1And it came to pass in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, that this word came unto Jeremiah from the LORD, saying:
1猶大 王 約西亞 的兒子 約雅敬 第四年，耶和華的話臨到 耶利米 說：
2'Take thee a roll of a book, and write therein all the words that I have spoken unto thee against Israel, and against Judah, and against all the nations, from the day I spoke unto thee, from the days of Josiah, even unto this day.
2「你取一書卷，將我對你說攻擊 以色列 和 猶大 ，並各國的一切話，從我對你說話的那日，就是從 約西亞 的日子起直到今日，都寫在其上。
3It may be that the house of Judah will hear all the evil which I purpose to do unto them; that they may return every man from his evil way, and I may forgive their iniquity and their sin.'
3或者 猶大 家聽見我想要降與他們的一切災禍，各人就回頭，離開惡道，我好赦免他們的罪孽和罪惡。」
4Then Jeremiah called Baruch the son of Neriah; and Baruch wrote from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the LORD, which He had spoken unto him, upon a roll of a book.
4所以， 耶利米 召了 尼利亞 的兒子 巴錄 來； 巴錄 就從 耶利米 口中，將耶和華對 耶利米 所說的一切話寫在書卷上。
5And Jeremiah commanded Baruch, saying: 'I am detained, I cannot go into the house of the LORD;
5耶利米 吩咐 巴錄 說：「我被拘管，不能進耶和華的殿。
6therefore go thou, and read in the roll, which thou hast written from my mouth, the words of the LORD in the ears of the people in the LORD'S house upon a fast-day; and also thou shalt read them in the ears of all Judah that come out of their cities.
6所以你要去趁禁食的日子，在耶和華殿中將耶和華的話，就是你從我口中所寫在書卷上的話，念給百姓和一切從 猶大 城邑出來的人聽。
7It may be they will present their supplication before the LORD, and will return every one from his evil way; for great is the anger and the fury that the LORD hath pronounced against this people.'
7或者他們在耶和華面前懇求各人回頭，離開惡道，因為耶和華向這百姓所說要發的怒氣和忿怒是大的。」
8And Baruch the son of Neriah did according to all that Jeremiah the prophet commanded him, reading in the book the words of the LORD in the LORD'S house.
8尼利亞 的兒子 巴錄 就照先知 耶利米 一切所吩咐的去行，在耶和華的殿中從書上念耶和華的話。
9Now it came to pass in the fifth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah, king of Judah, in the ninth month, that they proclaimed a fast before the LORD, all the people in Jerusalem, and all the people that came from the cities of Judah unto Jerusalem.
9猶大 王 約西亞 的兒子 約雅敬 第五年九月， 耶路撒冷 的眾民和那從 猶大 城邑來到 耶路撒冷 的眾民，在耶和華面前宣告禁食的日子，
10Then did Baruch read in the book the words of Jeremiah in the house of the LORD, in the chamber of Gemariah the son of Shaphan the scribe, in the upper court, at the entry of the new gate of the LORD'S house, in the ears of all the people.
10巴錄 就在耶和華殿的上院，耶和華殿的新門口， 沙番 的兒子文士 基瑪利雅 的屋內，念書上 耶利米 的話給眾民聽。
11And when Micaiah the son of Gemariah, the son of Shaphan, had heard out of the book all the words of the LORD,
11沙番 的孫子、 基瑪利雅 的兒子 米該亞 聽見書上耶和華的一切話，
12he went down into the king's house, into the scribe's chamber; and, lo, all the princes sat there, even Elishama the scribe, and Delaiah the son of Shemaiah, and Elnathan the son of Achbor, and Gemariah the son of Shaphan, and Zedekiah the son of Hananiah, and all the princes.
12他就下到王宮，進入文士的屋子。眾首領，就是文士 以利沙瑪 、 示瑪雅 的兒子 第萊雅 、 亞革波 的兒子 以利拿單 、 沙番 的兒子 基瑪利雅 、 哈拿尼雅 的兒子 西底家 ，和其餘的首領都坐在那裏。
13Then Micaiah declared unto them all the words that he had heard, when Baruch read the book in the ears of the people.
13於是 米該亞 對他們述說他所聽見的一切話，就是 巴錄 向百姓念那書的時候所聽見的。
14Therefore all the princes sent Jehudi the son of Nethaniah, the son of Shelemiah, the son of Cushi, unto Baruch, saying: 'Take in thy hand the roll wherein thou hast read in the ears of the people, and come.' So Baruch the son of Neriah took the roll in his hand, and came unto them.
14眾首領就打發 古示 的曾孫、 示利米雅 的孫子、 尼探雅 的兒子 猶底 到 巴錄 那裏，對他說：「你將所念給百姓聽的書卷拿在手中到我們這裏來。」 尼利亞 的兒子 巴錄 就手拿書卷來到他們那裏。
15And they said unto him: 'Sit down now, and read it in our ears.' So Baruch read it in their ears.
15他們對他說：「請你坐下，念給我們聽。」 巴錄 就念給他們聽。
16Now it came to pass, when they had heard all the words, they turned in fear one toward another, and said unto Baruch: 'We will surely tell the king of all these words.'
16他們聽見這一切話就害怕，面面相觀，對 巴錄 說：「我們必須將這一切話告訴王。」
17And they asked Baruch, saying: 'Tell us now: How didst thou write all these words at his mouth?'
17他們問 巴錄 說：「請你告訴我們，你怎樣從他口中寫這一切話呢？」
18Then Baruch answered them: 'He pronounced all these words unto me with his mouth, and I wrote them with ink in the book.'
18巴錄 回答說：「他用口向我說這一切話，我就用筆墨寫在書上。」
19Then said the princes unto Baruch: 'Go, hide thee, thou and Jeremiah, and let no man know where ye are.'
19眾首領對 巴錄 說：「你和 耶利米 要去藏起來，不可叫人知道你們在哪裏。」
20And they went in to the king into the court; but they had deposited the roll in the chamber of Elishama the scribe; and they told all the words in the ears of the king.
20眾首領進院見王，卻先把書卷存在文士 以利沙瑪 的屋內，以後將這一切話說給王聽。
21So the king sent Jehudi to fetch the roll; and he took it out of the chamber of Elishama the scribe. And Jehudi read it in the ears of the king, and in the ears of all the princes that stood beside the king.
21王就打發 猶底 去拿這書卷來，他便從文士 以利沙瑪 的屋內取來，念給王和王左右侍立的眾首領聽。
22Now the king was sitting in the winter-house in the ninth month; and the brazier was burning before him.
22那時正是九月，王坐在過冬的房屋裏，王的前面火盆中 有 燒着的 火 。
23And it came to pass, when Jehudi had read three or four columns, that he cut it with the penknife, and cast it into the fire that was in the brazier, until all the roll was consumed in the fire that was in the brazier.
23猶底 念了三四篇， 王 就用文士的刀將書卷割破，扔在火盆中，直到全卷在火中燒盡了。
24Yet they were not afraid, nor rent their garments, neither the king, nor any of his servants that heard all these words.
24王和聽見這一切話的臣僕都不懼怕，也不撕裂衣服。
25Moreover Elnathan and Delaiah and Gemariah had entreated the king not to burn the roll; but he would not hear them.
25以利拿單 和 第萊雅 ，並 基瑪利雅 懇求王不要燒這書卷，他卻不聽。
26And the king commanded Jerahmeel the king's son, and Seraiah the son of Azriel, and Shelemiah the son of Abdeel, to take Baruch the scribe and Jeremiah the prophet; but the LORD hid them.
26王就吩咐 哈米勒 的兒子 耶拉篾 和 亞斯列 的兒子 西萊雅 ，並 亞伯疊 的兒子 示利米雅 ，去捉拿文士 巴錄 和先知 耶利米 。耶和華卻將他們隱藏。
27Then the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, after that the king had burned the roll, and the words which Baruch wrote at the mouth of Jeremiah, saying:
27王燒了書卷（其上有 巴錄 從 耶利米 口中所寫的話）以後，耶和華的話臨到 耶利米 說：
28'Take thee again another roll, and write in it all the former words that were in the first roll, which Jehoiakim the king of Judah hath burned.
28「你再取一卷，將 猶大 王 約雅敬 所燒第一卷上的一切話寫在其上。
29And concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah thou shalt say: Thus saith the LORD: Thou hast burned this roll, saying: Why hast thou written therein, saying: The king of Babylon shall certainly come and destroy this land, and shall cause to cease from thence man and beast?
29論到 猶大 王 約雅敬 你要說，耶和華如此說：你燒了書卷，說：『你為甚麼在其上寫着，說 巴比倫 王必要來毀滅這地，使這地上絕了人民牲畜呢？』
30Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim king of Judah: He shall have none to sit upon the throne of David; and his dead body shall be cast out in the day to the heat, and in the night to the frost.
30所以耶和華論到 猶大 王 約雅敬 說：他後裔中必沒有人坐在 大衛 的寶座上；他的屍首必被拋棄，白日受炎熱，黑夜受寒霜。
31And I will visit upon him and his seed and his servants their iniquity; and I will bring upon them, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and upon the men of Judah, all the evil that I have pronounced against them, but they hearkened not.'
31我必因他和他後裔，並他臣僕的罪孽刑罰他們。我要使我所說的一切災禍臨到他們和 耶路撒冷 的居民，並 猶大 人；只是他們不聽。」
32Then took Jeremiah another roll, and gave it to Baruch the scribe, the son of Neriah; who wrote therein from the mouth of Jeremiah all the words of the book which Jehoiakim king of Judah had burned in the fire; and there were added besides unto them many like words.
32於是， 耶利米 又取一書卷交給 尼利亞 的兒子文士 巴錄 ，他就從 耶利米 的口中寫了 猶大 王 約雅敬 所燒前卷上的一切話，另外又添了許多相彷的話。
