1Ke ma inge, lungse pa kowos ac kwafe kowos nu kac. Kowos in oayapa kwafe kowos nu ke mwe sang lun ngun, yokna ke mwe sang lun sulkakin kas lun God.
1Earnestly pursue love and eagerly desire spiritual gifts, especially the gift of prophecy.
2For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men, but to God. Indeed, no one understands him; he utters mysteries in the Spirit.
3Tusruktu mwet se su sulkakin kas lun God el kaskas nu sin mwet uh ke kas in kasrelos, kas in akkeyalos, ac kas in akwoyalos.
3But he who prophesies speaks to men for their edification, encouragement, and comfort.
4The one who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.
5Wo sik kowos nukewa in kaskaskin siena kain pusra; a wo liki na tuh in oasr mwe sang yuruwos in sulkakin kas lun God.
5I wish that all of you could speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. He who prophesies is greater than one who speaks in tongues, unless he interprets so that the church may be edified.
6Ke ma inge, mwet wiuk in lulalfongi, nga fin fahsrot nu yuruwos, ya oasr sripa nu suwos nga fin kaskaskin siena kain pusra? Ac wanginna, nga fin tia fahkak nu suwos sie mwe fahkak sin God me, ku kas in etauk, ku kas in purakak nunkowos, ku kas in luti.
6Now, brothers, if I come to you speaking in tongues, how will I benefit you, unless I bring you some revelation or knowledge or prophecy or teaching?
7Nunku ke sie flute ku harp, kain in mwe srital on ma wangin moul la — mwet uh ac etu fuka ahyen on soko fin tia kalem pusren kais sie note kac?
7Even in the case of lifeless instruments, such as the flute or harp, how will anyone recognize the tune they are playing unless the notes are distinct?
8Ac mwet ukuk se fin tia ukya mwe ukuk uh in kalem, su ac akola nu ke mweun?
8Again, if the trumpet sounds a muffled call, who will prepare for battle?
9In ouiya sacna, mwet uh ac kalem fuka ke ma kowos fahk uh kowos fin kaskaskin siena kain pusra ma tiana kalem uh? Kas lowos uh ac wanginla yen engyeng uh!
9So it is with you. Unless you speak intelligible words with your tongue, how will anyone know what you are saying? You will just be speaking into the air.
10Pukanten kain in kas fin faclu ma tia oana sie, a kain in kas inge nukewa oasr kalmeya.
10Assuredly, there are many different languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning.
11Sie mwet fin sramsram ke kas ma nga tia etu, na el oana sie mwet sac nu sik, ac nga mwet sac se pac nu sel.
11If, then, I do not know the meaning of someone’s language, I am a foreigner to the speaker, and he is a foreigner to me.
12Ke kowos kena eis mwe sang lun Ngun, kowos enenu in akyokye orekmakinyen mwe sang ma ac kasru in musaeak mwet in church.
12It is the same with you. Since you are eager to have spiritual gifts, strive to excel in gifts that build up the church.
13Therefore, the one who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret.
14Tuh nga fin pre ke siena kain pusra, ngunik el pre, a nunkuk wangin kac.
14For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my mind is unfruitful.
15Na mea nga ac oru? Nga fah pre ke ngunik, ac nga fah oayapa pre ke nunak luk; nga fah on ke ngunik, ac nga fah oayapa on ke nunak luk.
15What then shall I do? I will pray with my spirit, but I will also pray with my mind. I will sing with my spirit, but I will also sing with my mind.
16Ke kom sang kulo nu sin God ke ngun mukena, mwet saya se su wi tukeni sac el ac ku in wi fahk “Amen” fuka nu ke pre in sang kulo lom, ke el tia ku in etu ma kom fahk an?
16Otherwise, if you speak a blessing in spirit, how can someone who is uninstructed say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying?
17Pre in sang kulo lom nu sin God finne wo, ac tiana kasru mwet se ngia.
17You may be giving thanks well enough, but the other one is not edified.
18Nga kulo nu sin God lah nga kaskaskin siena kain pusra yohk liki kowos nukewa.
18I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.
19Tusruktu ke pacl in alu in church, wo sik in kaskaskin kas limekosr na ma mwet uh ku in kalem kac ac eis etauk kac, liki na in kaskaskin tausin puspis kas in siena kain pusra.
19But in the church, I would rather speak five coherent words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue.
20Mwet Christian wiuk, kowos in tia elahn tulik in nunak lowos. Tusruktu in ma koluk, lela in wangin mwatuwos oana tulik srisrik; a in nunak lowos, kowos in nunak oana mwet matu.
20Brothers, stop thinking like children. In regard to evil be infants, but in your thinking be mature.
21In Ma Simusla oasr ma simla su fahk: “Ke kaskas lun mwet su siena kas lalos, Nga fah kaskas nu sin mwet luk, Leum El fahk. Nga fah kaskas ke oalin mwet sac uh, Tusruktu, ne ouinge, mwet luk fah tia porongeyu.”
21It is written in the Law: “By strange tongues and foreign lips I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to Me, says the Lord.”
22Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers, but for unbelievers. Prophecy, however, is for believers, not for unbelievers.
23Ke ouinge uh, fin oasr tukeni lun mwet in church, ac mwet nukewa mutawauk in kaskaskin siena kain pusra — ac kutu mwet saya, ku mwet sululalfongi utyak wi, ya elos ac tia fahk mu kowos mwet wel?
23So if the whole church comes together and everyone speaks in tongues, and some who are uninstructed or some unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your minds?
24A elos nukewa fin sulkakin kas lun God ke sie mwet selulalfongi ku sie mwet saya utyak, na el ac ku in akilenak ma koluk lal ke ma el lohng uh. El ac fah nununkal sifacna ke ma el lohng inge,
24But if an unbeliever or uninstructed person comes in while everyone is prophesying, he will be convicted and called to account by all,
25ac el ac fahkak nunak lukma lal ye mutun mwet tukeni uh, ac el ac fah faksufi ac alu nu sin God ac fahk, “Pwayena lah God El oasr yuruwos!”
25and the secrets of his heart will be made known. So he will fall facedown and worship God, proclaiming, “God is truly among you!”
26Mwet lulalfongi wiuk, pa inge kalmen ma nga fahk uh. Ke kowos tukeni nu ke alu, sie mwet uh ac on, sie elan luti, sie elan fahkak mwe fahkak sin God me, sie pac elan kaskaskin siena kain pusra, ac sie pac elan aketeya pusra inge. Ma nukewa enenu in mwe musaeak mwet in church.
26What then shall we say, brothers? When you come together, everyone has a psalm or a teaching, a revelation, a tongue, or an interpretation. All of these must be done to build up the church.
27Kutena mwet fin kaskaskin siena kain pusra, lela in tia pus liki mwet luo ku tolu, ac elos in kais sie eis pacl lalos, ac sie pac mwet in aketeya ma srumunyuk uh.
27If anyone speaks in a tongue, two, or at most three, should speak in turn, and someone must interpret.
28Tusruktu fin wangin mwet ku in aketeya, na mwet se ma kaskaskin siena kain pusra el enenu in misla, ac kaskas na nu sel sifacna ac nu sin God.
28But if there is no interpreter, he should remain silent in the church and speak only to himself and God.
29Mwet luo ku tolu su oasr mwe fahkak sin God me elos in eis kunalos, na mwet ngia in lohang akwoya nu ke ma elos fahk.
29Two or three prophets should speak, and the others should weigh carefully what is said.
30Tusruktu mwet se fin muta in tukeni uh ac el eis sie mwe fahkak sin God, mwet se ma kaskas uh enenu in tui.
30And if a revelation comes to someone who is seated, the first speaker should stop.
31Kais sie suwos ku in eis pacl la in fahkak kas lun God, tuh mwet nukewa in ku in lutlut kac ac eis ku lalos kac.
31For you can all prophesy in turn so that everyone may be instructed and encouraged.
32The spirits of prophets are subject to prophets.
33mweyen God El tia pangon kut nu ke ouiya oraru, a nu ke ouiya misla. Oana in church nukewa lun mwet lun God,
33For God is not a God of disorder, but of peace—as in all the churches of the saints.
34mutan elos enenu in misla ke pacl in tukeni uh. Elos in tia kaskas, a elos in pusisel, fal nu ke Ma Sap lun mwet Jew.
34Women are to be silent in the churches. They are not permitted to speak, but must be in submission, as the law says.
35Elos fin lungse etu ke kutena ma, elos fah siyuk sin mukul tumalos in lohm selos. Sie mwe mwekin fin sie mutan el kaskas ke pacl in tukeni lun church.
35If they wish to inquire about something, they are to ask their own husbands at home; for it is dishonorable for a woman to speak in the church.
36Kowos mwet in church Corinth, mea pwaye lah kas lun God tuku yuruwos me?
36Did the word of God originate with you? Or are you the only ones it has reached?
37Mwet se fin nunku mu el mwet utuk kas lun God, ku oasr mwe sang lun ngun yorol, elan akilen lah ma nga simis nu suwos inge ma Leum Jesus el sapkin.
37If anyone considers himself a prophet or spiritual person, let him acknowledge that what I am writing you is the Lord’s command.
38Tusruktu el fin tia lohang nu ke kas luk inge, nimet kowos lohang nu sel.
38But if anyone ignores this, he himself will be ignored.
39Ke ma inge, mwet lulalfongi wiuk, kowos in insianaung in sulkakin kas lun God, tusruktu nimet ikol mwet lulalfongi su kaskaskin siena kain pusra.
39So, my brothers, be eager to prophesy, and do not forbid speaking in tongues.
40Kowos in oru ma nukewa in ouiya fal ac in takla wo.
40But everything must be done in a proper and orderly manner.
