1Then we turned, and took our journey into the wilderness by the way to the Red Sea, as the LORD spoke unto me; and we compassed mount Seir many days.
1「此後，我們轉回，從 紅海 的路往曠野去，是照耶和華所吩咐我的。我們在 西珥山 繞行了許多日子。
2And the LORD spoke unto me, saying:
2耶和華對我說：
3'Ye have compassed this mountain long enough; turn you northward.
3『你們繞行這山的日子夠了，要轉向北去。
4And command thou the people, saying: Ye are to pass through the border of your brethren the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir; and they will be afraid of you; take ye good heed unto yourselves therefore;
4你吩咐百姓說：你們弟兄 以掃 的子孫住在 西珥 ，你們要經過他們的境界。他們必懼怕你們，所以你們要分外謹慎。
5contend not with them; for I will not give you of their land, no, not so much as for the sole of the foot to tread on; because I have given mount Seir unto Esau for a possession.
5不可與他們爭戰；他們的地，連腳掌可踏之處，我都不給你們，因我已將 西珥山 賜給 以掃 為業。
6Ye shall purchase food of them for money, that ye may eat; and ye shall also buy water of them for money, that ye may drink.
6你們要用錢向他們買糧吃，也要用錢向他們買水喝。
7For the LORD thy God hath blessed thee in all the work of thy hand; He hath known thy walking through this great wilderness; these forty years the LORD thy God hath been with thee; thou hast lacked nothing.'
7因為耶和華－你的上帝在你手裏所辦的一切事上已賜福與你。你走這大曠野，他都知道了。這四十年，耶和華－你的上帝常與你同在，故此你一無所缺。』
8So we passed by from our brethren the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir, from the way of the Arabah, from Elath and from Ezion-geber. And we turned and passed by the way of the wilderness of Moab.
8「於是，我們離了我們弟兄 以掃 子孫所住的 西珥 ，從 亞拉巴 的路，經過 以拉他 、 以旬‧迦別 ，轉向 摩押 曠野的路去。
9And the LORD said unto me: 'Be not at enmity with Moab, neither contend with them in battle; for I will not give thee of his land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession. —
9耶和華吩咐我說：『不可擾害 摩押 人，也不可與他們爭戰。他們的地，我不賜給你為業，因我已將 亞珥 賜給 羅得 的子孫為業。』（
10The Emim dwelt therein aforetime, a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim;
10先前，有 以米 人住在那裏，民數眾多，身體高大，像 亞衲 人一樣。
11these also are accounted Rephaim, as the Anakim; but the Moabites call them Emim.
11這 以米 人像 亞衲 人；也算為 利乏音 人； 摩押 人稱他們為 以米 人。
12And in Seir dwelt the Horites aforetime, but the children of Esau succeeded them; and they destroyed them from before them, and dwelt in their stead; as Israel did unto the land of his possession, which the LORD gave unto them. —
12先前， 何利 人也住在 西珥 ，但 以掃 的子孫將他們除滅，得了他們的地，接着居住，就如 以色列 在耶和華賜給他為業之地所行的一樣。）
13Now rise up, and get you over the brook Zered.' And we went over the brook Zered.
13現在，起來過 撒烈溪 ！於是我們過了 撒烈溪 。
14And the days in which we came from Kadesh-barnea, until we were come over the brook Zered, were thirty and eight years; until all the generation, even the men of war, were consumed from the midst of the camp, as the LORD swore unto them.
14自從離開 加低斯‧巴尼亞 ，到過了 撒烈溪 的時候，共有三十八年，等那世代的兵丁都從營中滅盡，正如耶和華向他們所起的誓。
15Moreover the hand of the LORD was against them, to discomfit them from the midst of the camp, until they were consumed.
15耶和華的手也攻擊他們，將他們從營中除滅，直到滅盡。
16So it came to pass, when all the men of war were consumed and dead from among the people,
16「兵丁從民中都滅盡死亡以後，
17that the LORD spoke unto me saying:
17耶和華吩咐我說：
18'Thou art this day to pass over the border of Moab, even Ar;
18『你今天要從 摩押 的境界 亞珥 經過，
19and when thou comest nigh over against the children of Ammon, harass them not, nor contend with them; for I will not give thee of the land of the children of Ammon for a possession; because I have given it unto the children of Lot for a possession. —
19走近 亞捫 人之地，不可擾害他們，也不可與他們爭戰。 亞捫 人的地，我不賜給你們為業，因我已將那地賜給 羅得 的子孫為業。』（
20That also is accounted a land of Rephaim: Rephaim dwelt therein aforetime; but the Ammonites call them Zamzummim,
20那地也算為 利乏音 人之地，先前 利乏音 人住在那裏， 亞捫 人稱他們為 散送冥 。
21a people great, and many, and tall, as the Anakim; but the LORD destroyed them before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead;
21那民眾多，身體高大，像 亞衲 人一樣，但耶和華從 亞捫 人面前除滅他們， 亞捫 人就得了他們的地，接着居住。
22as He did for the children of Esau, that dwell in Seir, when He destroyed the Horites from before them; and they succeeded them, and dwelt in their stead even unto this day;
22正如耶和華從前為住 西珥 的 以掃 子孫將 何利 人從他們面前除滅、他們得了 何利 人的地、接着居住一樣，直到今日。
23and the Avvim, that dwelt in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorim, that came forth out of Caphtor, destroyed them, and dwelt in their stead. —
23從 迦斐託 出來的 迦斐託 人將先前住在鄉村直到 迦薩 的 亞衛 人除滅，接着居住。）
24Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the valley of Arnon; behold, I have given into thy hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land; begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.
24你們起來前往，過 亞嫩谷 ；我已將 亞摩利 人 希實本 王 西宏 和他的地交在你手中，你要與他爭戰，得他的地為業。
25This day will I begin to put the dread of thee and the fear of thee upon the peoples that are under the whole heaven, who, when they hear the report of thee, shall tremble, and be in anguish because of thee.'
25從今日起，我要使天下萬民聽見你的名聲都驚恐懼怕，且因你發顫傷慟。」
26And I sent messengers out of the wilderness of Kedemoth unto Sihon king of Heshbon with words of peace, saying:
26「我從 基底莫 的曠野差遣使者去見 希實本 王 西宏 ，用和睦的話說：
27'Let me pass through thy land; I will go along by the highway, I will neither turn unto the right hand nor to the left.
27『求你容我從你的地經過，只走大道，不偏左右。
28Thou shalt sell me food for money, that I may eat; and give me water for money, that I may drink; only let me pass through on my feet;
28你可以賣糧給我吃，也可以賣水給我喝，只要容我步行過去，
29as the children of Esau that dwell in Seir, and the Moabites that dwell in Ar, did unto me; until I shall pass over the Jordan into the land which the LORD our God giveth us.'
29就如住 西珥 的 以掃 子孫和住 亞珥 的 摩押 人待我一樣，等我過了 約旦河 ，好進入耶和華－我們上帝所賜給我們的地。』
30But Sihon king of Heshbon would not let us pass by him; for the LORD thy God hardened his spirit, and made his heart obstinate, that He might deliver him into thy hand, as appeareth this day.
30但 希實本 王 西宏 不容我們從他那裏經過；因為耶和華－你的上帝使他心中剛硬，性情頑梗，為要將他交在你手中，像今日一樣。
31And the LORD said unto me: 'Behold, I have begun to deliver up Sihon and his land before thee; begin to possess his land.'
31耶和華對我說：『從此起首，我要將 西宏 和他的地交給你；你要得他的地為業。』
32Then Sihon came out against us, he and all his people, unto battle at Jahaz.
32那時， 西宏 和他的眾民出來攻擊我們，在 雅雜 與我們交戰。
33And the LORD our God delivered him up before us; and we smote him, and his sons, and all his people.
33耶和華－我們的上帝將他交給我們，我們就把他和他的兒子，並他的眾民，都擊殺了。
34And we took all his cities at that time, and utterly destroyed every city, the men, and the women, and the little ones; we left none remaining;
34我們奪了他的一切城邑，將有人煙的各城，連女人帶孩子，盡都毀滅，沒有留下一個。
35only the cattle we took for a prey unto ourselves, with the spoil of the cities which we had taken.
35惟有牲畜和所奪的各城，並其中的財物，都取為自己的掠物。
36From Aroer, which is on the edge of the valley of Arnon, and from the city that is in the valley, even unto Gilead, there was not a city too high for us: the LORD our God delivered up all before us.
36從 亞嫩谷 邊的 亞羅珥 和谷中的城，直到 基列 ，耶和華－我們的上帝都交給我們了，沒有一座城高得使我們不能攻取的。
37Only to the land of the children of Ammon thou camest not near; all the side of the river Jabbok, and the cities of the hill-country, and wheresoever the LORD our God forbade us.
37惟有 亞捫 人之地，凡靠近 雅博河 的地，並山地的城邑，與耶和華－我們上帝所禁止我們去的地方，都沒有挨近。」
