1و داود گفت: «آیا از خاندان شاول کسی تابه حال باقی است تا به‌خاطر یوناتان او رااحسان نمایم؟»
1And David said: Is there any one, think you, left of the house of Saul, that I may shew kindness to him for Jonathan’s sake?
2و از خاندان شاول خادمی مسمی به صیبا بود، پس او را نزد داود خواندند وپادشاه وی را گفت: «آیا تو صیبا هستی؟» گفت: «بنده تو هستم.»
2Now there was of the house of Saul, a servant named Siba: and when the king had called him to him, he said to him: Art thou Siba? And he answered: I am Siba thy servant.
3پادشاه گفت: «آیا تا به حال ازخاندان شاول کسی هست تا او را احسان خدایی نمایم؟» صیبا در جواب پادشاه گفت: «یوناتان راتا به حال پسری لنگ باقی است.»
3And the king said: Is there any one left of the house of Saul, that I may shew the mercy of God unto him? And Siba said to the king: There is a son of Jonathan left, who is lame of his feet.
4پادشاه از وی پرسید که «او کجاست؟» صیبا به پادشاه گفت: «اینک او در خانه ماکیر بن عمیئیل در لودباراست.»
4Where is he? said he. And Siba said to the king: Behold he is in the house of Machir the son of Ammiel in Lodabar.
5و داود پادشاه فرستاده، او را از خانه ماکیر بن عمیئیل از لودبار گرفت.
5Then king David sent, and brought him out of the house of Machir the son of Ammiel of Lodabar.
6پس مفیبوشت بن یوناتان بن شاول نزد داودآمده، به روی در‌افتاده، تعظیم نمود. و داود گفت: «ای مفیبوشت!» گفت: «اینک بنده تو.»
6And when Miphiboseth the son of Jonathan the son of Saul was come to David, he fell on his face and worshipped. And David said: Miphiboseth? And he answered: Behold thy servant.
7داود وی را گفت: «مترس! زیرا به‌خاطر پدرت یوناتان برتو البته احسان خواهم نمود و تمامی زمین پدرت شاول را به تو رد خواهم کرد، و تو دائم بر سفره من نان خواهی خورد.»
7And David said to him: Fear not, for I will surely shew thee mercy for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and I will restore the lands of Saul thy father, and thou shalt eat bread at my table always.
8پس او تعظیم کرده، گفت که «بنده تو چیست که بر سگ مرده‌ای مثل من التفات نمایی؟»
8He bowed down to him, and said: Who am I thy servant, that thou shouldst look upon such a dead dog as I am?
9و پادشاه، صیبا، بنده شاول را خوانده، گفت: «آنچه را که مال شاول و تمام خاندانش بود به پسرآقای تو دادم.
9Then the king called Siba the servant of Saul, and said to him: All that belonged to Saul, and all his house, I have given to thy master’s son.
10و تو و پسرانت و بندگانت به جهت او زمین را زرع نموده، محصول آن رابیاورید تا برای پسر آقایت به جهت خوردنش نان باشد، اما مفیبوشت، پسر آقایت همیشه بر سفره من نان خواهد خورد.» و صیبا پانزده پسر و بیست خادم داشت.
10Thou therefore and thy sons and thy servants shall till the land for him: and thou shalt bring in food for thy master’s son, that he may be maintained: and Miphiboseth the son of thy master shall always eat bread at my table. And Siba had fifteen sons and twenty servants.
11و صیبا به پادشاه گفت: «موافق هر‌آنچه آقایم پادشاه به بنده‌اش فرموده است بهمین طور بنده ات عمل خواهد نمود.» و پادشاه گفت که مفیبوشت بر سفره من مثل یکی از پسران پادشاه خواهد خورد.
11And Siba said to the king: As thou my lord the king hast commanded thy servant, so will thy servant do: and Miphiboseth shall eat at my table, as one of the sons of the king.
12و مفیبوشت را پسری کوچک بود که میکا نام داشت، و تمامی ساکنان خانه صیبا بنده مفیبوشت بودند.
12And Miphiboseth had a young son whose name was Micha: and all the kindred of the house of Siba served Miphiboseth.
13پس مفیبوشت در اورشلیم ساکن شد زیرا که همیشه بر سفره پادشاه می‌خورد و از هر دو پا لنگ بود.
13But Miphiboseth dwelt in Jerusalem: because he ate always of the king’s table: and he was lame of both feet.
