1The burden of Damascus. Behold, Damascus is taken away from being a city, and it shall be a ruinous heap.
1وحی درباره دمشق: اینک دمشق از میان شهرها برداشته می‌شود و توده خراب خواهد گردید.
2The cities of Aroer are forsaken; they shall be for flocks, which shall lie down, and none shall make them afraid.
2شهرهای عروعیر متروک می‌شود و به جهت خوابیدن گله‌ها خواهد بود و کسی آنها را نخواهد ترسانید.
3The fortress also shall cease from Ephraim, and the kingdom from Damascus; and the remnant of Aram shall be as the glory of the children of Israel, saith the LORD of hosts.
3و حصار از افرایم تلف خواهد شد و سلطنت ازدمشق و از بقیه ارام. و مثل جلال بنی‌اسرائیل خواهند بود زیرا که یهوه صبایوت چنین می‌گوید.
4And it shall come to pass in that day, that the glory of Jacob shall be made thin, and the fatness of his flesh shall wax lean.
4و در آن روز جلال یعقوب ضعیف می‌شود و فربهی جسدش به لاغری تبدیل می‌گردد.
5And it shall be as when the harvestman gathereth the standing corn, and reapeth the ears with his arm; yea, it shall be as when one gleaneth ears in the valley of Rephaim.
5و چنان خواهد بود که دروگران زرع راجمع کنند و دستهای ایشان سنبله‌ها را درو کند. و خواهد بود مثل وقتی که در وادی رفایم سنبله‌ها را بچینند.
6Yet there shall be left therein gleanings, as at the beating of an olive-tree, two or three berries in the top of the uppermost bough, four or five in the branches of the fruitful tree, saith the LORD, the God of Israel.
6و خوشه های چند در آن باقی ماند و مثل وقتی که زیتون را بتکانند که دو یاسه دانه بر سر شاخه بلند و چهار یا پنج دانه برشاخچه های بارور آن باقی ماند. یهوه خدای اسرائیل چنین می‌گوید.
7In that day shall a man regard his Maker, and his eyes shall look to the Holy One of Israel.
7در آن روز انسان بسوی آفریننده خود نظرخواهد کرد و چشمانش بسوی قدوس اسرائیل خواهد نگریست.
8And he shall not regard the altars, the work of his hands, neither shall he look to that which his fingers have made, either the Asherim, or the sun-images.
8و بسوی مذبح هایی که به‌دستهای خود ساخته است نظر نخواهد کرد و به آنچه با انگشتهای خویش بنا نموده یعنی اشیریم و بتهای آفتاب نخواهد نگریست.
9In that day shall his strong cities be as the forsaken places, which were forsaken from before the children of Israel, after the manner of woods and lofty forests; and it shall be a desolation.
9در آن روز شهرهای حصینش مثل خرابه هایی که در جنگل یا بر کوه بلند است خواهد شد که آنها را از حضور بنی‌اسرائیل واگذاشتند و ویران خواهد شد.
10For thou hast forgotten the God of thy salvation, and thou hast not been mindful of the Rock of thy stronghold; therefore thou didst plant plants of pleasantness, and didst set it with slips of a stranger;
10چونکه خدای نجات خود را فراموش کردی و صخره قوت خویش را به یاد نیاوردی بنابراین نهالهای دلپذیرغرس خواهی نمود و قلمه های غریب را خواهی کاشت.
11In the day of thy planting thou didst make it to grow, and in the morning thou didst make thy seed to blossom — a heap of boughs in the day of grief and of desperate pain.
11در روزی که غرس می‌نمایی آن را نموخواهی داد و در صبح مزروع خود را به شکوفه خواهی آورد اما محصولش در روز آفت مهلک وحزن علاج ناپذیر بر باد خواهد رفت.
12Ah, the uproar of many peoples, that roar like the roaring of the seas; and the rushing of nations, that rush like the rushing of mighty waters!
12وای بر شورش قوم های بسیار که مثل شورش دریا شورش می‌نمایند و خروش طوایفی که مثل خروش آبهای زورآور خروش می‌کنند.
13The nations shall rush like the rushing of many waters; but He shall rebuke them, and they shall flee far off, and shall be chased as the chaff of the mountains before the wind, and like the whirling dust before the storm.
13طوایف مثل خروش آبهای بسیارمی خروشند اما ایشان را عتاب خواهد کرد و به‌جای دور خواهند گریخت و مثل کاه کوهها دربرابر باد رانده خواهند شد و مثل غبار در برابرگردباد.
14At eventide behold terror; and before the morning they are not. This is the portion of them that spoil us, and the lot of them that rob us.
14در وقت شام اینک خوف است و قبل از صبح نابود می‌شوند. نصیب تاراج کنندگان ما و حصه غارت نمایندگان ما همین است.
