail. Ij me komail rapaki? Irail inda: Iejuj men Najaret.
7Again therefore he asked them: Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.
8Iejuj kotin majani: I indai on komail er, me nai i. Ari, ma komail rapakin ia, en purewei jan mepukat!
8Jesus answered, I have told you that I am he. If therefore you seek me, let these go their way.
9Pwe lepen majan en pwaida, me a kotin majanier: Jota amen irail, me komui ki on ia er, me jalonalar.
9That the word might be fulfilled which he said: Of them whom thou hast given me, I have not lost any one.
10A Jimon Petruj, me na kodlaj mia, ap uja pajan, paleki en jamero lapalap a ladu, pale pajan jalon a pali maun. A ladu o me ad a Malkuj.
10Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it, and struck the servant of the high priest, and cut off his right ear. And the name of the servant was Malchus.
11Iejuj ap kotin majani on Petruj: Kapure on om kodlaj nan deu a! Da, dal o, me Jam o kotiki on ia er, i ender nim?
11Jesus therefore said to Peter: Put up thy sword into the scabbard. The chalice which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?
12Ari, pokon o, o ar kaun, o papa en men Juj akan jaikidi Iejuj o jaliedi i.
12Then the band and the tribune, and the servants of the Jews, took Jesus, and bound him:
13O kalua maj ren Anaj, pwe I jam en Kaipaj a paud o jamero lapalap ni par o.
13And they led him away to Annas first, for he was father in law to Caiphas, who was the high priest of that year.
14Iei i Kaipaj, me indai on Juj oko: Me mau, aramaj ta men en kam kila aramaj akan.
14Now Caiphas was he who had given the counsel to the Jews: That it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15A Jimon Petruj o pil amen tounpadak idauenla Iejuj. A tounpadak men et, me jamero lapalap ajaer, ian Iejuj kotilon on nan matuel en jamero lapalap.
15And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. And that disciple was known to the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the court of the high priest.
16A Petruj u liki impan wanim o. Tounpadak teio, me jamero lapalap ajaer, pedoi jan kajokajoi on me jinjila wanim o ukelon on Petruj lole.
16But Peter stood at the door without. The other disciple therefore, who was known to the high priest, went out, and spoke to the portress, and brought in Peter.
17Jeripein o, me jinjila wanim, ap indai on Petruj: Kaidin amen ren tounpadak kan en aramaj men et koe? A inda: Nai jo.
17The maid therefore that was portress, saith to Peter: Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples? He saith: I am not.
18A ladu o papa kan u waja o, jaunda kijiniai, pwe a kapau; irail raneran ia, a Petruj pil ian u raneran.
18Now the servants and ministers stood at a fire of coals, because it was cold, and warmed themselves. And with them was Peter also, standing, and warming himself.
19Jamero lalalap ap kalelapok ren Iejuj duen japwilim a tounpadak kan o duen a padak.
19The high priest therefore asked Jesus of his disciples, and of his doctrine.
20Iejuj kotin japen i: I padapadak janjal on jappa; anjanu karoj I kaukawewedar nan jina koke o nan im en kaudok, waja me Juj oko karoj kin pokon pena ia; a jota man meakot, me I padak waja rir.
20Jesus answered him: I have spoken openly to the world: I have always taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither all the Jews resort; and in secret I have spoken nothing.
21Da me kom peidokki re i? Kalelapok ren me ron ia er, me I padaki on irail er, kilan, re aja, me I indada.
21Why asketh thou me? ask them who have heard what I have spoken unto them: behold they know what things I have said.
22Ni en Iejuj a kotin majani met, amen jan ren papa ko, me uda impa, ap pikir jilan en Iejuj indada: Iduen om japen on jamero lapalap?
22And when he had said these things, one of the servants standing by, gave Jesus a blow, saying: Answerest thou the high priest so?
23Jejuj kotin japen i: Ma ai lokaia jued, koe ap kadede ki duen a jued, a ma me pun menda koe pikir ia?
23Jesus answered him: If I have spoken evil, give testimony of the evil; but if well, why strikest thou me?
24A Anaj ap kadar won jenjal ren jamero lapalap Kaipaj
24And Annas sent him bound to Caiphas the high priest.
25A Jimon Petruj u, raneran irail ap indai on i: Ele koe pil amen a tounpadak kan? A kamamada indada: Nai jo.
25And Simon Peter was standing, and warming himself. They said therefore to him: Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied it, and said: I am not.
26Ladun jamero lapalap amen, me jauneki ol o, me Petruj pale jan jalon a, ap indada: Kaidin koe me i kilaner re a nan matuel o?
26One of the servants of the high priest (a kinsman to him whose ear Peter cut off) saith to him: Did I not see thee in the garden with him?
27Petruj ap pil kamamada. Malek madan kakorotada,
27Again therefore Peter denied; and immediately the cock crew.
28Irail ap kalua jan Iejuj ren Kaipaj, walan nan im en kadeik. Ari, me jankonai. A irail jota pedelon on nan im en kadeik, pwe re de kajaminela pein irail, pwe re en kak on tunole paja.
28Then they led Jesus from Caiphas to the governor’s hall. And it was morning; and they went not into the hall, that they might not be defiled, but that they might eat the pasch.
29Pilatuj ap pedoi won re irail indada: Da me komail karauneki aramaj men et?
29Pilate therefore went out to them, and said: What accusation bring you against this man?
30Irail japen indan i: Ma men et jota me jued amen, je jota pan panalan komui i.
30They answered, and said to him: If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up to thee.
31Pilatuj ap majani on irail: Pein komail ale i, kadeikada i duen omail kapun. Juj oko ap indai on i: A jota muei on kit, jen kamela amen.
31Pilate therefore said to them: Take him you, and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said to him: It is not lawful for us to put any man to death;
32Pwe majan en Iejuj en pwaida, me a kotin majanieda, pwen kajaleda, duen a pan kamatala.
32That the word of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he said, signifying what death he should die.
33A Pilatuj pur on nan im en kadeik ekeredo Iejuj, kalelapok re a: Komui Nanmarki en Juj akan?
33Pilate therefore went into the hall again, and called Jesus, and said to him: Art thou the king of the Jews?
34Iejuj kotin japen i: Kom indada mepukat jan nan pein omui pam? De akai indai on komui duen nai?
34Jesus answered: Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or have others told it thee of me?
35Pilatuj japen: Da, men Juj amen nai? Toun jap omui o jamero lapalap akan pana don ia komui; da me komui wiadar?
35Pilate answered: Am I a Jew? Thy own nation, and the chief priests, have delivered thee up to me: what hast thou done?
36Iejuj kotin japen: Ai wei kaidin men jappa et. Ma ai wei men jappa et, nan ai papa kan pan pepeita, pwe I ender pan panalan Juj akan; a kaidin ai wei anjau wet,
36Jesus answered: My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would certainly strive that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now my kingdom is not from hence.
37Pilatuj ap indai on i: Ari, Nanmarki amen komui? Iejuj kotin japen: Komui me inda, me Nanmarki amen nai. I me I ipwikidier o pwara kidon jappa pwe I en kadede melel. Kijan melel akan kin roneron nil ai.
37Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a king then? Jesus answered: Thou sayest that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world; that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice.
38Pilatuj indai on i: Dakot melel? A lao indawei mepukat, ap pil pedoi on ren men Juj indai on irail: I jota man diar dip a.
38Pilate saith to him: What is truth? And when he said this, he went out again to the Jews, and saith to them: I find no cause in him.
39A tiak eu mi re omail, i en lapwada meamen ni paja. Komail jo men, i en lapwadan komail Nanmarki en Juj akan?
39But you have a custom that I should release one unto you at the pasch: will you, therefore, that I release unto you the king of the Jews?
40Irail karoj pil weriwereda indada: Kaidik men et, a Parapaj! A Parapaj me lolap amen.
40Then cried they all again, saying: Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.
