1And Abia slept with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David: and Asa his son reigned in his stead: in his days the land was quiet ten years.
1و ابیا با پدران خود خوابید و او را درشهر داود دفن کردند و پسرش آسا درجایش پادشاه شد و در ایام او زمین ده سال آرامی یافت.
2And Asa did that which was good and pleasing in the sight of his God, and he destroyed the altars of foreign worship, and the high places.
2و آسا آنچه را که در نظر یهوه خدایش نیکو و راست بود به‌جا می‌آورد.
3And broke the statues, and cut down the groves.
3و مذبح های غریب و مکانهای بلند را برداشت و بتها رابشکست و اشوریم را قطع نمود.
4And he commanded Juda to seek the Lord the God of their fathers, and to do the law, and all the commandments.
4و یهودا را امرفرمود که یهوه خدای پدران خود را بطلبند وشریعت و اوامر او را نگاه دارند.
5And he took away out of all the cities of Juda the altars, and temples, and reigned in peace.
5و مکانهای بلندو تماثیل شمس را از جمیع شهرهای یهودا دورکرد، پس مملکت به‌سبب او آرامی یافت.
6He built also strong cities in Juda, for he was quiet, and there had no wars risen in his time, the Lord giving peace.
6وشهرهای حصاردار در یهودا بنا نمود زیرا که زمین آرام بود و در آن سالها کسی با او جنگ نکردچونکه خداوند او را راحت بخشید.
7And he said to Juda: Let us build these cities, and compass them with walls, and fortify them with towers, and gates, and bars, while all is quiet from wars, because we have sought the Lord the God of our fathers, and he hath given us peace round about. So they built, and there was no hinderance in building.
7و به یهوداگفت: «این شهرها را بنا نماییم و دیوارها و برجهابا دروازه‌ها و پشت بندها به اطراف آنها بسازیم.
8And Asa had in his army of men that bore shields and spears of Juda three hundred thousand, and of Benjamin that bore shields and drew bows, two hundred and eighty thousand, all these were most valiant men.
8زیرا چونکه یهوه خدای خود را طلبیده‌ایم زمین پیش روی ما است. او را طلب نمودیم و او ما را ازهر طرف راحت بخشیده است.» پس بنا نمودند وکامیاب شدند.
9And Zara the Ethiopian came out against them with his army of ten hundred thousand men, and with three hundred chariots: and he came as far as Maresa.
9و آسا لشکری از یهودا یعنی سیصد هزارسپردار و نیزه‌دار داشت و از بنیامین دویست وهشتاد هزار سپردار و تیرانداز که جمیع اینهامردان قوی جنگی بودند.
10And Asa went out to meet him, and set his army in array for battle in the vale of Sephata, which is near Maresa:
10پسی زارح حبشی باهزار هزار سپاه و سیصد ارابه به ضد ایشان بیرون آمده، به مریشه رسید.
11And he called upon the Lord God, and said: O Lord, there is no difference with thee, whether thou help with few, or with many: help us, O Lord our God: for with confidence in thee, and in thy name, we are come against this multitude. O Lord thou art our God, let not man prevail against thee.
11و آسا به مقابله ایشان بیرون رفت پس ایشان در وادی صفاته نزد مریشه جنگ را صف آرایی نمودنند.
12And the Lord terrified the Ethiopians before Asa and Juda: and the Ethiopians fled.
12و آسا یهوه خدای خود را خوانده، گفت: «ای خداوندنصرت دادن به زورآوران یا به بیچارگان نزد تویکسان است، پس‌ای یهوه خدای ما، ما را اعانت فرما زیرا که بر تو توکل می‌داریم و به اسم تو به مقابله این گروه عظیم آمده‌ایم، ای یهوه تو خدای ما هستی پس مگذار که انسان بر تو غالب آید.»
13And Asa and the people that were with him pursued them to Gerara: and the Ethiopians fell even to utter destruction, for the Lord slew them, and his army fought against them, and they were destroyed. And they took abundance of spoils,
13آنگاه خداوند حبشیان را به حضور آسا ویهودا شکست داد و حبشیان فرار کردند.
14And they took all the cities round about Gerara: for a great fear was come upon all men: and they pillaged the cities, and carried off much booty.
14وآسا با خلقی که همراه او بودند آنها را تا جرارتعاقب نمودند و از حبشیان آنقدر‌افتادند که ازایشان کسی زنده نماند، زیرا که به حضور خداوندو به حضور لشکر او شکست یافتند و ایشان غنیمت از حد زیاده بردند.
15And they destroyed the sheepcotes, and took an infinite number of cattle, and of camels: and returned to Jerusalem.
15و تمام شهرها را که به اطراف جرار بود تسخیر نمودند زیرا ترس خداوند بر ایشان مستولی شده بود و شهرها راتاراج نمودند، زیرا که غنیمت بسیار در آنها بود.
